I'm so excited for the upcoming podcast as I think it can provide a lot of insight into the music of gaming! Any ETA on when that will be coming?

@purpleschala, it’s been a LONG time since we last talked. My daughter is now 11. And to no surprise, she’s now getting into anime, VGM, and stuff. She’s now asking me to cover Xenoblade, etc. I told her of this RUclipsr I know who covers this stuff. And she loves you. Quick update, I got out of that “dark” place in my personal life. And the channel is now growing well. Really can’t thank you enough for your kind words back then. But the channel took somewhat of a surprising turn. For some reason I’m now known for my piano lessons on Animenz arrangements, more so than my actual performance videos. So now I just do Animenz and the piano lesson for each piece I learn. By the way, if there’s any opportunity for collab in the future, don’t forget there’s this guy who knows a thing or two about playing piano. That’ll be so fun. Never done that.
Richard, so nice to hear from you! Very happy to hear your channel is growing fast!!! With your amazing skills and focus on Animenz, and your commitment to providing lessons for his arrangements, I am not surprised in the least people are flocking to watch your vidoes, so congrats! =) Also really thankful to hear your life has taken a better turn, hopefully all is well with your family and work!! Kids grow up fast don't they haha, my oldest is going to be a senior in high school next year and I'm not ready for him to graduate and leave us so I'm just trying not to think about that for now lol. Pleasantly surprised to hear your daughter likes Xenoblade, I don't know any 11 year olds that like that series, only angsty teenagers and adults lmaooooo. You should def cover some Xenoblade themes if she's asking, an amazing pianist like you could knock out a lot of them in no time! Thanks again for the nice message and the update, and happy holidays!!!

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. I hope you've been taking care. This is a wonderful cover of a wonderful piece from a wonderful game. I know exactly how you feel when you say the ost is the least memorable of the other Xenoblade games, because I thought the same after finishing it too. However, I listened to it again and kept coming back to it, and I think I know why I felt that way initially - this soundtrack blends into the game super well, it's pretty much in perfect harmony (imo) and becomes part of the experience. Having it all on physical media now makes me so happy too, I just love these games so so much. Anyways, enough rambling from me, thank you for another gorgeous performance!!
Thank you so much Tyler. I appreciate that so much. ❤️ That's interesting that you mentioned the OST blends into the game well, as someone else mentioned that awhile back when I said the OST didn't really stand out--unlike the other XBs it seemed like they really made a concerted effort for consistency this time around. I can see it being part of the overall experience, as most of the game feels very slice of life, in an odd way--like big dramatic story moments do happen but the moments that stand out to me the most are the quiet conversations with your party members or NPCs. You've inspired me to listen to it on its own now, haha.

Sorry to hear about your loss, hopefully your friend went to a better place :( Now, on a brighter note... XB3, my beloved! Flawless execution of this track: I remember being OBSESSED with it back when I was playing the game, I don't think anyone could ever compose a better main theme for a game where music is such a key point of the story...speaking of which, it's probably my favourite in the trilogy (though I must admit it was kinda poorly narrated at times LMAO. Crys, Ethel and the Z-trio deserved some extra cutscenes): the core theme of refusing a "comfortable" stagnation and needing to move forward really resonated with me. I won't annoy you again with my takes on the soundtrack lol. I'll just agree with what someone else commented: give it another chance in isolation, now that the official OST is out :) Also...X HYPE!!!!!! Oblivia night deserves more recognition!
not annoying in the least!!! Loved reading your takes on everything Xeno, so really, thanks so much for sharing them!!!! ❤️ Also will have to go back through your catalog and listen to all your XBX covers because I'm sure I remember seeing some version of Oblivia among them lol. Thanks for the condolences as well...it was such a cruel way to go and hard to see, and she definitely is, and no longer suffering, which is some solace to us. It's funny that XB3 just happened to be what I needed at the time, FFXVI had a few similar themes of loss but XB3 tackled them in such a sincere way with the intention of coming to terms with the inevitability of death, and like you said, how moving on in grief is far desirable to an existence frozen in eternity, whereas XVI tended to glorify heroic loss in the measure of grief and suffering of the survivors and I was just like...I don't need that right now omg. Also agreed that Ethel needed more screen time, she was AWESOME ❤️
@@purpleschala Yeah, life is like that sometimes, you just come across the right piece of art at the right moment: I can definitely see how XB3's somber, down to earth approach would be more relatable in such a situation. Regarding my XBX stuff, yes, there is an old Oblivia cover lying somewhere LMAO, I'm surprised you remember! You might want to wait a bit before checking it out though, since I'll probably have some updates about that in a few days ;D
Ruby! 😭😭 I am so sorry to hear about your friend! Cancer is so awful... 💔 I can tell how much emotion went into this, I felt tenderness and longing in your playing. And I agree, Xenoblade 3 might not be the BEST Xenoblade but it definitely impacted me the most. 💜
ahhh Tera you're so kind. Thank you. It really is such a cruel disease and sucks that it's just that stage in life where everyone starts dying of cancer....sigh. I'm glad you understand, and feel the same abut XB3 as well, you put it perfectly. I felt a little bad saying i didn't love it because so many people did but it really affected me in ways very few AAA games have.
@@purpleschala Definitely. I've witnessed cancer from a young age, as it's in my family history (both grandparents on my mom's side died from it, and my dad's mom is a breast cancer survivor). It's one of those illnesses that I truly hope we find a cure for since it is just awful. Don't feel bad for not loving the game as much! I also think these games hit us differently when we are older. We appreciate aspects of it that younger folks (or our younger selves, even) might not really pay much attention to and vice versa.
@@TeraCMusic omg Tera I'm so sorry, that's terrible! I too fervently hope we can eradicate it completely, too many people either suffer slowly and painfully or go downhill so quickly and then they're just, gone. Oh THIS ONE YES!!!!!! This one definitely caught my attention as well!!! Maybe one day when I can assemble a string crew for it hahaha, those harmonies are just ❤️
just incredible... I wasn't even sure one person could play this or if it had to be a duet.. you naaailed the timing of every single note. also I agree, xenoblade 3 is ... special. It's not the best of the three, but it's probably the most unique in its feel. Which is something, given that it's literally a combination of the previous two games.
Great work as usual! How do you keep your piano in tune? This winter is killing mine, so I’m starting to get into DIY tuning. (Probably should have waited till November to have the real tuner come in. October was too early this year, apparently!)
OHHHHH MAN HAHAHAHA i am OVERDUE for a tuning, last time was in February lol. I try to get a tuning in twice a year, but it probably needs it more often seeing how I flog the poor thing on a daily basis lol. Usually I just keep my house at comfortable levels of humidity and temp and it seems to hold pitch decently for the most part. Good luck with the DIY tuning omg, I did take a class in tuning in grad school and used to touch up my trichords and unisons but since I never really mastered the technique of pin setting in the block they never stayed in tune so I stopped and left it to the professionals hahaha
@@purpleschala Haha, tuning unisons for me has become a weekly (maybe more often) game of whack a mole. Not sure if it’s my technique, the heat being on for winter, or because the piano is a year old…probably a combination of all 3. Tuning is getting faster as I get a better feel for how to move the pins. The problem is that, the more I do it, the more I get bothered when a unison is bad…and so I end up tuning instead of practicing lol. In a fit of enthusiasm I made a 5-min video on tuning unisons. I then got feedback from tuners (my tuner plus some amateur self-tuners on the ToneBase piano forum) and put it in the pinned comments…you may find the gifs amusing: ruclips.net/video/rATjEjgWdqk/видео.html On your new corridors of time video-nice work! Pedaling halfway sounded fine, not too muddy.
Love the cover, as always. Happy you've been getting into 3 and X. X is very underrated, and the OST is amazing. It's a shame the Wii U servers are closing next year :( I understand the experience you have with 3. 2 definitely is my favorite main series game, but I love them all. 3s story makes a little less sense and could have been better, and the OST definitely wasn't as memorable as 2 was. I did like the maktha wildwood theme though. it's somber and slow leading melody up until it's dramatic chorus was truly beautiful.
I love the field music and theme for X, but I don't like the ones with singing in X. My biggest issue with X is the short story and the skells ruin the game because they are necessary. After a certain point fighting on ground Isn't even an option. If you have to fight on ground you just lose because the enemy skells do so much more damage and have high defense/hp. What's worse if skells are incredibly boring to fight in. Also hearing only the first few notes when you leave the ground in your skell is an issue I have. It was enjoyable, but easily my least liked Xenoblade Game with 1 and 2 being my favorites and 3 being third. I'm still hoping for a sequel. I can't believe there hasn't been one made yet or even a port for the first one! We need answers to the end of X!
Thank you so much! And I'm glad you also understand, by no means was XB3 a bad game, it just resonated with me differently than the others. And the OST did have its moments, Maktha Wildwoods day theme was one of my favorites as well, also A Life Sent On and A Step Away.
@@GuardianAngelEatos XBX combat is incredibly easy to cheese, both in skell and on foot lol. you just gotta know how as it's not that easy to figure out. infinite overdrive with dual guns and long sword was my build. could never lose if you built correctly. getting the ares 90 skell also pretty much guarantees winning every fight.
totally understandable! i was surprised the story was pretty short for a XB game, though I've actually stopped fighting in my Skells and go on foot whenever I can be because I was hemorrhaging money from dying too many times in combat 😂 also once I started to really strategize with my ground gear and arts instead of picking the most powerful stuff and button mashing like I was doing for the first 45 hours I started to rely on Skell combat less, though it's hard to resist the temptation to just steamroll them hahaha. I would love for them to make XBX a full on next gen MMO omg. I'm not an MMO person but the exploration and world design is just outstanding!
@@MrJamieRose With the infinite loop with the overdrive of the game, yes. I wasn't including that because it's dumb and broken. But then again every Xenoblade game has something broken like that aside from the first one unless there's something I'm not aware of that breaks the game like the others do.
I love the emotion you play with. Turns this into a powerful and melancholic piece. Thank you for this Thursday night drop.
Thank you so much shirayasha, as always! ❤️

In a fit of enthusiasm I made a 5-min video on tuning unisons. I then got feedback from tuners (my tuner plus some amateur self-tuners on the ToneBase piano forum) and put it in the pinned comments…you may find the gifs amusing: ruclips.net/video/rATjEjgWdqk/видео.html
On your new corridors of time video-nice work! Pedaling halfway sounded fine, not too muddy.
Love the cover, as always. Happy you've been getting into 3 and X.
X is very underrated, and the OST is amazing. It's a shame the Wii U servers are closing next year :(
I understand the experience you have with 3. 2 definitely is my favorite main series game, but I love them all.
Guess Duolingo will have to wait 3 minutes and 33 seconds
