The ‘come on, I was shiny hunting why’d you have to break my streak’ music. Yeah happened with cresselia and mesprit while I was hunting for larvitars above oreburgh. Really popped up frequently around there.

This is definitely one of my favorite songs Carlos has put together. Here's why: The second the melody begins, the piano is so soothing and relaxing, then adding the horns and the wind chimes. Then the bendy bass solo was just so amazing. Then the piano knocks you on your ass and shoots your soul into the stratosphere. Then the bass entry served as a hub for all of the other sounds to come. Then the ascending sax melody brought it together. Then, around 2:40, the trills there are just were so filled with life and joy. Then afterwards, the off beat piano sort of funk. Then we go back to the beginning, except faster, which was genius. Then the drums were added, which created a new level of depth. Then once again, your soul is shot into the stratosphere by the piano and the horns with the melody. Then the sort of swing-ish tempo with the piano and the bass. Then the true Patrick Bartley comes out of him, and goes absolutely wild on the alto sax solo. It was one of the best solos I've heard in a while. Then back to the slow, majestic piano, and the horns slowly emerge with the cavern theme once again. Allotted with the ritardando, it worked so well. Then the piano is back for more! MORE BATTLE THEME! Then the off beat ending really just sums up the song as one amazingly funky groove.
As a kid this song always creeped me out because mespirit could appear randomly and the different music would freak me out. Now this low key is a bop! Great job as always!
Currently listening to this, while also playing piano, while also resetting for Shiny Uxie. Trying to *not* go insane and this music is such a big help.
The Lake Guardians always had this air of mystery and I think thats why I loved their themes so much. That feeling was certainly there with this cover, and the switch into the battle theme had me smiling my face off and jamming. Don't know why but they've always been my favorite trio (possibly just nostalgia). Still happy to see them get an awesome cover. This is definitely going into the soundrack pack right away!

Generation 4 is the peak of Pokemon in my eyes. Growing up with gen 2 and 3, I always loved the scope of the pokemon worlds, the journey was fun and the music was always superb. Gen 4 attempted a more serious story while also perfecting the lore and world building in a region. The characters were intimidating and powerful, the atmosphere of the journey was perilous and grand. There can't be another generation like 4. Everything about 4 was an amalgamation of the previous 3 generations with a coat of passion and polish. For me, this is the insurmountable pinnacle.
When I was a kid playing this game, I never would have dreamed that I'd be able to listen to the music again in such a way. I feel incredibly blessed to have someone arranging so many beautiful pieces from one of my favorite games. Keep up the great work.
I remember stumbling upon the Year 1 version of this. It was the earliest song I had heard from you, so I kept expecting it to bust into a full orchestration. I've been waiting years for this, and you didn't disappoint. =D
Haha, glad to finally be making a full version of that theme! Pretty sure I played a wrong note in that opening arpeggio in my Year 1 version of the theme... there are only 4 notes to mess up on and I messed up one of them consistently LOL

I've always loved the calm yet strong nature of this piece, it made it feel like the spirits were wise and knew what they were doing in a battle, which was a fun juxtaposition to their dainty appearances. This version manages to capture that aspect while throwing in a bit more frantic energy (especially with the bongos (are those bongos? lol)), almost as if this is from the trainer's perspective, with a little bit of the nervous jitters that come with battling a lake spirit. And that mysterious and powerful introduction is great! Wonderful work, as always, the Year of Sinnoh is definitely a wonderful treat!
