What a wonderful man! A true encyclopaedia of menswear, fabrics and fine tailoring. I could not agree more with him regarding the "flimsy rubbish" made by the "Big Brands". When I lived in Australia I worked for a short time in a large "Ralph Lauren" shop in Chatswood on Sydney´s North Shore. Most of the shirts were priced between 125 and 150 Aussie dollars (and in 2002 those were fairly expensive prices) and were "Made in India", can you imagine the cost of those garments? I cannot say that the fabrics were mediocre but the markup was obscene. An excellent, pure cotton, Australian-made shirt would cost you at that time 100 dollars, and, if you were clever and patient, you could get them at half the price in the great sales of June.
