Those guys were lucky the Coast Guards were nice that day and let them keep their boat! 😳Check out all the best Coast Watch moments here 👉bit.ly/BestOfCoastWatch
Don't know why you let people off with small fines after these greedy people catch so much and undersize. That's why they all keep doing it because they know they won't be caught often enough to make cost them. Why they destroy and deplete marine reserves. Start putting in jail for abit and seize all vehicles for long time until they have to pay heaps to get them back. Only way to go if you really want to stop people
These people know the law. If they want to take a gamble on not getting busted . There boat should be part of the plan fine. Its people like these that will do it again.
If they had done that here in Oregon USA they would have lost everything involved, boats, cars ,trailers, the home they are going to bring the catch to, even there drivers license's. The court would have fined them $250.00 per fish over the limit, took there fishing & hunting privliges for life and sent them to prison for years, it would have ben front page news for months. That's how we deal with poachers on that level here. You have such a fantastic eco system, please don't let the poachers destroy it like we did.
I’m wondering did they put the scallops back in the water? They were still moving around out of the bucket. If they didn’t put them back in the water, can you tell me why? I’m curious and don’t live anywhere close to salt water.
So the boat wasn't in fact SEIZED. Also my understanding is that even when it is seized, they don't actually lose the boat, they can get it back for a sum much smaller than the value of the boat. Sometimes as little as 1% of the value. When you read tough stories about boats being forfeited it is all a lie and really an attempt to mislead the New Zealand public. If you look into the court cases in more detail you can see this happen repeatedly.
Western Australia has still got healthy rock lobster stocks, why because any wrong doing at all , you loose car trailer boat and everything in it ,on the spot ,
What a Joke those Fisheries Officers are and the system is. No wonder our fish and shelfish stocks are the way it is. complete waste of time going out to inspect the boats. NZ is just a joke !!!

No excuse they blatantly ignored laws, they're lucky they didn't lose the boat.
Why should they lose their boat no one else does ask Mr nash

Boat wasn’t seized. Nice clickbait!
I agree they knew better.
Where I live, taking something that isn't yours is called theft... Stop misnaming stuff.
for it to be theft it has to be owned by someone before hand, you cant steal something no one owns.
maybe illegal procurement?
@mikehawk2610 we all own it duh.
This was intentional and criminal.
Boat seized - but not seized
The mincer aboard is a worry
The sea is dying … only a boat 😢
Can they put them back in the sea
With a boat that big, they new exactly what they were doing. That wouldn't be the first boat they owned. Boat should have been forfeited
0:45 do you want to do business with a guy like him
There is no way they would take a rich mans boat..so much BS .

How about they target the commercial fisherman who haul in tons of fish etc. every day & are out fishing our oceans!!! 😡
Follow the laws ..... I only get out fishing a few days a year but I still follow the rules
Of course, they didn't lose their boat . Use just let them get away with a fine that does nothing
👍💝👍
