Thank you for sharing your journey. The emotional aspect of this journey is very transparent in how exasperated you sound in the week after. Very relatable and that emotional honesty is very appreciated. I know it must be difficult to be so vulnerable in front of so many people.
I’m getting Lase MD today, and also just wanted to share that while I was watching your video for that and you were on day 2 of recovery, my boyfriend came up and said “who’s that? She’s really pretty” while having no clue of the context (that your skin was healing and not in its normal state). And he’s right! You’re gorgeous!

I had halo/ hero bbl two days ago and my swelling is much more dramatic. My eyelids which are not treated are selling so much that harder to insert contacts. Also, both lasers were incredibly painful. The 5-day recovery seems to obviously be much longer and, geez, I hope it does something significant. $2400.00. I had a regular fractional laser in 2015, and was trying to combat my melasma with hydrocodone and vitamin C-none of that worked at all. Fraxel did completely cure that and I felt like I had a nice result in that respect. You’re so young, so I would be careful of how may procedures you do. Just my opinion- but nice video!

    • @TerriEnglish
      @TerriEnglish Год назад +2

@@helenalovelock1030 The Fraxel cured my melasma-so that’s the only treatment I can personally recommend for that.
As the Hero/Halo were combined, I’m not sure which did what but my overall tone (discolorations) is much better.

I’m sorry you didn’t get rid of your pigmentation. I had a large spot on my face for 10+ years that 5 sessions of bbl wouldn’t get rid of completely. I had Halo a year ago and it’s gone and has shown no signs of coming back. Let me just say my esthetician hit me WAY harder because I was unrecognizable for about 3 days. I wish I could show you my after photos…my after was so far beyond what your after looked like. I’m not kidding. I had oozing and minor bleeding on the first day and a half. It was intense but my results were incredible. I honestly think if you got it done by someone who would go harder you’d get the results you’re looking for. I’m not sure where you are but I’d be happy to share details where I had it done (Maryland). Best wishes.

Pregnancy often leads to melasma which doesn’t respond well to lasers.
Have you tried a hydroquinone/trentinoin combo? It could help. Be consistent for 3 months. It made me turn into a porcelain doll. I’ve since stopped and some sunspots faded back in, likely due to sun exposure.

I used spongilla powder at home once a month, it’s quite a deep peeling. Takes around 5 days to renew the skin. It also flakes. But peeling only helped with acne scars, pores etc. It didn’t work for pigmentation. For that I used cream called expigment with hydrochinone. Worked 100%.

I have tried so many products and procedures myself and have not been able to lighten my melasma to the point I am satisfy. I had mine 5 days ago and all of my dead skin has fallen off pretty much. I used natural aloe vera from my garden when I got home and took a nap. I was in pain so that is all I could try and do. I woke up about an hour later and my face no longer burned. I am kind of mad I used aloe because I didn’t get as much of a flake as I have seen on some vids. Was I not supposed to use aloe? Scars are not faded at all 😢

I'm glad you haven't had to pay for your treatments as they get a bit pricey. Spending the money bothers me but the fact that there isn't a guarantee is hard for me to swallow. I had my dermatologist do some micro needling (3 treatments) in hopes that it would help some lip lines that I hate. She took pictures before and after and there was some progress but not what I was looking for. When we moved to Texas I found a derm. that lasered some sun spots off both of my hands which was perfect as the spots are gone. I would love to have an upper blepharoplasty as I have too much skin on my eyelids. Here in TX. there is a medical spa on every corner which is so different than Ohio. I'm sure many of the spas don't have Dr.'s which is totally scary to me.

Just so everyone knows you can gently buff the dead skin off…..carefully. I’ve done this several times and all of the sandpaper on the skin keeps the moisture out so removing it speeds up the recovery by about 3 days. No one needs to tell me they say don’t buff it off since many dermatologist say downs many say don’t. Make up your own mind.

Oh dear. Trying to see the prices, but they disappeared so quickly. I want to compare prices with my dermatologist’s prices. Looks like they are comparable. I’m old. I’m having Ultherapy face/neck $3999. Then Halo Pro face/neck $2199 x 2 with Alsatian Enhancement System skin care $306, and Alsatian Sooth & Protect Recovery Balm $46. Then Moxi for my hands and arms $$1699 x 3 with Epionce Renewal Calming Cream $26. If I have IPL/BBL face/neck, it will cost$1,099 per treatment with Neocutis Bio Cream Firm Riche $197. And I’ll still probably need Radiesse on neck and backs of hands, which is $799 for 1.5 CC. Doctor says I need 5. And since I’m listing everything, if I need filler, Belotero will cost $799 for each vile. Even though my needs are different, it’s nice to know how much others will pay for different treatments. No one seems to discuss this. Thank you much.

I am also 43. I had a consultation at my medspa a few weeks ago. I knew I had some rosacea but I actually did not know I have some melasma around my jaw line. They suggested a series of 3 IPLs but said it’s not good for the melasma but it will really help my rosacea! After seeing the results my mom had from 3 IPLs, I decided to give it a try. My first one is tomorrow! I really hope it doesn’t take a week to heal! I can’t imagine going to work with my face peeling off! The point of this post was to make sure you determine if it’s sun damage or melasma bc it sounded to me like some treatments could cause the melasma to flair up!

Just to control not stop it
      That should tell her
And you have to very patient
      And take over year
And you have to do touch up treatment
      2 to 3 times
      After you control it
      Melasma need so much treatments
      But not different lasers
      Just one type
      Take care

In the future I think it would be worth pulling out the big guns and getting co2 laser to really get rid of those dark patches. And maybe treating the areas with hydroquinone and tretinoin. Of course you don’t need to do any of that, you are beautiful! We are so much harder on ourselves than any one else. Just saying instead of paying for a bunch of gentler lasers it might be worth it to go all in and get the co2. Just my opinion though! ❤

If it's what you are talking about, my understanding is that a carbon facial is a very superficial treatment, more akin to a light facial peel (even though it uses a laser). I would have thought it was more of a top-up procedure once you've got your skin to where you want it to be via more-aggressive means. Halo looks pretty invasive to me, and I have discounted it as an option due to the pain and downtime.

I suffer from melasma and have done acid peals, IPL, lase MD as well. what has helped the the most is the musely products! the spot cream really does work. I had tried other creams such as obagi, 4%hydroquinone. the musely has worked the best for me and this is what I recommend to my patients as well.

Why don’t you see your dermatologist and get a script for hydroquinone? During pregnancy you can use a dark spot treatment that’s hydroquinone free with kojic acid.
A 4 month course of hydroquinone literally erased all my melasma and hyperpigmentation from my pregnancies and 40 years of no sunscreen.
