Where were you in 96? Craig Hodges too Dude is in this category
I was using the reporters words in quote to start my comment. 96 I was graduating from high school
Yeah that quote made me double take. What kind of household did she grow up in? Wish I could be this blissfully ignorant.
LOVED your game Mahmoud, you were an inspiration to a couple of Canadian WHITE open minded kids. Respect m8!
Before Colin Kaepernick there was Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf.
He’s a king and a son of God. That’s greater than an NBA career.
I am a huge basketball fan Abdul- Rauf was one of my favorite players so he came to town to play our home we always made it a point to attend I have even more respect for him and what he stands for
Fantastic report!
He can still cook many of today's current NBA player's if he laced them back up...He's still one of my favorite hoopers of all-time!
When you you don't tap and dance like they want you to. They'll eliminate you. 😏
Such a shame that he was treated like that. What appeared to be a fantastic career in the making was brought to an abrupt end all cause he did something that not just people didn't like but because he stepped outside that stereotype box that athletes are "always" supposed to remain in
Never heard of him until today, and the NBA made sure of that, but he seems like an amazing person.
Follow his whole career including college and he is!
I followed him since High School and I tell people: If Curry is the best shooter ever, it's not by much over Rauf.
That’s why people can’t follow entertainers. A majority of them are just go along get along gang! Either stand for something or fall for anything… Applaud my brother. This man shot the lights out against my old high school when I was just a little boy. He was showtime for real!
Dood Is Literally A Hero. Who Risked His Life To Make A Stand On What He Believed In. A Living Legend.
Peace to Mahmoud, true Warrior indeed, standing for what's right.
Graceful American right there. Truly the best of our country
Even today, if an NBA player was praying like he did, that player would be discriminated against.
I remember him on the first edition of NBA Jam 🔥
I am a 75 year old male who has loved Basketball all my life. Have seen all the greats play. HE would be my number 1 draft pick! HE was truly awesome!! I would love to shake his hand and pay respect to him!!
He getting that mlk love now , Atleast he’s still alive
This man was 100x more noble and genuine than Kaepernick but got no attention because of his religion.
Let's not make the same mistakes again. This guy is a LEGEND.
And he gets BUCKETS in the Big 3! Much respect to him and Craig Hodges!
Don't forget about Craig Hodges..........they did the same to him and he had just won a NBA championship with the Bulls and the the 3-pt shooting contest. As Rauf said, "look at the History of this country".
Man I want to look this good in my 50s. Shout out to my dad he taught me everything about MAR.
I remember as if it was yesterday, I was 16 back then, a true legend, a great role model for kids.
I loved CJ at LSU. One of the great college scorers!
just met him recently at a mosque, he was draining 3 after 3 after 3 with his eyes shut. yes you read that right.
History repeats itself
There were a few real ones before Kapernick, who payed the price without acknowledgment. Abdul-Rauf was one of them.
When the NBA all stars are forgotten, his legacy will remain
This guy is a legend in my eyes one of the best players i seen back then plus stood on principle much respect ✊🏾
I remember him as a kid, but he disappeared. Past 4-5 years his name's been coming up more. Michael Jordan was so big, his story just kind of went away. I didn't realize he went through all of that.
man his heart and passion is strong but the problem people fail him his god given tallent this people that broke him you should be ashame this guy is the best of his best but still you guys can never brake him his dignity with a heart they cant until the day he die this guy is legendary phenom one true legend
What happened to Mahmoud Abdul Rauf and Craig Hodges proves that the expectation of the average American is that Black people should not voice grievance regarding African American suffering. When we study history we find that this insensitivity that is so common place in America and Europe has its origins not in racism but in how Europeans have treated each other before they explored the world. Racism is the by product of a biligerant culture.
That’s why they want to ban Black History
How does a man look this young at 53? unbelievable...
Rauf was a pure shooter, dynamic scorer
Love this man! I have interviewed him several times and he has always been a classy person. THE BEST SHOOTER EVER!!
They did Craig Hodges too.
A truly strong man 🙏🏽
Phenomenal!!!!
That was great info thanks 💯🍷
His free throw percentage was insane.
We Love this Brother !!!! ❤️❤️❤️💯👏👏👏. We never forgot him. He is a legend .
