- I'm sure I missed some strategies, so let me know why I'm a little dum dum
This was certainly my most ambitious video yet and though not perfect by any means, I hope it's something that will be well received as this is what I hope I will be making in the future. I'd like to hear your comments about the background music and the, I guess, emotional narrative of the video - this is the first video where I attempted to create a story and used music to add to that story, rather than using the music as the story. As such, I don't know whether people will be distracted or engaged by the music.

Where u getting these maps? Are they on the wiki now like
Though mentioned in the video at 7:30 (owned lmao) the new maps come from the discord server. In the wiki-forums channel, there is a forum called "Downpour Maps" which has been working on making all of the new maps, so big shoutout to them, would have had to make them myself somehow. The maps can be found by going to the pinned messages. As for the wiki, they'll probably have the new maps out at some point, but, to my knowledge, not currently.

From my testing, the other popcorn plant did not have food on cycle 0

@@theomni1012 I believe there are spawns that don't happen on the first few cycles, such as pole mimics on the right side of outskirts not spawning in the first, I believe, 4 cycle when you play as survivor.

We have gotten to that point. The Bloons level of community insanity where runs are so intense 20 theory videos on a run have to be made before it is achieved

@@minimmats ah, I had that recommended to me, but it was a really long video and I thought it would just cover the people making the games. Might check it out then.
For going through the other exit in pebbles' chamber, you can also just re-enter the room and crawl along the ceiling. In zero gravity, as long as you're slow enough, you can crawl along the walls. It's fairly easy to do before pebbles kills you after you re-enter. I can do it fairly consistently, and it's exactly what i did on my first spearmaster run.

This is an interesting one,
Let's think about this with what has already been done:
Score runs have previously taken industrial to shaded through garbage but with the longest cycle, 13min 20 sec, this is only just possible and you would likely only just make it to moons region and die to rain without having to change cycle length,
given spearmaster has hunters speed this would make sense however the change in terrain for garbage and shoreline might change this possibility
Also, you should receive the nomad passage on entering 4 different regions when going from outskirts to moon so a passage isn't a problem,
sounds like it was already suggested however
You could use the chieftain passage as you get it in outskirts to get the food to rest in shaded, after going through industrial garbage, shoreline, shaded,
You can then use the nomad passage you have just gotten for going back to moon from pebbles as you state here, as an example
This might make more sense and make the run actually possible without the cycle timer being changed but am unsure how map changes to garbage and shoreline affect the run
Could be interesting the more I think about it, however,
I am concerned that if you were to do it then it wouldn't be too fun to do, regardless of the one throw, not using spears in cycles going upwards of 10 minutes through difficult areas sounds like it wouldn't be terribly great for anyone involved, the one throw at the beginning will always stay theoretical in this case as well and I would never count on it
You can probably eventually get it and it probably wouldn't be the worst thing as long as you can get to shaded to be honest, and probably dealing with moon at all

In terms of speed, I leave this to you - I'd like to think it's possible, but to what extent can only be shown by the people who are good at the game.
For the chieftain passage, I'm unsure as to how viable it is when you are stuck in Outskirts. You have 5 pearls, including the one you give to pass the toll, and you could throw some rocks at the lizards attacking the toll, but whether this would be enough is beyond me. It would make the latter half of the run much more doable.
And in terms of the actual run, yeah, it's a really tough one both in terms of the difficulty and enjoyment. The legendary spear throw makes the runs very reset heavy, which would be brutal to grind when it's likely that an attempt could take 5-10 minutes, all for a small chance at saving a spear. Even then, attempting to survive while going at top speed and dealing with the tough creature spawns from spearmaster all while using no spears could easily lead to you getting chomped by some random lizard, potentially ending the run. Certainly doesn't sound fun to actually do.
@@Rock6Sixes oh I am unsure if you are aware, but you can cheese scav karma on tolls
effectively after you pay a toll and you then give them more things you overpay and it counts as another pearls worth of rep (+10) regardless of the item you give (not rocks)
so essentially pay with the outskirts color pearl (or other items like karma flowers +5 and spears +3) to pay at least enough for +10 rep and then give them the spears on the slightly underground parts on the left and right, given they are far enough from the toll they are not considered the scavs property and you can give them to them
if you pay for the toll then give 4 more spears you have maxed out at +50 rep that cycle, you can then take a pearl from next to farm arrays in the next room and then come back next cycle and do the same thing
if you really don't want to pick up spears ever, then you can bring the mushrooms from the previous rooms although this will take time

Challenge idea: artificer but you can't kill scavs
On paper it sounds impossible because of karma gates but using the already dead scavenger in front of the karma gate to shaded you could probably route out a path where you could make it to all the echoes without murking a single scav.

@@Rock6Sixes probably lol, I already have a route in my head that could potentially let you do it without having to murder any scavs by using a corpse from the intro to get access to the first four echos without needing to kill any scavs, basically by grabbing the echo in shaded, getting the one near 5p, backtracking to grab the chimney echo and then getting atop the tallest tower, and then you can just go down through sky islands to get the farm arrays and depths echoes, the real pain would be trying to keep a karma flower the whole time lmao

@@Rock6Sixes to be fair it's not super intuitive, I only know cause I happened to jump at the correct time on my first playthrough, then died and spent the next 20 minutes trying to do it again lmao

This could get a TAS run.
I would think that beating spearmasters campaign without spears and with the karma requirements removed would still be difficult because 1: no checkpoints, and 2: it's much more difficult to kill enemies because the only weapons you can use are pretty dangerous and either rare, or only found in specific regions.
Edit: after watching the video it might actually be easier than I originally thought.

small thing with this theoretical run, after you get to pebbles you passage to moon if im getting it right, but im pretty sure that when you passage, items don't stay with you even if you are holding them, and you need the pearl pebbles gets out from you
Good point! There is a remix option to enable that and while I'm fairly confident it would work, I have not tested it.
@@Rock6Sixes if the option is enabled it does work with the pearl, a friend of mine used that because they also had 2 pups on them and they really didn't want to track all the way to moon with them and the pearl so they passaged.

Also, you could use the karma cache glitch to gain infinite karma off of just six food
Karma caching is one of those glitches that ruin the fun of a large part of the run imo and though I did forget about it, so thanks for reminding me, I probably would have kept trying to make a run without using it.
Use the Exterior Echo to go back to moon. echoes return you to the shelter you last saved at and gives you extra karma in case you like die too much or smth, and the exterior echo is always there no matter what karma you are at and doesnt require activation.
it's been way too long for me to remember why, but this probably doesn't work due to something like not having enough karma to get to the echo or something
@@Rock6Sixes Six grains is always active on any karma and on the first visit, like the subteranean echo i forgot the name of.
i know bc yes i did visit six grains first with 1 karma like pretty much a lot of other people first time in survivor

Isn’t it possible to starve and then exit during the 30 second grace period and still retain the karma or was that patched out in downpour?
Cause if it isn’t it would allow you to get Survivor and Friend passages since you passage achievements are also saved while doing this.
I have no idea whether that is possible or not, but it should be. Presuming it's a one time use to go from starving at karma 1 to being normal on karma 2, I'm not sure how useful it would be, but it could lead to something. If you can use it infinitely to gain as much karma as you want then it kind of breaks the run to a similar degree as disabling karma gates, which isn't that interesting imo.
Now beat hunter only eating fruit (you can eat batflies, popcorn plants, vulture grubs, etc. as long as they provide 1/4th of a pip)

@@dannadx3840 Ah I see. These regions are in russian because it seems like there's a good chunk of russian speaking rain world players in the community. Some of them work on the maps and do them in russian first and while I would prefer using english maps, there's not much of a difference.

would be sick seeing someone try to do this run using a TAS and maybe even attempt a 0 spear run using the crazy movement tech there is and abusing pearls to get chieftain ASAP
Sadly, a TAS is impossible with current tools, as you can't control how the squidcada moves. Also, you can't get Chieftain in the first cycle both due to not being able to get it before Survivor.
Cycle 0 is still sadly a distant dream.

Hey I just started streaming rain world and I’m wondering what editing software you use. It would help a lot thinks
I use Davinci Resolve, which is pretty good, however, you probably won't need to use most of it's features and it's really heavy.
If you can't run it (with the optimal timeline proxy resolution and render cache), I'd recommend looking into Openshot and Lightworks.
Openshot is super basic and has a low exporting resolution, but, it's simple to use and I still use it if I need a quick cut.
Lightworks requires an account and doesn't have most of the good features, but it remains simple to use with some useful features.
I personally started by using Openshot (for my Ego Socio Dumbo Blindo series), then Lightworks (for the Conjoined Series) and then switched to Davinci Resolve when I started feeling comfortable with video editing (7 Deadly Burdens to now)

I know I'm kind of late but couldn't you just starve to do "out of bounds otherside of the gate" thing, b o o k it to moon, regain your pips there and continue the route normally ?
I know it sounds absurd to make it from outskirts to moon, While setting up an oob exploit without spears but i'd be surprised if it wasn't somehow possible
I guess we would need to do some tests on how long it would take and compare it to the longest possible cycle.

A solid suggestion and since tomorrow I'm uploading a special video, and because few will read this, I'll mention that I have done the run from Outskirts to Moon, so, it is very possible.
The issue is, of course, the out of bounds moment. To my knowledge, and I've asked the discord about this, getting oob is very inconsistent and the only vaguely consistent method requires spears. But even if it is possible, you'd still be blocked, as on your way to Moon, the gate to Shoreline, I believe, is Karma 3 on each side. Your choices would then be going around, doing more oobs, or going for an echo, but you'd have to, again, do more oobs.
In the end, there is probably some way to do oobs without spears, but, well, I don't know such a method, so, there's not much I can do.
Ah, also, if you starve and still somehow reach Moon, you'd use up all the food you gained and then couldn't save near Five Pebbles to passage back, so, starving kind of destroys the run.
The garbage to waterfront facility is 3/2 (according to some map I found) so it still requires an oob. The lower gate to moon is 1/? So it's fine but the much faster one is the top (precipice to moon) one which is 5/1 so that's an other possible oob, so there are basically two requirements to do this run theoretically spearless, unlimited cycle time and a tas bot to do the oobs (since at this point it's really stretching it to do the whole thing in one rest without passaging) also I wonder if the oobs are reasonably possible even with the tas, spearmaster is already Pretty light and the starvation wouldn't help with carrying corpses on top of the inconsistency of it

The maps aren't always accurate, so, it's good you mention that you used one for your info. As for the oob, again, would love to see it, definetly appreciate the thinking, but there needs to be something more concrete, a method I could try.
As for caring, oh, I care about this challenge way too much. You'll see what I mean in approximately 27 hours.
@@Rock6Sixes The concept in general is great imo, it really encourages creativity so obviously it woudn't be much fun to solve everything with the oob strat, kind of like the intro with the movement tech. I just really love these ridiculous challenges (kind of like the "get a jetfish up to 5p" one from the old expedition mod)
I can't do many of the techs but I want to try some parts of this, like the legendary 6 pips, first run to moon or the run from moon to the communication array

It's been a while since I've thought about one spear, but I don't think there's any feasible way to starve 4 times, as you'd have to save inbetween starving, meaning you'd need to somehow get 36 food with one or less spears, which is rather tough.

Wait, can Spearmaster actually bring the story pearl with him while he passages back to Moon after having it removed? I thought that only objects in a Scug’s stomach came with them when they passage, and everything else is left behind?
Uh, if I remember correctly, I think the long video that showcases the run (should be linked in the description) explains at the start how you have to enable certain things in the remix menu to be able to bring key items with you.

Sure, but the issue to me is the planning. Somehow managing to both steal and use enough bombs to kill the lizards is likely quite possible, but I have no idea how you would plan that out. That's why I lean towards more exploration or more movement oriented solutions - I find those more provable as solutions and I'm more familiar with movement over hunting.

Couldn’t you skip the last neuronfly spear by talking with an echo to max out your karma?
The neuronfly spear is used to gain food, not karma. To my knowledge, the echo doesn't give food.
Now that I think about it though, you could get to the Echo without using a spear and then you could do the one spear strat mentioned at the end of the video, but now run all the way to Moon through Shaded and then maybe the Precipice. You'd end up doing the one spear route, but with an echo to have more karma, which could be easier.

Slight issue, Spearmaster can't carry items via passage.
If you enable the remix option "key items on passage" (and "key item tracking") he can. It's also technically possible even without passaging the pearl, as you can instead passage back to the same shelter, run to Moon, use the food you gained from a passage to sleep, and run back. This is kinda tough, but doable.

Hmm, I never thought about Saint. My idea was to beat him at some point with the rain timer set to 0. How would he be possible in one cycle when he's in a blizzard on cycle 0 though?

@@havata150 Interesting, so you essentially run to each echo from Sky Islands? I feel like some of them would be very difficult, if not impossible, such as the one in SI. I guess you can brave the blizzard, but I'm not sure how far you can get.
@@Rock6Sixes if you starve cycle before collecting an echo, it sets you back before the starve cycle, so that, on point movement, and decent luck, lets you just baaaarely make it to all the echos. Your "visit" to two particular individuals saves even if you die, so as long as you don't die so much you get too low of karma to continue, you can visit them too

Hmm, what an interesting point. Do you think that is because the spacing between sentences is too high or do you think the spacing between words, so, me talking is too high? Also, what are some examples in the video where this is exceptionally bad?

TAS is essentially impossible because the animals are impossible for the slugcat to perfectly control, so you cannot, for example, control where the bats will fly to get the 6 food spear or where a squidcada will appear, meaning that predetermined TAS inputs just won't work. Maybe someone will one day force the game to be deterministic, but I doubt it.
@@dannadx3840 @dannad x Sure, I guess it's fair to say that making an AI play the game is essentially a TAS, but I don't think that's what the majority of people would assume when they hear a TAS. As far it goes in Rain World, I'm only aware of a 1.5 mod that allows you to make frame perfect inputs and that's about it - no save states and certainly no dynamic adjustments. Sure, someone might be able to make an AI do this run, but it would require an immense amount of work to train it, as the goal of it is so specific.

I'm surprised you didn't mention Jolly Co-op or any other mods also by the way if you add a special named garrito_feature.txt it for some reason allows you to play Co-op outside of the main three campaign and also allows you to play as other slug cats in the other slugcat campaigns such for example artificer in spearmaster however course you'll still have the food pics of that respective slugcat campaign
