Andy is one of the greatest players eeeeever!!!!!!...Love his tone, his note choice, his soulful prashing....He is the real deal!!!!!!....Thanks David!!!
I love these "80's style" lessons. Being born a little later, I haven't had exposure to really any of these unsung type guitar heroes. It's great style and I appreciate the exposure and look forward to your next videos, thank you🎸
Dave, I have to say, time after time you are putting some killer content up here. You’re playing as others have said is flawless and effortless; and your constantly sticking stuff up from my formative years and from the players that really made me stick the hours in. That first lick from Naughty Naughty screams class. Andy is a hell of a player, and I’ve taken a lot from studying his courses on TrueFire. He has a very calming way of getting notions into the mind, but also creating the want to learn more. I’ve seen a comment earlier regarding Dweezil - that would be a great suggestion. Another killer player, and another who’s lessons I’ve taken a great deal from. Keep it up, the channel, it’s content, the back stories, and your playing is outstanding
I live really close to andy, its a blessing i get to see him play all the time, and my guitar tech friend does alot of work for him so i get alot of cool info
Hi David thanks for another cool video and I enjoyed listening to your personal story regarding Andy. He's a killer player and you did an awesome job demonstrating his work. Looks like I'll be playing some Andy licks after work later. 🤘🤘🤘
I’m from right down the road in Henderson KY and didn’t know you were from around Evansville when I started watching your videos. You are a phenomenal guitar player and an incredible teacher. I used to take lessons at American Music Center in Henderson off of Hwy 41 and wish I knew about your lessons earlier!! I love all your videos and your commentary is very informative. Keep up the great work!!
I was just listening to the Screw it álbum on my way to work and back... opened my RUclips app and here’s this lesson. Thanks dude! I started listening to Timmons during his “Spoken and the Unspoken” album era and branched up and down from that point. A top influence for me.
Andy Timmons is a huge inspiration. Andy's solo work is incredible he has my favorite tone his amps and effects are perfect. I'm trying to mature like him he's so seasoned.
Andy has always had great guitar tone, I read he was a jazz instructor at Berkeley, the songs ginger snaps and carpe diem and that solo in I still think about you, just killer, definitely one of my top ten guitarists great lesson again mate
Man, I love Andy. I listened to That Was Then, This Is Now (sort of a compilation based on Ear-x-tacy, I believe) religiously for months, and still pop it in regularly. The tribute he did to George Harrison (Slips Away) features some of the warmest, soulful playing I’ve heard in a long time. Then he does stuff like Electric Gypsy to channel his inner Hendrix, Cry For You for a Satriani vibe, and Resolution....love the guy. He should be much more well known in the guitar world.
Another great choice I like that you choose lots of amazing yet way underrated guitarists who many of us grew up listening to. I think James Murphy would be a great choice incredible player who had some very tasty leads in Testament, Obituary,Cancer,Disincarnate just to name a few . Excellent work as always 🤘
Not just an incredible player … but also one of the genuinely nicest guys you’ve ever met. My buds who taught at the national guitar summer workshop would tell me how they would jokingly Try to get Andy to slag on other players. He never would. Lol
Love you're lessons David. My new favourite channel. You're voice makes me sleepy lol....in a good way! Would love to see a lesson on Dave Meniketti from Y&T....in my eyes the greatest American hard rock babd ever. Best wishes ftom the UK.
Lol, Steve D, his voice has the same effect on me , would make a great hypnotist, or maybe a another channel with bedtime stories haha, great channel anyhow.
Use the third lick to ascend up the fret board and then descend down the fretboard like on "she sells sanctuary" where the open d is the pedal tone and and then you work your way down the g string. (Do you hear any symetry between the 2 licks)?
Great lesson Dave! Been a big fan of Andy's since the 1st self titled Danger Danger album. Got to see them live opening for KISS on the Hot in the Shade tour with Slaughter and they were awesome! The instrumental track Puppetshow on Screw It was actually part of his live solo back then and he killed it live. I always thought they were a great band that just never got the recognition they deserved. Unfortunately I think the Grunge movement did that to a lot of bands that came out at the end of the 80's. Keep up the great content man!
Akira Takasaki Of Loudness,Ronnie Le Tekro Of TNT and Harry Cody of Shotgun Messiah are some real underrated from the genre that would be cool to see thanks, sick playing and cool stories about Andy !!
Excellent choice... Andy is a great player... I remember watching him playing on stage with Vai and Gilbert and thinking who is this guy? He was smoking Gilbert and Vai... Just blow my mind that I didn't know who he was... Since then I've always tried to keep up on him...
I LOVED that place! I used to go there often and pick up new music and poke around at all of the random and cool stuff that they had. I was devastated when I heard that it was closed. That place was a landmark for sure! : )
Nope, that was a little before my time there. When I lived in town I played in groups that frequented Fast Eddy's, Woody's, Little Cheers, Duck Inn, and Marina Pointe/Club Baja down by the river. : ) Are you from Evansville?
@@LateNightLessons I believe it was 86 when we were playing there a lot. We also played a place called Kramers Lake Park on a 106-degree day that was a rough one. Check out what I'm doing now I really love your lessons I get a lot out of them. ruclips.net/video/5sVU4QIdXgs/видео.html
I just listened to Screw It! quite loudly on my stereo. And, I must say, the neighbors are now looking at me quite oddly 🙄. Tasty solo on Find Your Way Back Home. And bonus points to anyone that recognized the sample in Get Your Shit together from the movie Hollywood Shuffle.
I think danger danger was overlooked before but I really didnt get into Andy till Resolution I believe but then went back to earxecstacy stuff with electric gypsy
They're all Seymour Duncan. The bridge is a JB humbucker, reverse-wound (middle), and a Cool Rails (neck). It's a great set and they seem equally balanced! Rock on, thanks for watching, and for this question/comment too!

Do Dweezil Zappa licks! Or a guitar lesson of Let's Talk About It! Great solo in that song. Dweezil is awesome.
