It's interesting to see the compartmentalization of residential and natural spaces. It would be heartening to see a tree outside your window. With the right choice for trees and their placement you could have the advantage of shade on the houses in the summer without their blocking the solar panels.

Even in high latitudes such a Northern Europe , if homes are designed efficient (as these in UK), they will need less than half the FotoVoltaic capacity , & therefore half cost, than energy needed to supply mainstream inefficient houses built to be feed by utility grid.

One problem i see with these new types of builds. There trying to build an insulated box with no air leeks. Yes makes sense, heat the inside and keep it warm. What about all the moisture people and life generate. 🤔 heat exchangers are expensive and leaving the windows open in winter kinda defeats the purpose.you dont want damp if these are timber framed.
Heat exchangers are not expensive if your savings pay for it over a few years, and then you start keeping your dollars from the savings. But sure, build a stone and thatch house, Ivan, Russia wants to live in the 17th century, I get it.
@@acchaladka stone and thatch dont destroy the environment, not like all your insulation,plastic window frames, solar panels and all the plastic in the underfloor heating are all going to the land fill with your heat exchanges.
depends on so many things! We prefer rehabbing old buildings over new construction, due in large part to the quality of wood that just doesn't exist any more, as well as breathable assemblies with a high drying potential
Thats what i was thinkin. A lot of these modern builds are ugly. I can imagine the archetects and planners talkimg about sleek designs and modern-ness, when in reality is stupdlookingness
Combined heat and power 🤮 Locked in emissions to this ‘eco town’. Without the CHP unit this really could have been low carbon. Instead, each home is forced to have a high fossil source of heat.

I was surprised to see that steps had been put in to support wildlife etc., But then fence panels were put in instead of hedging

Lack of originality in the houses design.
You aint powering that lot with that amount of solar , end off.
With them being energy efficient they'll probably produce too much power.
