I know it’s all part of track in the end, but that guy really obstructed the record. Started with him pushing him into lane 2 and really finished last. Sad but he’ll do great things at ole miss
you gotta remember that this was also the championship heat of nationals. It wasn't all about Cade Flatt, there were other runners in the race who were trying to compete.
he ran in lane 2 for so long and passed ellis on the straight anyway, if he had just slotted in behind ellis at that second curve he probably would have the record
No it would have happened if Cade could've gotten into lame 1 sooner. In term of the effort he put out he got the record but due to the length of his actual race he was just short
Believe it or not, breaking records as a young athlete is not always a good thing. The holder of the record he is trying to break never improved on his time in college.
I wouldn't have considered ot a record if he had broken it because he had a pace setter. When the record was set, the guy went for beginning to end all by himself in the race.
Was hurt most the year so that’s gotta humble ya. While will sumner absolutely crushed it and just anchored the national champ dawgs in the 4x4 to 258 indoors. Had an amazingly successful freshman yr and it’s half way done
Pity about the pacemaker going out too quick (needed to be 1 sec slower) and then the idiot who forced him out wide through the first lap. Change both those things and he’d have run 1min45.
its not, he said it in an interview that understands how hard he works and how badly he wanted to win it, I'm sure anyone would react like that after working that hard and missing it by that much
He had every right to be angry. The guy that made him run in lane 2 had no business being close to him. He came in dead last and kept him from breaking the record in the process. I would’ve been just as furious.

Yeah he could’ve at least let cade run inside instead of making a world class athlete run on the outside
Ellis 100% obstructed the record. He had no reason to make Flatt run wide lap 1.
Yep kid had no business
Did he know Flatt was attempting a record?
@@torontoclarinetist Probably. Flatt was the world's loudest high schooler.
Exactly True! Cade Flatt was running outside of Ellis too long. The record would have been gone.

That Ellis would definitely have slowed down if Flatt had slotted in behind him. It’s like he was hell bent on obstructing the record attempt.
I wonder if he actually ran more than 800 meters running in lane 4…
Everyone ran in lane 4 I think that’s just how the track is built, it’s def 800 meters
i raced here for the 2023 nationals. lanes 1 2 and 3 are less than 400 and events that use those lanes athletes start behind the normal starting line.
Would have happened if him and will sumner raced

lame one! LOL
is it just me or did they start the clock like a second before the race started
Probably sounds delay

yeah, neither has cade. The closest he's been is 3.4 ish seconds off. Hasn't broken 1:50. Brutal.
@@experiencethebestdogsirl8789 Im pretty sure hes coming off an injury though
@@experiencethebestdogsirl8789 tbf he is also injured

This guy was faster than Will Sumner, as a high schooler? I didn't realize that until now.
The guy who was next to Cade at the end of Lap 1 ended up...Last!!
Maybe in college his ego will go down a little bit.

2:38 the horrible sportsmanship
He just wanted it man…

I’d be pissed too if the dude that kept me off the record ended up falling off and getting last

Why r they running in the third lane
It brings good luck.
