We had a track like this in my city back in the late 60's. We used to spend hours there. I think it was 25cants for a half hour. We would go to the hobby store and buy model kits and convert them to slot cars. What a blast.
I grew up in the neighborhood and remember fondly my dad taking me here a bunch of times, and I definitely attended a birthday or three here as well. I even remember my dad trying to get some of his friends into it so he could justify to my mom buying his own slot cars instead of always having to rent the shop ones lol.
OH, the memories!!!.. I used to go there EVERY Friday and Sunday, from 1978-82.. I LOVED this place!!!.. I'm 61 now, and I STILL own a couple of HO and 1/32 scale cars... The GOOD old days!!.. Hope he's still there..
I miss places like his. I grew up going to places like his back in the 60’s to 80’s. I might of gone to see his place back in the 70’s when I lived in Brooklyn. I’m working on restoring a can am car now hope to find a track down in Florida some where.
My dad took my sister and me there back in the late 60's. We were the only girls and got alot of good attention for being interested in racing cars. It was one example of cool things we used to do as children that required face to face play. You could customise cars from kits you would buy. Paint them. Try to make them faster by replacing the brushes. My dad loved it too rest his soul. Now I live in England or I would be there as soon as the COVID mess is sorted.
I got into the slot cars as a kids in S. Miami in the early '60s. I earned track time at a local shop by fixing all the rental cars--and they needed a lot of fixing. Started out with a Monogram Porsche kit before building my own customs. Lots of good memories. There was a local store here in FL for a while but it closed. The cars were much faster than what I used to race, but just little wedges with no class. And someone needs to tell that kids to never pull the cars backwards.
I have over 3K Feet of Tyco HO scale and a collection of Cars. My best friend had about that much, too. He figured out how to wire 2 power tracks together so each person had their own X2 Tansformer per lane. He and I would race all weekend long.
I just read of the sad demise of Buzz and Buzz o rama. All i could think of is here is the real "king of the slotcar track" if you've never heard it, its a song by a group called the reach around rodeo clowns. Check it out.
when i was growing up..60..70's..all kids had tracks...it was a must have on the wish list..hope this great hobby makes a come back..but..electronic games has diminished the appeal...thx for this video down memory lane...
Can't believe Buzz A Rama is still there. I grew up at that place from about when it first opened until I moved out to Long Island in '74, Even then I still came back a few times a year to race. Now live in Florida and would love to race at Buzz A Rama again but I refuse to go back to that communist state.
Turns out Buzz and his wife, Delores, both died. Delores and Buzz both got covid-19 in April. Delores died and Buzz initially survived, but died soon afterwards of a heart attack. The business just shut down for good.
I loved slot cars as a kid... I’m 56 years old and just started building a new track...still loads of fun!

Sadly gone now, I got a chance to run there last year, nice throw back to how the shops were in the 60s if you never got a chance to experience it.
Great story great guy he's a legend
Sad to see Buzz passed in 2021, preceded by his wife. From all accounts, it sounds like he was a delightful person and a great advocate for the hobby.

Great arcade-collection in the background

Looks like an American Orange track...the best tracks that were made. Many still exist today.

Begging your pardon, but I have to ask.
Your name is Oscar, and you're a girl?

Use glow sticks for the race in the dark
1.8 seconds lap time?
That’s exactly what I’m wondering - how is that physically possible?
@@dannainan maybe the slot car was powered by a Citation X engine?

Group 7 is pro class, so they're the fastest.
Group 10 is one of the slowest classes, and they're turning in the low 5's.
It's now 1.23 seconds ;-)
Believe it.

What a terrible shame for both folks RIP..............surprised nobody bought the tract.........
less than 2 seconds for a whole lap???!!
It's quite an old video, the lap world record for the 155ft Blue King track is now 1.23 seconds!
Ain't nobody got time for that
now were talking. No Armenian or Chinese will visit that place.
Such a shame Covid took him and his wife. We lost a treasure.
The legend Mr Buzz, rip!
