I have the 30th Nobel too... and I have to say, it's one of my most versatile OD pedals. Like you said, I can get the volume up just enough to push the amp a bit more for more breakup, but then with the drive on about 9-10 o-clock, adds the nice saturation that takes the sharpness off the amp, and gives a nice mellow overdrive sound. or dime that bad boy and get a rip your face off rock sound. My fav thing to do with it, is to set the drive around 10-oclock and then hit it with a Zio Boost for choruses or leads.
@@NickyVtry running it at 12v. You can push the drive higher but still sound "open". My Marshall 1974x with a Creamback loves all knobs at noon when i run it at 12v or 18v.
Great tones! I’ve got the AionFX Andromeda which is an ODR-1 clone with a bass control. It’s my foundational pedal. It sits last in the chain because that is what most affects the tone, and it stacks gloriously with the EHX Spruce Goose (Bluesbreaker). Great use of that cut.
The spectrum boosts or cuts highs and lows at the same time. My theory why people say it has too much low end is because they turn up the spectrum knob expecting it to get brighter but you're boosting lows too.
Totally get that, and I think most people don't realize this. Personally, I want to be able to get more sparkle on the top without bringing in anything below 200(ish)Hz. I think your theory is spot on, thank you for watching!
Hi Nicky, I've been looking at this ODR-1 and I found that it matters that it's the one made in 92' which has the JFET inside it and that would be the OD-1
I have the mini and the bass cut version of it, but I might switch the golden one as well. The mini has way to much bass and the bass cut version has not enough when the switch is on in my opinion. Is it just me?😅 I heard that from other people as well, I think it’s weird that they don’t checked the eq in different situations before they released it?
I have the mini and run my GE-7 eq right after it on one board, then the gold one on another. What you are saying about the mini is spot on. Don’t know about the bass cut one but the gold is the money

Killer demo! Would you say this would be able to cover some blues rock styles or a pushed fender type tone, say SRV, Philip Sayce and some Hendrix lower gain/pushed cleans? Does the gain go low and clear enough for that? Seems like this and other Nobels ODR-1 variants are awesome at being a great all around amp-like tone, but Ive never seen someone use one to pull out some of those type of tones yet, so just curious.
