This would have been an impossible task without your video. Fantastic detail on that bezel removal which was the most difficult part. Thank you, a million times over!
The procedure for the T460 at least the one that I have just removed the panel for is different. The bezel around the perimeter where the clips are and around to the bottom of the bezel is glued to this outer rim and at the bottom is a 'reinforcing' brace that is actually part of the outer rim. It spans the bottom and has 4 holes 2 of which are used to secure the bezel assembly to the bottom of the lcd panel. I was able to access the screws by bending the bezel forward exposing the screw heads for access. But if one is not paying close damage will ensue. Because in addition the tape that normally just encases the electronics board, goes through this 'reinforcing' brace and is affixed to the lcd panel. I was able to remove this tape and extract the damaged display. Putting it back together, I'll see if I can scrounge on from another donor machine :)
Followed this step by step and managed to replace the screen on my T470. One thing I wanted to note, I don't know if a previous shop refurbished it but you show just a couple strips of adhesive, mine had adhesive extending all the way down to the LCD board cover (that black film) which made it a real pain to get off without damaging the connector, but somehow I did manage to get it loose eventually.
Very informative video. Thanks a lot for taking the time and making the effort. Would I be able to tell if my screen is using 30 or 40 pin connector without removing the screen.
Thanks, you are very kind and precise, I can ask you, if there is a difference between the panel (1920x1080) of the t470 and the t470s, and if the lcd panel of the t470s, is it seen better?
Where can I get a new panel for the t460? And approximately how much it costs. Just wanna know if it pays out to buy one with a damaged screen. Owner says it’s not broken. Just stopped working. Any advise? Tks
You can do that, but bare in mind you will need the correct FRU if you are performing this on a T450 since the BIOS checks for the supported white list, if you put a replacement screen them the brightness control would not work under windows
I have a question (really hope someone can advise)... Quick background: My T460 screen is flickering/freezing, and to 'unfreeze' it I just have to move the screen a tiny bit. So it could be a loose connection which is what I want to check. My question: I started removing the plastic frame/bezel around the screen, but I'm concerned about the glue that's there - will I need to glue or tape anything when I re-assemble it? Or is the glue not necessary - can I just clip the plastic back in once I'm done? (Pardon the noob question here. I don't want a situation where the screen gets displaced or something because there's no glue.)
Thanks for the video! I'm guessing this is the correct tape? www.amazon.com/Double-Strong-Adhesive-Acrylic-Tablets/dp/B019OQ4ZG0 - Also, do you know if there's a way to separate the two parts of the bezel? Lenovo seems to sell it as a "LCD Bezel - 01AX956" as well as a "LCD Sheet 01AX958" - those two comprise the piece you took off. Do those two attach with the same tape, and can you take them apart? Thanks!
Great video! If you're worried about it being on, disable internal battery via BIOS. It can't be powered back on until you plug in the AC adapter.

By far this is the best how-to video on T470 LCD replacement. Thanks bro...
Thank you so much! I can't believe I was able to do this; only because you were so clear in each step. I am so proud of myself!
Excellent video - The T460 is different as the plastic part is held by the four screws that holds the lcd in place. This is very good for a T480.
So can this be done the same way with the t480?
Great video. Thank you for taking the time to make it. It clarified the bezel removal which is real mystery when you go to remove the panel.
Thank you for this video just swapped screens in fifteen minutes. Appreciate ya

Glad I'm not the only one that faced this. I still need to try and get the screws back in 😕
Thank you sir, I fixed my $2000 thinkpad x1 carbon lcd monitor(not showing anything due to inner cable loose) by watching your video
Extremely helpful and confidence inspiring. Thank you for making and posting this! You're awesome!
This was a fantastic video and helped me upgrade the screen in my t460!
First time ever I manage to repair any sort of electronic device. Thanks Jesus
That internal battery should be able to be disabled in the BIOS prior to starting your repair.

I bought a refurb and the double-sided tape was there, hot air gun sorted this.
For those Thinkpads with dual batteries, go into BIOS and temporary disable internal battery.
It will only turn back on by connecting the external power supply..
Great video. I have now replaced my screen with your help. Thank you.
Thanks. This was extremely helpful!
Superb. Very helpfull t460 have screws attachemed to front cover do you need to reasemmble the sticked part od cover.

Great video. But I have problem with the rubber surrounding the LCD. It's started cracked & broken. May I know which part should I replacement?
You have a link to the replacement you ordered?
Does t460/t470 have a lcd panels whitelist in bios? (like in t450s where screens that are not on whitelist are not able to adjust brightness).

Any video on replacing/repairing the hinge on the laptop?
What's the width of the tape?
You could just turn off the internal battery in the Bios to make sure it had no power. These Lenovo's have this option as a feature.
Is it possible to replace the plastic besels with one that has thinner bezels?
Loving my new screen thanks man!
Thanks for the great video dude. I did the same and saved my money 🙂

Is it possible to change a T450/T460/T470 original 720p screen to a 1080p? Or will there be some problems?

Thanks a lot. Please, can I upgrade my T470 screen (1366/768 max resolution) with a heigher resolution one (1600/900 or more)?
Can we upgrade it to a better screen? I have 720p which looks ugly af.

Would it be the same to replace if the unit was a touchscreen?
Thanks
is that the same method for T470s touch ?
is this the same for lenovo t450?
Actually you can disconnect the built-in battery via BIOS on this model and no need to remove the battery connector physically ;)

very clear
buka nya kasar, jangan buka cover LCD dengan alat logam, pakai pengungkit plastik, kalo logam/metal bisa merusak cover nya
And now new t490 comes without 4 screws, everything is glued :(
Hi
Always remove battery!
thanks
