That catcher made it to third so fast... I’ll bet he was pissed nobody covered the plate for him. I wish we could have seen the pitcher just turn a circle on the mound watching this...
Yeah, ss should have been paying attention to runner after he made it to second, 3rd needed to stay back at bag, catch made decision he thought best in reality the pitcher could have easily covered 3rd. The first baseman should have rotated down to homeplate and if the pitcher didn't decide to go cover 3rd, the only other place they should even consider being is behind home plate.
@@justinlafollett9001 Pitchers aren't usually taught to cover any base but first. The reality is the entire infield should have stayed in place and let the outfield back up throws. The catcher is the only one of their players that didn't go AFK after the throw was late.
Once the catcher went to cover third, the pitcher should have been at home. Also, why was the third baseman at second? Because Alcorn State was in the shift. This is the danger of what happens if you don't get the runner out at second.
For everyone wondering about why the pitcher was throwing 60MPH… Alcorn started a true freshman that couldn’t make it through the first inning and had walked two runs in and had the bases loaded with no outs so because no one was in the bullpen they had to bring in a position player to swap him with. In case anyone is wondering, the pitcher (#20/Jamaal Green) is listed as a 1B/P on the school’s website. The starting pitcher, Austin Guzman, gave up 3 runs in the 1st and didn’t record an out. Green ended up giving up a total of 6 ERs in 2.2 IP. He also gave up 4 hits, 3 walks, but somehow got a strikeout on 62 pitches. Alcorn St. utilized 2 additional position players as pitchers. That probably explains why they’re currently 1-19 this season.

I've only seen something like this one other time in time life and it was my brother who played catcher in accelerated ball understood the rules substantially, got a walk to first, no time was called, he ran to second, catcher over threw 2nd he ran to third then got in a chase down from 2nd to 3rd, 3rd messed up and ran past him, he gets to 3rd, no one calls time and he takes off again to home while the pitcher was confused. Best play I've ever seen by a 13 year old.
I have seen it once in my lifetime. Rob Ducey, playing for the Junior(21 and under) InterCounty Cambridge Bulldogs scored a home run on a walk. The Kitchener Dodgers catcher for the day was having problems and every time he threw to second the ball would end up in the center field. Rob was a speedster and had been drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays earlier in the year. When he came up to bat in the middle innings someone hollered at him "don't stop at second base". Well, what do you know, Rob took off on a wild pitch which happened to be ball four, and never looked back. He rounded second at full speed just as the catcher's thrown ball was bouncing towards centerfield. Rob never did let up and he crossed home plate well before there was any play at the plate. Honest story.
@Jomboy Media I imagine the third baseman was shifted closer to second because of the lefty batting. I'd guess that would be the reason he was over so far and simply got caught being a spectator rather than a participant in the play.
That pitcher, what a guy. Out there throwing sub 70mph MEAT, then chillin on the bump with his teeth in his mouth, refusing to move, while all hell breaks loose around him.
Those midweek college baseball games can be some ridiculous games. I remember Mississippi State beating Jackson State multiple times scoring runs in the twenties and even thirties, stopping the games in the seventh inning.
I did basically the same thing in little league. So seeing college players do this when I never even made high school varsity is pretty much catharsis by proxy
1:15 i feel like i remember this from a previous breakdown but isnt it illegal for the runner to have one foot behind 2nd base as hes going to 3rd? (ik hes still technically on the base but i have a fond memory so)
I was always taught the Pitcher should backup the throw 2 bases ahead of the play. So as soon as the throw to 2nd was made, he should have been behind home.
Lol. First time watching this for the season. It was good to take a break, and this is the best re-entry into what's going to be a great year of baseball. Speaking of which did anyone read the article in the New York Times today about the shrinking popularity and general attendance of baseball? I mean, I haven't taken my kids to a game in over 2 years. The only people who can afford to go are the rich, the fanatics ( I don't mean fanatical in a bad way ). At least in the big cities it's horribly expensive.
When the runner was on second he must have seen the catcher bolting for third. I think that clued him in. Love the third baseman motioning to the catcher that he should have been at home and/or getting his ass up to run home as the runner goes home, LOL. The third baseman started it all, haha.

Looks like they are 1-16 now lol...
Maybe they were reviewing to see if there was time called at any point? Not sure. Keep up amazing content!
Catcher leaving his post to cover third is just wrong. And yeah, neither the 1st baseman nor the pitcher covering home is really bad.
Wow thats crazy amazing, some videos are just worth watching twice
The runner had the biggest grin from 3rd to home lmfao
The joy on the runner's face as he advances base to base is great.
@Jomboy Media I imagine the third baseman was shifted closer to second because of the lefty batting.
I'd guess that would be the reason he was over so far and simply got caught being a spectator rather than a participant in the play.
definitely living up to their record
I love days when Jomboy uploads 3 or 4 breakdowns 🙌
Alcorn State, "never heard of ya"?! hey smoky didn't my man Steve McNair go to Alcorn State? one love my dude
What about the D1 Alcorn pitcher topping out at 68 mph?
Steve McNair went to Alcorn St. cmon Jomboy
That pitcher, what a guy. Out there throwing sub 70mph MEAT, then chillin on the bump with his teeth in his mouth, refusing to move, while all hell breaks loose around him.
outstanding awareness on the part of the runner
" oh we thought you guys were going to take a team piss" 😂😂🤣🤣🤣
0:53 There's also the unbridled joy on the runner's face when he steals home unopposed.
They use to call me the water bug ❤
Those midweek college baseball games can be some ridiculous games. I remember Mississippi State beating Jackson State multiple times scoring runs in the twenties and even thirties, stopping the games in the seventh inning.
I did basically the same thing in little league.
So seeing college players do this when I never even made high school varsity is pretty much catharsis by proxy
No one mentioned how the pitcher is just tossing 60 mph 😂
Taking one for the team. The starter couldn't get out of the first.
Nice....never seen this one before.
Obviously one of them because of the pandemic. I just can't afford it. There's just so much greed in the business. The only people who can afford to go are the rich, the fanatics ( I don't mean fanatical in a bad way ). At least in the big cities it's horribly expensive.
Love it.
"We got Ole Miss versus... **checks notes** Alcorn State, never heard of ya..." and the rest of the breakdown is why lol.
What the hell are those pitches?
Those are the result of a position player, the first baseman, trying to do his best imitation of a pitcher and not really pulling it off.
When the runner was on second he must have seen the catcher bolting for third. I think that clued him in.
Love the third baseman motioning to the catcher that he should have been at home and/or getting his ass up to run home as the runner goes home, LOL. The third baseman started it all, haha.
Steve McNair & TE Jimmy Giles both went to Alcorn st.
OMG! That is so amazing I might start watching baseball again! Nah, the highlights are enough.
