    A tip when storing your dolls and such is to throw in some silica gel packets! They will absorb any moisture that may happen to get into your boxes and keep everything safe!

  • @kissekott
    @kissekott 4 года назад +1125

    That "mold" could actually be aged plastic, or because of aging in some way. I'm a collector of My Little Ponies and it is quite normal for the plastic softener in the plastic to come out because of age. I also don't recommed you to have them stored in the same room as you sleep, because of the toxic fumes that comes from the aged plastic, it could be cancerogenic.

    • @secondchannel6068
      @secondchannel6068 4 года назад +34

      Really? I haven't had a mold problem with my dolls and they sit on my shelf.. can that still be cancerogenic?

    • @kissekott
      @kissekott 4 года назад +55

      @@secondchannel6068 It's hard to say exactly what it is without a closer look, but it could be the aging. I'm not specifically an expert on dolls, but all plastic will become more or less toxic due to aging. At some point the plastic will get some strange looking spots, start to smell weird, become sticky etc. Different types of plastic and synthetic materials age differently though. If the plastic is older than 10 years the fumes from the degradation is most certanly cancerogenic I would say. If you are worried or want to know more, I would recommend you to google about plastic degradation in relation to cancer. :)

    it is very worth mentioning that mold is ALIVE. Mold spots on one doll indicates there were likely mold spores throughout the whole box it was stored in. And, by touching the doll that has mold on it, then touching dolls that do not, you are risking moving them onto *possibly* uncontaminated dolls. The linens that they were contained in needs to be cleaned as well. Finally, one last thing, not all mold spores will be killed by just soap!

I was never a big collector, but I had quite a few of them and my most prized possesions are the big dollhouse and the horse stable with the jumping course. Anyway, I was a shy and selfless child, so I never asked for the dolls, no matter how much I wanted them, but every time we went to the big supermarket, I would ask for a few minutes to spend in the toys isle, and just stare at all of the barbie dolls. I would admire their beauty and how fun they looked like, and it was as good as buying a new doll.

    I had to leave all of my dolls and many other things during a family emergency situation. I have since never seen them. I had given them as hand-me-downs to my youngest sister. She played with them but did not take care of them. I LOVED my Bratz. I too, had one of the babies. But, my favorite dolls to play with were the Polly Pockets. They still make them but not the same at all. And, I'm not talking about the old school Polly Pockets that were centimeters small. Im talking about the 2 inch ones with Silicon clothes (sometimes fabric). I was OBSESSED with them. I had alot of their cars/dolls/clothing. Again, I had left them behind at our old house and they were never seen again. The tiny shoes and tiny bags and the tiny clothes. Always so much fun for me. I wish I had brought all along with me. But at last, I wasn't able to. So many good memories. I was a very alone child so the dolls were my everything. I specifically remember dreaming about them every night. I just wanted MORE. I dreamt of waking up to my closet being STUFFED to the brim with dolls UP and DOWN. And, then actually waking up to check my closet and in reality, all of my dolls sat at the bottom of my closet lol

    My obsession was with Barbie dolls, when you talk about your excitement I can feel that too, I remember this huge emotion almost ecstasy about Barbie dolls lol, I think I will never in my life feel the same way about anything. I still have all my Barbies and a few other things, I feel so nostalgic watching this 💜

    When my and my sister got older and stopped playing with bratz/barbie dolls, my parents threw them all out (or gave them to charity, i don't remember). We were so pissed!! We played with them SO MUCH when we were children and we wanted to keep them for collecting later or whatever... This video is making me so nostalgic! I really wish my parents had kept them.
    Now I kinda wish my future children will have a "doll" phase so I can have an excuse to buy them and make all sorts of accessories all over again!

    Wow you need to start a museum. I think actually there was a cool doll museum I visited with my family here in Australia. They restored my mums antique baby doll from her childhood. Doll lovers are pretty amazing

    Miss Woolworths bratzs section. These videos are bringing so much childhood nostalgia back to me as someone who loved Bratzs like crazy too growing up. I even used to have all the posters from the magazines on my bedroom wall.
    Bratz kidz dolls in your videos too omg they were my favourite.

    you can use a little bit of alcohol vinegar on a piece of cloth to get rid of the mold! I live in a humid area so my dolls get moldy too, for some reason wiping them with vinegar works and the mold doesn't grow again for a long time.

    hope this helps! xxxxx

    In the US there was a time when the bratz were on sale in the Thanksgiving after sale and they were sold for $5 dollars. Those were the ones without any lil things with them and the ones with a bigger set were like $7 . My daughter went through a brat faze and I scored during that time. 🙂

    I loved Bratz dolls and collected them up until like 17 years old. Currently 26 years old . I had a doll from each theme,either sasha or yasmin. I had the salon,the laptop ,dvds,coloring books,tshirts. Bratz were the only thing I was given for birthdays,christmas, good grades etc. They go for a lot of money,now online.

    This reminds me of my childhood I really wanted a Bratz doll, I literally begged my mom for one and eventually she gave in and gifted me one.
    Bad thing is she got the wrong one, I wanted a blonde one, since I was a blonde and really liked how Chloe looked, but I got a dark haired Bratz and then she always was the bad guy in all the stories I played with them haha.
    Thanks for the Nostalgia!

    I relate to this soo much! I used to be OBSESSED with Littlest Pet Shop as a kid, but when I went into high school I felt ashamed of having toys in my room so I sold them all, but now I wish I hadn't so I could look back at them and collect them and such, I also had a youtube channel for it and I was so proud of my series, but I even deleted all of those, so sad.
