      Don't know why you let people off with small fines after these greedy people catch so much and undersize. That's why they all keep doing it because they know they won't be caught often enough to make cost them. Why they destroy and deplete marine reserves. Start putting in jail for abit and seize all vehicles for long time until they have to pay heaps to get them back. Only way to go if you really want to stop people

    No excuse they blatantly ignored laws, they're lucky they didn't lose the boat.

    These people know the law. If they want to take a gamble on not getting busted . There boat should be part of the plan fine. Its people like these that will do it again.

    If they had done that here in Oregon USA they would have lost everything involved, boats, cars ,trailers, the home they are going to bring the catch to, even there drivers license's. The court would have fined them $250.00 per fish over the limit, took there fishing & hunting privliges for life and sent them to prison for years, it would have ben front page news for months. That's how we deal with poachers on that level here. You have such a fantastic eco system, please don't let the poachers destroy it like we did.

    I’m wondering did they put the scallops back in the water? They were still moving around out of the bucket. If they didn’t put them back in the water, can you tell me why? I’m curious and don’t live anywhere close to salt water.

    Where I live, taking something that isn't yours is called theft... Stop misnaming stuff.

    • @mikehawk2610
      @mikehawk2610 2 года назад +3

      for it to be theft it has to be owned by someone before hand, you cant steal something no one owns.
      maybe illegal procurement?

    With a boat that big, they new exactly what they were doing. That wouldn't be the first boat they owned. Boat should have been forfeited

    There is no way they would take a rich mans boat..so much BS .

  • @juandenz2008
    @juandenz2008 Год назад

    So the boat wasn't in fact SEIZED. Also my understanding is that even when it is seized, they don't actually lose the boat, they can get it back for a sum much smaller than the value of the boat. Sometimes as little as 1% of the value. When you read tough stories about boats being forfeited it is all a lie and really an attempt to mislead the New Zealand public. If you look into the court cases in more detail you can see this happen repeatedly.
