My (now) 8 year old son got one from the farmers market in 2020!! Last year it sprouted a whole second heart! They are still living happily together in his bedroom window ☺️❤️😂
My Mother was gifted one on Valentine's Day in 2016, after surviving her Heart Surgery. For a year it just sat there.... then 2 and half years later, it started growing... really growing! Its now a 3 stemmed Triffid, standing over 6ft tall, and, it's taking over my Bathroom. It seems to like being spoken to while we're in the shower, lol, and otherwise pretty much left to do it's thing. It's super special to me now, as my Mother was starved and dehydrated to death in a Nursing Home, in 2021, after she was badly injured,by my vile neighbours, just as Covid hit. She loved it and she'd be so impressed that all this time on, it's still growing....AND ..... that it flowered! It actually developed flowers!!!! ☺
So Sorry hear about your mother. Nobody should have to go through that. Unfortunately, Neglect of the elderly and disabled adults who live in group homes is far more common than we are told. My sister works in Nursing care. She has worked at several Facilities for elders and several for adults with mental disabilities who need some assistance (They don’t need 24/7 care but still need enough that they couldn’t live on their own). She has yet to find a place that treats their patients and employees like actual human beings. Most of the employees do the absolute minimum and the management could care less. Her disabled patients hardly get visited by their families and the company does nothing to let them experience holidays, didn’t even have any decorations put up for Christmas, not 1 single decoration, not a mini tree or even some lights. Very similar story with the nursing homes. When something is wrong with a patient, management often doesn’t listen to my sister and refuses to send them to the doctor. I do not think we could ever put my mother in a nursing home when she gets old, knowing what little care and regulation there is I could not let my mother live out her final years in a place like that.
most my Hoyas tend to grow pretty fast apart from this very variety who puts out a new leaf once a year IF I'M LUCKY also most of mine Flower every year too
i got one and it's been alive for 6+ months and has a full root system but i don't think it has a node lol. guess it's probably gonna stay like that forever.
You say its not nice to pull them out of the pots to check for nodes but the shops wants to sell us plants that are destined to die thats not nice is it
Your channel has taught me so much about the big box store’s nefarious plant selling practice. From the painted succulents to the ice cube orchids and everything else! Thank you!
Aaaaand, they need a substantial amount of light. I have had five, and none have made it. I gave my daughter two, she has lots of light in her place and they are thriving.
I have a kerrii variegata with four leaves. AND IT STILL WONT GROW!!! plenty of roots and nodes but no sign of new growth. Any tips? It’s in aroid mix in a clay pot. I keep it dry.
Hi Krystal, I learn so much from your videos! Recently I’ve been wondering which pots to use, e.g. how do I know which plants would like a terracotta pot, which would like another kind - could you possibly do a tutorial on something like that? You’ve mentioned before how some plants like different types of pot for water retention etc
Mine grew but i didnt have enough light for it, so now i have a plant with several very very Long stems. Not many branchings though. What is my best approach now? Is there any way to make it grow "thicker"? Can i do anything Special with the vines? Any Tips are helpful, i dont have much experience with plants so it Just lives with me and continues to grow in weird ways 😄
Aw thank you! I have one of these guys and they have been sitting in park for almost a year now. 😂 I just thought he was slow but maybe he’s not gonna do much and it’s okay. ❤😂
That's a Hoya kerrii, we have one and although it hasn't grown at all, it's been living happily in its little pot for over 5 years now. She doesn't grow, but she's not wasting away either. I have another Hoya (Bella) that should get vinelike structures, but despite having 6 leaves she has been refusing to grow at all for over 6 years now and I absolutely can't tell why. Any ideas?
I’m so happy I watched this because I found one with roots growing out of the pot. What do I reply it with? I’m obsessed with your channel. Can’t wait for long videos.
Ppl don’t buy em for the plant. They buy em cuz they look like a heart shaped cactus. And single leafs can live for yrs. My gma had one and it lived like 6 yrs or something. If you want a vine obviously buy a vine. But if you want a lil green heart in a pot save some money and buy a leaf.
The only person who'll be looking for nodes at the store I work at is me (if we get these lil scams). Then I can actually give customers a full plant. If they don't want a full plant to grow (whyyyyyy tho), then I can select just a leaf for them.
I've had mine for about a year now and it was just one small heart when I bought it now it has probably 10 other hearts on it and is pretty tall. I guess I just had beginners luck cause I fully expected it to die
I was looking at these and thought they were cute but my first thought was exactly that. How are they supposed to grow if it’s just a nugget of beef? Thank you for making me not regret, not buying it. Lol
I was gonna buy a plant like that for v day for my boyfriend last year, and I learned that most of them are like that and I thought it was ridiculous so I didn't get it. Real scams of the plant worlf
I have one that has a node and full root system, but the stem is pretty crusty and browned! The leaf is healthy though. Do you think it will grow? No sign of any growth over the past three months
But if it doesn’t have a node then isn’t it basically false advertisement? Their selling you a plant with the thought process of the buyer is that it should grow.
I work at a garden center and we had a tray of these come in for valentines. I definitely bought the one with the visible node sticking out lol :] definitely happy for that find. Glad you mentioned not to dig them out too, and glad not to have found that this year so far. I'm always honest if people ask about it, like other short lifespan houseplants you can sometimes see seasonally. Wish we didn't sell out of our full vining pots of the Hoya kerii for if they wanted a bigger version. They're quite a bit more expensive (especially the variegated) for the growth potential, but worth it :)
they're not even that short lived imo I've had 2 of these for over 5 years, I'd appreciate being told regardless if asked though cause it did make me very angry the first I bought and didn't know
I’ve had my little Hoya heart for about 2 years now. She hasn’t grown at all so I doubt she has any nodes so I’m pretty sure she’s just a leaf but honestly I think she’s so cute?
I want a heart!!! I have a 42 year old hoya that my friends mom gave me for my mom. It took over 8 years before it bloomed, but my leaves are oblong not shaped like a heart.
I have both the plant and 2 hearts (regular and variegated) know that eve the regular plant grows VERY SLOW and the hearts if you water them very sporadically can live for YEARS (mine are on a 5+ year long run) so it's still adorable imo
Can someone tell me, if my heart has roots growing all throughout the soil does that mean it has a node? Or does the leaf produce roots without having nodes?
How big does the node have to be for it to survive? I bought one and it does have about an inch of stem at the base of the single leaf. It does have a huge root system too.
Thanks for encouraging people not to mess with the plants in the store in search of nodes!! Also, thanks for the info! I had no idea
My (now) 8 year old son got one from the farmers market in 2020!! Last year it sprouted a whole second heart! They are still living happily together in his bedroom window ☺️❤️😂
damn cute
3 years later, yes lol

Omg im so incredibly sorry what happend to your mother. This is absolutley outraging 😠 my deepest condolences 💔
And about your plant maybe it just loves the humidity of the shower and that's why it's been thriving?
I’m so sorry to read what happened to your mom, really sorry. I’m sure you’re right, she would be so please that it’s still growing! ❤

So sorry to hear about your mom’s heartbreaking medical mistreatment, I hope both you and she can be at peace with time.
i love my hoyas but ooo baby do they take a long time to grow! it’s so worth it to see new beautiful leaves and (maybe) blooms!
most my Hoyas tend to grow pretty fast apart from this very variety who puts out a new leaf once a year IF I'M LUCKY also most of mine Flower every year too
I have a single one I got as a gift, I was hoping so bad it would grow but it didn’t have a node so it’s just a tiny heart leaf. Still cute
Two years too late. It's still Alive but it has no growth. I Guess i'll have yo check now 😂😂
i got one and it's been alive for 6+ months and has a full root system but i don't think it has a node lol. guess it's probably gonna stay like that forever.
Same here 😭
I like them like that! I decided to buy a vining one to have options but i intend to make a pot with two sweethearts soon.
❤❤
Can’t wait to get one in honor of my son born with a heart condition! Happy Congenital Heart Defect Awareness week!
Thats would be a beautiful plant in his honor 💚 hugs to you and your son.
@andivas8618 My deepest condolences to you and your family ❤❤😢❤❤
@@terriharris6238 he’s still here! Sorry I should have explained better. It’s just in his honor, not in his memory. Thank you so much 💜
@@PlantswithKrystal I AM FANGIRLING!!! ME AND MY PLANTS LOVE YOU!!
Thank you, this was one of the 10 plants I killed. So I don’t feel bad about it any more.
I felt the same ( if it dies it wasn't meant to live 💔) 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You say its not nice to pull them out of the pots to check for nodes but the shops wants to sell us plants that are destined to die thats not nice is it
My grandma has one thats about 20 years old and its so long its crazy. Apparently I have to keep it once she's gone which im cool with 😎
Thank you for this psa I was literally gonna buy one of these from work but I wasn’t sure if it would be worth it. The little heart is too cute 😭
Ive had mine for over 2 years and it started growing!!!!!!🎉 I'm so excited.
I wish I knew this before I bought mine. But it has been thriving for over 6 months.
"If it's not dying, it's thriving" - Krystal
they can live many years just as a heart both of mine are on a 5+ year run!
I'm hoping it never grows more. My son made a pot for mothers day and I am ready to leave it there forever.
I was going for the cute petite plant factor so this doesn’t bother me
No you tell me I'm pulling it out to see why do they sell them like that 😏 🤔
It is a beautiful plant 🪴 😍 😊.
So cute! 🍀🤗🍀very nice! ⚘👀🌷
What about if ya grow other hoyas by single leaf propagation?
I pull all the hearts out when I find them, then tell the managers of the stores that their suppliers is scamming their customers.
You won't node if you have a node
Your channel has taught me so much about the big box store’s nefarious plant selling practice. From the painted succulents to the ice cube orchids and everything else! Thank you!
Omg......I hate that I have to carry these :(
Please please do a video on your shelf set up
Can you do a info video of alocasias please 🥺
How do you take care of it?
Aaaaand, they need a substantial amount of light. I have had five, and none have made it. I gave my daughter two, she has lots of light in her place and they are thriving.
I have a kerrii variegata with four leaves. AND IT STILL WONT GROW!!! plenty of roots and nodes but no sign of new growth. Any tips? It’s in aroid mix in a clay pot. I keep it dry.
We ❤ you! 😁
How cute 💚

OH MY GOSH, that's MEEEEE! I ordered one last night. Wishing for a note or 10!! ❤
Mine grew but i didnt have enough light for it, so now i have a plant with several very very Long stems. Not many branchings though. What is my best approach now? Is there any way to make it grow "thicker"? Can i do anything Special with the vines?

Hoya Kerri is a very very slow growing Hoya to start with. Probably one of the slowest of all Hoya. So don't feel bad. It's not you as she said.
Thanks, I JUST threw mine away that I gifted my mom for Mother’s Day last year it turned yellow and got very thin
That's a Hoya kerrii, we have one and although it hasn't grown at all, it's been living happily in its little pot for over 5 years now. She doesn't grow, but she's not wasting away either. Ah yes, the valentine's scam
🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

That’s not true my I am rooting an single leaf, I heard this a lot but I confirmed that’s not true an single leaf can be propagated
I get it for hoyas, but for orchids, idc who looks at me I ALWAYS pull orchids out of their hard pot to check how those noodles are looking.
I have one that is many years old....I don't think it's dead....still green and doesnt feel mummified.... but it is same as it was.
The only person who'll be looking for nodes at the store I work at is me (if we get these lil scams). Then I can actually give customers a full plant. If they don't want a full plant to grow (whyyyyyy tho), then I can select just a leaf for them.
I would like advice for setting up plant stands with grow lights like yours.
Lol
I’m totally fine with a plant that never grows. The growing ones are too much responsibility 😅
Haha no wonder! Now I know why my "heart" is just there... Not growing, but not dying either.
I was gonna buy a plant like that for v day for my boyfriend last year, and I learned that most of them are like that and I thought it was ridiculous so I didn't get it. Real scams of the plant worlf
I have one that I got like three years ago and still one heart hahahahah but I love her any ways 💙💙💙
How do you get them to grow so nicely 😭 my variegated heart Hoya is suffering. It has more than 4 leaves but they’re dying off 🥲
I have one that has a node and full root system, but the stem is pretty crusty and browned! The leaf is healthy though. Do you think it will grow? No sign of any growth over the past three months
I just saw them at my local nursery. Glad I decided to look them up 1st. I
But if it doesn’t have a node then isn’t it basically false advertisement? Their selling you a plant with the thought process of the buyer is that it should grow.
I was pleasantly surprised to see my plant growing. I was sure it was going to stay the leaf. I was surprised and excited when I saw the stem grow 😅
I work at a garden center and we had a tray of these come in for valentines. I definitely bought the one with the visible node sticking out lol :] definitely happy for that find. Glad you mentioned not to dig them out too, and glad not to have found that this year so far.

I want a heart!!! I have a 42 year old hoya that my friends mom gave me for my mom.
It took over 8 years before it bloomed, but my leaves are oblong not shaped like a heart.
They also get massive! People don't realize how big some Hoyas can get. This is one of those giants 😂
My work has a few that have nodes! They just have glued on rocks...
Wow I didn't know this! I was gifted one about 6 months ago. It hasn't grown. I checked after seeing this and It doesn't have a node 😢
You are a wealth of information and so cute and funny Krystal! Love your shows!!! ❤❤❤
Mine didn’t have a node. I just repotted it and prayed that it would grow. One year later, it started growing.
I have both the plant and 2 hearts (regular and variegated) know that eve the regular plant grows VERY SLOW and the hearts if you water them very sporadically can live for YEARS (mine are on a 5+ year long run) so it's still adorable imo
So cruel to put a diying heart in a pot and sell it as a heart... It kinda changes the symbol of gifting that heart to someone.
Hi! Would I be able to use a few drops of argan oil mixed with water on my plant leaves for shine?
Nice❤
I think the single heart is cuter anyway!
This makes me feel better because I thought I killed a plant that was given to me. But alas it was never meant to survive after all
Can someone tell me, if my heart has roots growing all throughout the soil does that mean it has a node? Or does the leaf produce roots without having nodes?
Not worth it cuz You won't NODE .....heh..... I'm sorry
I checked right away. Mine has root, does it mean it’s good?
I have a full Hoya Kerri plant & man that thing is slowwww growing
Me having just bought one cuz they only have the single hearts for sale
Yea I made the mistake of of buying a single heart Hoya and nothing has grown so I’ve been on the hunt for a new one one
It's not very nice of them to sell plants that likely won't grow either. Lol
I have one of these that's still alive, but it hasn't done any new growing.
I asked the Shop Assistent and they said it will grow into a plant but it doesnt have a node i am so mad for wasting money
How big does the node have to be for it to survive? I bought one and it does have about an inch of stem at the base of the single leaf. It does have a huge root system too.
Yup I've had the same 2 hearts for 3 years 🙅♀️
i had this one for a while lol, ended up rotting from the bottom but it had bloomed so who knows
Is another way to check for a node to check the bottom of the pot and see any sign of root?
What about if I'm using rooting hormones?
I love your energy
I just got one! I’m gonna look at the roots and see if I have a node! 👍
I got one from a friend no node and it’s just the same as when I got it 😢
I'm so sad I didn't know and I got a single heart :(
I bought one of these.
It died 3 days later.
There are only single leafs in the market ^^”
I have one but it's not growing the stem thing
Great advice! I didn't know that.
That's BS! They should sell it!
Thank you, this helped a lot 😅🥰
Been there, done that.
Not again tho.

exactly but I purchased mine for .38 on clearance at walmart last year. 🤷🏽♀️
my little one hearted plant is doing just fine. thank you very much😊
My ex removed my heart from my pot
