I've been watching your videos for a while and I wasn't even playing MWO. That changed on Thursday and this crab build was my first mech purchase on Monday. It's a fun build to play and I've gotten a few 600dmg games in with it, when I haven't screwed up positioning and got caught with my pants down. Thanks Baradul! Your videos are great
Although the king crab had those letters on their back they certainly didn't make one of themselves :D The baby crab really is like a miniature tank. Great survivability. Both games were enjoyable to watch but the amount of damage you took in that second game is more like heavy or assault standards :D Well played. Thanks for the videos Bara.
@@TheSingleTrucker yep my apologies. Iwas in fact talking about a mech in canyon network not even related to this vid. But the way I worded it . I realized not even I knew what I was talking about.
I actually like the CRB-27 better because it has 2x AMS at the cost of a laser hard point. The 2 AMS tanks a fair amount of damage and missing the extra laser isn't a big deal.
This also makes it a far better team fighter as it helps soak shots for friends as well. I like pairing the 2 AMS right now with a trio of Light PPCs, although my other favorite build ran dual Large Pulse Lasers and a trio of Medium Lasers.
That second match was a close one. Thanks for showing it! Also, that was an interesting 3xSRM6 build on the Treb in the second match. Any way to refine it? With a light engine, it should have enough speed to be a light mech hunter or even a back stabber on heavier mechs.
It has great quirks but its too weapon mount limited. 3 is not enough slots for a medium running close range missiles, its why you typically see with 2 lrm 15s or mrms since they take advantage of the quirks and limited slots.
not gonna lie, on my road to Tier 1 like 3 years ago i tried everything, yes even lurms.... but it was this mech-chassis that got me there, a nimble 5 MPL build... around 500-1200 dmg range per match, enough performance to at least get a = insteat of a - in rang no matter win or lose. This mech is not broken, this mech is awesome
Have a very similar build and this thing is a beast, especially if you're not the center of attention, and the heat management means you can pretty much alpha-strike all the time.
I don't know, I think this is a hard award to give. I have taken bushwackers, centurions, and shadowhawks into hellish firepower and survived. I mean, I've facehugged direwolves and survived in a bushy. And yes that was a bit of a poor life choice, but the alternatives were even less palatable.
I don't remember the quirks, but depending on cooldown time sometimes 1 erppc is all you need. They've been toned down, but the old vindicators for example used to have like, 30% ppc cooldown.
@@lord6617 None of the crab variants have PPC or energy cooldown quirks... but still, on a medium - I feel like you could easily get enough heat management to continuously fire 1 PPC on plenty of light mechs - why use a medium to do so little damage? kitlaan.gitlab.io/mwodata/mechquirks.html
@@d0ubtingThom4s not everything is always rational :P But on the other hand, if they are really good at targeting, pinpoint damage is still pinpoint, and a medium carries a lot more armor.
Baradul, so many of your builds only have 60% Radar. Do you think this is all you need? ie so I can put more SP into other places. I will be honest I often forget about Artillery strikes (always use UAVs), so normally move those points into armour.
Had a lot of fun with this, tanky for a wee fella! Been piling through your builds after trying the Huntsman 6x6srm freebie build as 1st one of your vids I saw (serial rusty returner every year or 2 since beta ) ;) One thing : Is there any chance you could add the variant tag to mech name for new ones? Have twitch freebie sub either way lol !
It seems a tad bit slow for such a damage output. You trade speed for sustain. I guess it comes down to preference, but I'd argue that dropping the LPL to LL, getting rid of a few heatsinks and running the build at 113Kp/h would make it more effective.

Nice stats!
This only shows that the Crab performs
Crab, Enforcer, Hunchback, Centurion. All incredibly durable. All 50 tons. All damn good mechs.
Baradul: I'm dealing a lot of team damage
Damage is damage!

The lovely letters on the mama crab stand for "Assault? Sure, Suckers!"
I thought it was assault super squad.
The Mauler isn't designed to be all lrms. You did your best, even tho locks would have been a great assist!
@@RedEyedModok the 2nd game Mauler that was under-run had 4 lrm-15 w/art 4 and tag.

Hmph. This crab is undercooked.
👍
The 27b is like my old faithful at this point, it never lets me down.
Baradul one thing about your builds that I love is you always almost have max armor. I pretty much have copied that always

My bushwhackers usually last longer than my crabs. That said I play my wackers way way more than my crabs
Crabs are faster to make up for it, but both are extremely tanky much more so then some heavies!
I use a similar build, but its focused on speed. 99Kp/h, 4xML, 2xLL. Extremely deadly.

I remember spectating someone with a crab that that loaded up on 1 ER PPC, and... AMS. I think this build should be able to do a bit more damage

Crab is a great mech! Thanks!
Wacker or Crab, which one do you think is the sturdiest Bara?
This kinda freaky mech is perfectly fits my gaming style
Brawling
Deadly
Skirmish
Midrange

You soaked up 600 damage as you said which is pretty damn good for a 50 tonner!👍
Great Video! Thank You!
I like the Crab on tabletop well enough but in a videogame if someone peels your arms off you're fairly useless.
Any build ideas for battlemaster?
premium crab is my favourite mech
Crab FTW!
Thanks for the vid sir.
lololol I've never seen so many poptarts in a match before
I guess is cause of Tier 1 xD
SO MANY LRMBOATS in that first game
Tier 1, full bar but pilot skill rating is still on the rise, lol.
Doesn't actually go up beyond max though. Its still good to see.
I have awful luck with the Crab 27B
