- The Ginani Festival (Harvest Festival) use to be celebrated on June 21st over the centuries in former tiny mountain kingdoms of Hunza, Nagar and Yasin (modern GB of northern Pakistan). This festival was celebrated last time in 1972-73. However, after the abolishment of Hunza state in September 1974 this festival was no longer observed in its true spirit. According to the book, Koorosh Azam (Cyrus The Great) this ceremony was observed in the ancient Persia, where barley grains were offered to the king with butter milk on his coronation. Most probably this festival has its ancient origins from the past Persian history.
