Always thought Envy was just named Envy cuz of the Ability to change to anything he wants. The Fact that he was always jealous of humans was staring the viewers at the face the whole time yet The Reveal still has has impact just shows how good Arakawa planned her series.
Despite every horrible act he has done, we still feel sorry for him not because we forgive him but because being Envious and Vulnerable is very Human.
Envy's death is pretty good test of sympathy, and it wraps back to "moral" of Scar's story (don'y forgive, but endure the bad actions).
Also, I feel that feeling sympathy is worst thing that could've been done to Envy, Ed did it, and it drove Envy to suicide.
If Envy had been killed in anger, it would've only "prove" Envy that he had been right about humans all along, and would've propably died laughing.
(Envy did throw las ditch effort to throw everyone in rage fueled fight, because he tought that is how all humans are.)
Riza and Roy are just the best couple, this episode was so great and im somehow even more excited for the next episode, this show just gets better and better!
I always got emotional at Envy's death scene since it made me think about the sins and the effect they would have on the Homunculi themselves. Out of all of the emotions envy is the one that allows the least amount of true happyness, he was always jealous and wanting what he couldn't have. When you feel the other sins you don't necessarily dislike yourself or feel lesser for example Pride doesn't want to be like the humans since he doesn't see them as an improvement. Envy couldn't feel happy with himself so took it out on humanity and mocked what he couldn't have in order to not have to admit to himself what he really wanted and would never have.
Izumi actually says "when people ask who i am, i always said that i'm a housewife, but today i'm going to brag a little, i'm
an alchemist"
The best way to describe Roy and Riza's bond is SOULMATES ! There is love ofcourse, but yes, it's more than just romantic love, i wish we knew their whole story, first time they met, what their relationship was when he was father's apprentice and when did they start getting closer and closer. Anyway, the author of the manga said that the only reason they're still not married is because of Fraternization Laws in the Army. I know I already said it, but you really have to read the manga when you finish the series, the manga is even better, you're gonna love the story even more after that ! And sorry if I annoy you with Roy/Riza, it's just they're my favourite OTP in this anime. Actually I think they're one of my favourite OTP's of all time, I have so many though. Oh and youre reactions are amazing as always !
This episode is awesome. One of my favorites.
Mustang finally calming down after threatening both Riza and Ed (many forget that, that's another proof that Mustang was losing himself, he was ready to kill/harm even his friends), Envy killing himself, Alex punching the hell out of Sloth (and having his shoulder back!) and Izumi making a great appearence!

Don't worry, in this emotional rollercoaster that is FMA is totally normal to tear up for a thing that you wanted dead ten minutes earlier.
I do every time I reach this part, and I still don't know why, because I know what's coming.
It was a nice touch that he called Edward by his name before disappearing. He respected the pipsqueak in the end.
I always wondered why everyone thought Mustang's decision to kill the weakened envy was wrong.
But I finally realised that there was a difference between wanting envy dead and killing him with his own hands. He wanted revenge. Even when someone else wanted to kill envy, he didn't want anyone else to kill it but him.
When I first watched the show and saw this episode I cried my eyes out. Envy was the enemy, he did so much that I hated him for, yet at his end, I couldn't help but love him and cry for him. In my opinion Envy is the most complicated one in the whole show and he became my favourite character. And I'm really glad and happy you guys understood why Mustang had to be stopped from his anger. I saw so many reactors who didn't understand why Edward and Risa would stop him and why Envy died like that and it really left me frustrated and sad. So thank you so much I really enjoyed your reaction!
The thing is Envy's voice acting is spot on. The dub actor does the exact same job: Envy is heartbroken and in agony, you hear it in the cries and the voice. And we respond to the utter soul crushing agony displayed with compassion for the moment of pain Envy is suffering. We don't have to forgive, but we can still feel empathy for the pain of another, and both original and dub voice actors manage to pull off the emotion correctly for us to feel.
As a young teen, I didn't get Mustang's possible fall. It took me a long time to get how horrible Roy succumbing to his rage and vengeance would be. He's about to be the absolute leader of a military dictatorship. He *CANNOT* be that guy who tortures his enemies like that. If that's hat he does to someone who killed just a friend of his...what would he do to someone else when he's Fuhrer? This is the punishment for the death of *one* man!
You said it before. He could have killed Envy a lot faster but he purposefully killed him slowly. Tongue, eyes, skin, eyes, limbs, and then just every inch of his body over and over again. No killing blow. Just letting him heal just to do it over again. As a head of state, he could order someone's death but if he's going to be just...it can't be like this. He can't be the one to do it. Not out of hate and vengeance. Not in an unjust way.
See this is why we love and hate envy.
it's incredible how this show can make u cry for envy , someone u hated for so long.
I notice that the floodgates are opening more often for the two of you, but just think. Throughout the series would the both of you ever have expected to shed tears, for Envy of all people? It almost should have been a joyous moment for Envy to die, but instead we were all made to feel sympathetic towards him as he drew his final breath, and in that final moment where he calls Ed by his full name, it's almost heart wrenching.
W.C. is for water closet. Also Izumi was there with Briggs soldiers in episode 50. You can see just a pair of glowing eyes in the background.

There was also a quick shot of her sandals in that same scene as the Briggs soldiers were preparing to leave that basement.
The badass and brilliant moments will continue. Be prepared to full-on cry multiple times.

The music during Alex's scene is called "Amistris Military March". It's one of my favorite pieces in the show, in a show filled with spectacular OSTs. Here are some more you could check out since you guys are almost at the end of the series. But do avoid the comment section till you watch the entire series. There may be some spoilers and there may be some jokes you don't understand yet :v

Akira Senju is awesome and the OST is brilliant. I like Envy Revealed and Crime and Punishment (
Also, there's a theme that plays in the background when Envy reveals his true form to Ed and Ling on Gluttony's belly, but is not 'Envy Revealed', there are ominous voices in the background, I haven't been able to find that theme and that's a shame because it's BRILLIANT :c

17:18 i always thought that the humonculi(probably spelled that wrong) could feel emotions, and that is one of the reasons why father separated them from himself since he wanted to be more than human.
Hhmm....I'm not sure now xD I always had the impression that they prided themselves in the fact they were not slaves to their emotions like us humans are (it could be Envy's way of talking about it that gave me the idea)
They can show emotions, as we've seen with Envy here (he showed fear, shame, sadness...) or with other homunculi before (Gluttony scared about being eaten by Pride and feeling love for Lust as she was like a mother to him, Greed showing grief over his dead chimera friends, etc), but they mainly hide those emotions and act coldly 'cause they hate humans and humanity in general, they don't want to be like us, although they are in some ways - especially on the emotional aspect - just like us.
23:05 I think you're precisely on point with the nature of their relationship. (I mean, they COULD become a couple, and honestly if they don't marry each other I don't believe they'll ever marry anyone else.) But their bond is so much MORE than that. It doesn't matter if it's romantic or not - they care, it's the kind of love that matters the most. The whole Envy arc proves that. It's inspirational.
Gotta give it up to Hawkeye. Knowing she's up against a shape-shifter she wisely doesn't trust her eyes and easily tricks Envy into revealing himself.
Come to think of it all the characters that realize they're up against a shape-shifter make smart decisions (Ling and Ed trapped in Gluttony's belly tested each other too). Such good writing!!
About Envy, keep in mind what Father said to the first Greed just before he reabsorbed him, "You are my son and a piece of my soul." Also, Pride told Kimblee that it wasn't really cannibalism when he absorbed Gluttony since they are a collective. As perceptive as the two of you are you can probably see where I'm going with this, but I'll stop for now just to be sure and avoid any spoilers.
well, not just that with hawkeye but the same feeling she got when pride was around she got from envy. it was hinted at the end of last episode when those noises came back. she can sense homunculus somehow.
@@mitchhamilton64 I've always wondered if Hawkeye has a natural talent for sensing Chi, she just hasn't been trained to use it so it's not as well refined as the Chi sensing abilities of the characters from Xing.

We feel for envy and greed because, in the end, they are the most human of the homunculi. Its like to see someone who had a shit life meet its end, its justice, but It is also sad

Sadly, that scream at 6:25 before the last attack from Mustang was a lot more insane sounding in the dub, Mustang truly sounded the part too. I feel in the sub he only really looked the part of going mad.
I'll check out the scene in dub in my spare time ;) I've heard quite a lot of good things about Roy's English voice actor!!

On a semi-related note, are you guys still planning to do more Code Geass reactions, bc I know there used to be an episode released each weekend alongside FMAB but I haven't seen one in a few weeks. Maybe there was an update I missed?

I know this type of comment is so cliché (they're always on the comment section of every FMA reaction), but we've had:
- Lust being burned to death by a womanizer and not being able to penetrate him with her Ultimate Spear.
On Dante's Purgatory, the sin of Lust is punished with fire and the virtue opposing that sin is chastity (so, Lust not being able to pierce Mustang is like a representation of that imo)
- Gluttony being devoured.
This is pretty much self-explanatory.
- Envy killing himself realizing he's jealous of human.
Again, on Dante's Purgatory, the people punished by the sin of Envy are blind (just like Envy was blind to his jealousy), 'cause they have their eyes sewn shut. And the virtue opposing that sin is generosity (so I think it can be argue that Ed made an act of generosity to Envy by pitying him despite being his enemy and that the group made an act of generosity to Mustang by preventing his downfall)

Very true it's my favorite anime of all time. Hope you find time in the future to watch the English dub, this is one of the few anime that the English dub is just as good and in some parts better than the Sub. Plus you have like a six minute blooper reel from the English dub actors at the end of the series that's truly wonderful. Keep up the good work your enthusiasm and insightful talks made me subscribe to you. 😎

Nope we didn't :D with everything that happened this month (the convention, funerals, travel) we got behind quite a bit and this week I chose not to release a schedule and work my way back on track with our videos :D I'll have episodes coming pretty soon ;)
