Another YTer suggested that the "soft" mode uses LEDs for the gain stage clipping... For fun, he replaced them with mosfets, but I didn't much care for that result either.
Nice demo. I completely agree with your assessment (even though my ears are not as good as yours) - and really liked hearing both the Archers in the shootout. Thanks.

My guess is the Moskey is using a different potentiometer value. Perhaps the taper is off but it’s changing the behavior at the beginning and end of the gain range b

Given how many different opinions I'm seeing on this pedal, I suspect that component values must have a wide tolerance resulting in "good" and "bad" ones. From what I can find online the silver pedal with the voice switch up should be identical to the gold pedal. For you, you say it was not. So perhaps it's component variation. If you get a good unit then it seems to beat most of the competition. But you might get a bad one. JHS blind shoot out had the silver pedal beating an original Klon :) so there you go! I just received one of the silver ones from Amazon and it seems to be a good one, although I don't have any other Klon clones to compare it with, I like its tone enough that my vintage RAT came right off my board :)
