They is a misconception that this video stated. "Toon links game plan is the same as the other links." I main all three links. They may have very similar moves in terms of animation, ( or not) but their game plan is very different from one another. Quick debrief, all three links are zoners. This is true but, toon link is the most pure zoner. Run away/shoot/punish. Young link is a more rush down zoner. Shoot/pressure/punish. While link is a control zoner. Stand centered/shoot/trap/punish.
Gotta say I love how you break it down
let’s gooooo love hearing when other people main all three Link’s just like I do
I play Toon Link more like Young Link, which is probably why I am oddly good with just randomly picking up Young Link despite discomfort with the differences between them. I think Sigma is the only player I have seen really play Toon Link as a zoner.
toon link is so underrated, he's high tier for sure
Trueee
I know!!! I played him for a bit and he has a stupidly good up b out of shield in my opinion
@@lilforttimmy i secondary him i know
Thank you for ur fact
I think he could be but link and young link exists so
As a long time Toon Link main, since brawl, you're wrong. He's high tier and here's why, you are forgetting one of his greatest tools, it's something almost every top level player forgets. It's something I don't see Dabuz or Salem do when they play the character. You even lack to mention it in your video. ZAIR. It's one of his greatest tools. It can extend strings getting more damage, it can lead to jablocks or tech chase situations that can net kills, and it is one of his greatest spacing tools that can be used to keep characters with huge aerial hitboxes at bay, and yes I'm saying it can be used to keep cloud at a safe distance. The character is super similar to his Smash 4 days with near limitless set ups from boomerang/returning boomerang, bomb, and even his bow can be used to extend an opening, even jablocks. The ONLY reason he is considered low is because of his lack of representation. I myself am trying to change that, at least in the Midwest. I've been a WiFi warrior since day 1 and my Toon Link has reached 8.1 mil GSP recently and still has room to improve. And I know it's not much but I've began playing in tournaments as well and out of the select few I've played my best so far has been 49th out of 280 entrants at The Collective 2. I know this character and I know there's more to him than everybody says.
Is it weird that I want to know if there's any vods with you in them?
Midwest tink here too. Definitely going to tourneys once covid relaxes
@@Lagoon7 oh cool, i'm in the tink gang
It took forever for my Toon Link to reach 8.1 million.
Do his arrows combo into anything? Cause I can't get the training mode counter to register any, but I know that thing isn't accurate.
I didn't play smash for 1 day
Now, I can't even beat a lvl 8 cpu
Lol
Oof
U think that’s hard try beat my amiibo
yeahh.. thats how its like when ya don't practice, its insane.
I play Terry at a very high level in my country, and I wanted to mention something relatively relevant to this comment.
Yall, don't feel bad about skipping practice for a day or two. For most people, taking a few days off of a repetitive mental training routine can help remove bad habits and improve good ones.
This goes for most things in life, like studying late at night. Always take your breaks and, most importantly, have fun. :)
I think he's one solid round of buffs away from being a huge threat. I'd say lower end of high tier right now.
I love how u guys choose these characters. As a think main I agree with all these points and even if I would love he was a top tier it is understandable why ppl place him in mid. Do more of these less popular characters please
Unpopular Opinion:
This character has top tier potential.
If the meta gets optimized i can see him low top tier
I agree because if u ever meet a good toon link they can be so annoying and really good
I think he just needs more representation
I think Young Link has that potential
@@CrossoverFan4life at this point Yung has proved himself and is commonly considered high or top tier along with the other link now it is toon link's turn
Thank You for this video
I just got Toon Link in elite smash, and he's so underrated and underappreciated!
Na he definitely high tier
Why is that, I like to know
@Holden The Gamer im asking why he thinks toon links better since no one actually giving points as to why toon link better. They just say "I think toon link better than yink" then everyone agrees with them. If you think that toon link better then prove it
@Holden The Gamer -yink has generally faster moves then tink
-yink nair, down tilt and bair does fucking everything for him lmao.
-Yink has way better arrows that can be used to combo into a kill confirm(also just serve as amazing zoning tool lol).
- Point blank Boomerang sends at the perfect angle to combo off of
-I will admit that tink does have better bombs then yink.
- His dair not only a better landing option than tink dair but serve as a great way to end a stock.
-Gets 30 percent off of spin attack --> up air and can kill at higher percents on platform.
I could go on but I got other shit to do anyways
@Holden The Gamer fair enough, I do think tink has the best out of shield option considering it comes out on frame *6* (like wtf Sakurai)
Bombs can combo into downair which can lead into to an early kill on the ledge and could maybe Two-frame some recoveries, The rare case I fight a toon link it happens to me twice and I've hit it before.
Toon Link is my secondary. He's one of the most fun characters in my opinion. However, while he has some kill set ups, his lack of range with his sword and his smaller set of kill moves makes him mid-tier I think.
I think he's high tier, he was my main before Meta Knight and I thought he was so strong, his problem is that he gets overshadowed by the other Links. I'm also pretty sure you can combo boomerang, bomb into f-air as a kill confirm, is it easy most definitely not but he could do it
He’s bette than regular link but definitely not young link.
@@Groovyjp123 regular link is the best Link
@@brutal_lui nah young link is broken af
I main both meta knight and toon link lmao
Boomerang into bomb is not hard to land. Adding a forward air is also probably not that hard. After a while, you can really predict what you need to be aware of when throwing your projectiles.
Yo my main?! Wasn’t expecting this
Great video with excellent narration from LadyLuck!
I dropped Tink in Ult because of the removal of Glide toss lol but honestly I was just shying away from accepting the new changes.
3:51 is he breaking his neck with that back air? Look at how he twists his body!
Holy crap now I can't unsee that
Definitely high tier
I don't know if he's high tier but what I know is that he's annoying to fight
Just like all the Links
All the links are annoying and the main reason why I stopped playing ultimate online
Wanna play
I would say Toon Link is not annoying to fight at all, but Young Link can be annoying, although he is much more easily controlled than Megaman while attempting to do the same thing with combos added into the mix. And Link is really annoying with shutting down every option and reaching you anywhere and killing really quickly and surviving forever.
High tier, free. He just has the downfall that nobody uses him.
I really LOVE TL. Its my favourite link of all the 3. I like link too but he feels more restricting to play because of his mobility, and I just dont like YL because his moves dont feel satisfying to do. Toon link is a mix between mobility, zoning and power, and this is what i like about him.
Same bro
True he feels like a all around
If Toon Link could cancel out of his down-A it would a great buff to his moveset since it could bait opponents and make them constantly guess whether an attack is a feint or real.
Agree
This character is top high, maybe even top. Fight me.
Would play him as he fits me well, but I am sticking to my girl since Brawl Samus (who is definitely high tier in Ult and 4).
🗿
*fights you with my main
Toon Link*
This made me so happy to see, because I have been using Toon Link as my main since I first tried him back in 2011 in brawl. Personally, I think of him as a serious threat to all who see him, on account of him consistently being under-rated and under-represented. The biggest advantage we Toon Link mains have is this element of surprise.
I didn't even know people didn't consider him low tier
Toon link has good damage, kill options, combos, wall jumps, projectiles, speed and area control
So he is high tier just underrated
I was searching up toon link as I still don’t have a main for the game and knew that toon link was the most mobile so wanted to know more about him as he’s one of my favourite characters to play atm
Play all the characters and then decide who who u find fun don’t Be like me I play too many characters and can’t find a consistent main u need a main playing several characters cuts your potential in half unless your a pro
@@d3flash453 been playing for years now and have tried every character and I like a lot of them. But I ended up deciding to main toon link
Finally, a woke comment section. Definitely a high tier character imo
I was waited for this video
Not a bad video, but you didn’t go over zair. It’s his safest aerial and poking took when spaced. He has some descent follow ups for it too. I’d say it’s one of his best, if not the best move. Also results aren’t everything.
Toon is my favorite link, probably because of how I love his game. It has a very interesting storyline.
Weirdly I find a much easier time fighting toon link than young link and link. If I were to guess why, young link and link have bigger hitboxes. This is for little Mac by the way
Yeah, Little Mac is a bit of a tough matchup, but hookshot grab and spin attack out of shield can help a lot.
Should I do broken toon link techniques?
*Y E S*
wish they shouted out Yeti beating Salem Bayo with Tink in the smash4 days
Toon Link's down air has the highest damage and can create an easy follow-up/combo situation. It also can be an instant kill if you understand when to use it well enough to do it at ledge. Additionally, if you manage to land the attack above the stage, you can get a good aerial drift and survive. Additionally, if you somehow manage to hit with it twice, it will also slow you down tremendously, making it completely safe to recover, while it might do high damange and knockback to the opponent. I am really surprised that Toon Link up air is only 30 frames as it feels like more than a full second. Also, people pretend to understand Toon Link's game plan, but it is nothing like Young Link's. Toon Link has quite a few styles of play while Young Link is committed to combos and frame traps. Additionally, I can read Young Link gameplay easily, but Toon Link is really elusive - I do not know how to fight my own character. And while I also really struggle to fight against Breath Link, I can tell how they will play generally.
Oh yeah, and about down air, maybe it was not changed by the time this video came out. I guess it probably was not, so maybe my statement about down air is a little unfair, but some of those things still applied. Also, I think Toon Link's perception decreased when the Ri-ma combos got patched out. Ri-ma used a technique where you could do aerials while holding a projectile and was able to get massive combos all of the time.
Though I don't have smash yet I would like to get it and main toon link
I wouldn't agree with that opening statement. What about Donkey Kong, or Kirby? The average person thinks Link is called Zelda.
Here's an Idea for a vid. I just want to know. Is Banjo a mid or high mid tier character?
You should do one of these on robin or luigi
I was playing Wind Waker when this video was posted
Perhaps
So you put Hero High Tier, but Toon Link Mid Tier? That’s just weird
Hero is hard to deal with and kills really easily. I think people underrate Hero. I also wonder why nobody fully charges side B. That move is too powerful to ignore. Hero just needs someone super serious to be very dedicated, but I feel like the character mostly encourages casual play.
Toon link was always my main in smash brawl despite his tiny size he such little powerhouse
The Legend of Zelda is the most iconic title after Mario itself.
Pokemon: aM i A jOkE tO yOu?
Zelda is defenitly iconic but in general there is like 4 franchises more than it.
ProGuides:Mid tier or High tier?
Me: Top tier
I can't tell if your joking,if your not then I don't what to tell ya
@@younglink3924 I’m just joking
@@hosiu714 oh nvm
Hey, didn't I suggest this but with Bayonetta?
Toon link gang rise up
Same
next video should be on luigi
He is so annoying to fight if you give him the change to gain momentum, and some TL do know how to get lots of it.
I see the difference, like the one between Marth and Lucina. One is stronger when played optimally, while the other is easier to achieve results with
Hm... but Toon Link has the more consistent properties like Lucina and Zelda has the less consistent properties like Marth. And unlike Marth, I think both characters can perform consistently, although Toon Link may have an edge because they are more natural to use and skill will always be applicable.
The reason hes not played or considered underrated is because hes outclassed in both ways by young link and link
Is bowser mis or high tier would be interesting
Tink is bottom of high tier imo. He has a lot of confirms and mix-ups that make him difficult to pin down and predict, but he doesn't have any absurd moves that make him annoying to fight. He might be one of the most balanced characters in the game.
Can we have another in depth tier list for 9.0.1 like we did for 7.0?
steve meat and um bad buffs that everybody hates other then the -1 sonic and ice climbers and belmont and bowser junier mains
I love toon Link
My toon link is fire dood
Awesome......
Cloud next
I main Wii fit trainer but toon link, Wolf, and Ike are my pockets for bad matchups. All my characters fall in high tier except Wolf who’s top tier.
I used to main toon link, but he doesn’t deal enough damage
If you are skilled enough, you can get a quick 60% against a fresh stock rather consistently.
I main Toon Link so I know how teching stuff is fun
Toon link is just young link when he had an allergic reaction
I’d say high tier (if u use him right)
Honestly that applies to all characters including little mac.
Im gonna predict it now...
Everyone thinks this character is mid tier right now, but what until a top player picks him up and watch smashtubers be like TOON LINK MAKES UPSETS!!!
My main is Roy, but my 2nd main is Toon Link. Toon Link is the best link of the 3 Links.
Beautiful
Why is toon link underrated?
Hes a great character
I play toon link he very good
He's high, and online he's top. So good, he might even deserve nerfs. (Don't actually nerf plz X3)
Do sheik next!!!
When I play Steve TL is top tier
No nut November starts in 3 days guys make sure to get all out before November starts!1!!
Thanks for reminding me I forgot
This video helped
Thank you for reminding me.
we need more mid or high tiers videos. not top or high tier videos.
Ike: Mid or High Tier, make it happen guys
TL is my friend’s profile pic
Toon link may not be better than the other links imo but he is still definitely high tier.
I wish I have smash
I’d say B+
I think he’s mid tier, still a viable character to win tournaments of course, but it takes a bit more skill and matchup luck than high or top tier characters would need. Probably upper mid if I could split mid tier tho
I agree
I think Toon Link can handle every matchup well except Falco and Fox.
High tier because of the lack of reflector characters in this game
Why everyone say that toon link is the weak link after seeing this my opinion about this CHARACTER has change
O toon link but wat about link
Pls do Robin plsplspls
No, and I'm a tink main
Change your ratings to make Toon Link at least B tier
i have been a toon link main sence sm4sh and i disagree has high low top tier potential
Cute. And yes, I think Toon Link is good
High tier for sure
toon link is high mid or mid tier
He’s definitely high tier
My answer? I hate fighting toon link more than any character short of the miis online.
I would say B+ to be honest
Toon link is low high/high mid. I think he's just under young link, young link has a better matchup spread
Also his down air is good for punishing instant ground options or anti-airs. It. combos into stuff too if the conditions are right
Damn shes so cute o-0
before i even watch, yeah right
hig teir ob
Toon Link is the least played character???
I feel insulted
Ice Climbers, Lucario, Olimar, Meta Knight and Duck Hunt are the true least played. Kirby, Doctor Mario, Toon Link and Corrin are probably the next tier. I also think that Min Min could get to Ice Climbers level as her players dropped off really fast and she is so straightforward for the most part, that I can understand most people not enjoying play as her. Pit, Diddy Kong and Marth may also be really close, although Marth had a resurgence with the buffs.
I believe he is high tier
Is SONIC a HIGH TIER CHARACTER?????
Against mii gunner he is mid tier
