I believe that “convenience indicating” is the feature that activates the turn signal 3x when you tap the turn signal stalk. Essentially “tap to pass” signaling. With OBD 11 you can change the number of times the turn signal flashes when you tap the stalk. I’ve got mine set to 4 “blinks”.
Tap to pass? I just use it for changing lanes. I always make sure I have enough room so I usually tap the indicator and move over after 3 blinks. The only time I need to leave the blinker on is turns where I might have to wait or congested traffic situations.
This video was super helpful. I knew there was a way to close windows with the lock button. My friend with a TDI still has a keyhole on his door and he was showing me on his older car
I picked up my 2016 GTI dsg a few days ago. I've noticed when its up to Temp, when it's in neutral or when I get home and turn engine off theres a humming noise for a few mins. Sounds like the fans but I was told all gti's do this because they have mini fans etc in the engine for oil cooling etc. have you heard this too?
Did not know about the two positions for the floor of the trunk area. Also never noticed the little storage cubby by the left knee. In my defense, only had the car about 6 weeks. Anyway, thanks much for the good content.
The Golf R didn't have access to the center console due to it having a driveshaft for the rear wheels, it was some sort of rule that I believe they have fixed in newer models I believe.
Love your storage examples! This is good for storing emergency poop paper, AND WEED! oh btw the glove box has AC, cause you know, you gotta keep them snacks cool! 😆
Just got my 2016 GTI Autobahn+Performance pack in white yesterday. 25k miles and the shit is loaded tinted windows, mud flaps, fender subwoofer, etc. I'm loving it so far and I'm legitimately looking forward to waking up tomorrow and driving it to my college to get some shit done tomorrow. Only "downside" is I won't be able to drive it while at boot camp.
Yo bro for the trunk of you want the badge to not yank off then get an automatic hatch pump kit so you not have to pull it. You just pull the badge once and it pops open. You’ll never have that feeling again
DSG have kickdown on the accelerator, push the peddle down until it resists, push past that and the peddle with click and kick the gear down some gears for a hard acceleration.
I've noticed in my GTI, in manual mode, It downshifts nicer when im not on the gas. If I'm on the gas and downshift it takes a second or 2 to do it and then kinda jerks when it grabs. When not on the gas, it downshifts immediately with no jerk. Odd
not odd, the dsg pre selects a gear depending on your brake/accelerator activity. for example, if your accelerating in 2nd your trans will pre select 3rd as it expects you to upshift. samething for the brake pedal, when braking your trans will pre select the next lowest gear. hope this helps
@wipp yeah I've had plenty of time to figure that out 🤣 solid 30k miles since that comment Just he said something different, he said when on gas it expects a downshift, mightve just mixed up the wording
PRO TIP - when your driving around in full auto and shift gears manually and it stays in manual for 30 seconds or whatever, if you hold up-shift on paddle shifter for a second or two it will put it back in full auto if you dont feel like waiting the 30 seconds.
Lucas! Lucas, Lucas....You know that the "II" after OBDII are Roman numerals right? It's not OBD Eleven :-) is OBD Two....dude you crack me up big time. You are explaining features that are typically covered during delivery - but, if this is for the person that buys a GTI from an individual and not a reputable dealer, then meh..... My recommendation is really not to buy any model/type of vehicle that is "sporty" in nature used. If it was so great, then think: "why did the other person get rid of it?"
I have a 2014 VW GTI MK7 and I don´t have neither the performance monitor nor the mode selection :( Am I able to upgrade the entertainment system with a software or something like that or do I need a different system ?
1.) i’m so glad gtis have a ton of weeds/marijuanas containers everywhere 2.) have u tried storing the trunk lid thingy underneath the trunk where the spare tire is? apparently there’s a diagram underneath the lid saying u can but i’m an idiot and don’t know how 3.) i also heard DSG models have launch control. holding down the traction control for more than 3 seconds to fully take it off, foot on the brake and rev it up to 3k there should be a pop up on the dash saying launch control is activated but i never got it to show up :( have you tried it? mine is a 2017
Make sure it's in sport mode and traction says esc sport when you hold traction. Left foot on the brake right foot pins it. It should hold at 3200 rpms and just let off the brake. Manuals are more fun tho.
About the ESC button when you hold it, it does say "turned off" but some people have said it only turns it off 80% or something like that and you'd have to code it to turn it off 100%. That's just what I heard and ended up turning it off using an OBDeleven. For DSG, yeah there is launch control. my 2016 doesn't show "launch activated" but in the manual it says, left foot on brake, right foot to 3k rpm and send it.
@@LucasHuang can confirm that esc is a power robber, you have to turn asc and esc off via obd11. Felt it bigtime after changing the coding. Ill try to find where i saved the instructions.
It's a fun car I got one but it's not a performance car once it hits 100 the car is no faster then a civic or a pt cruiser maybe when you spend the money to get it unlocked the car might be better
ARentz07 I’ve found it to intervene with the rear brakes a bit too much. Sometimes I do want a little bit of rotation on turn-in, that I can balance with some throttle at the apex. It’s most apparent in the wet, I’ve had times were I’ve planned my entry to the corner and the car just goes haywire, seemingly braking itself at different wheels all over the place, and I just get this awkward understeer slide.
"If you want people to respect you, throw up 3 boost gauges" hahahahaha
I've had my GTI mk7 for two months now and I'm still getting to know her. Very helpful vid and I loved your humor!

I always come back to this vid as motivation for what im saving for

GTIs have plenty of space for oregano lmao

That second level in the trunk actually conceals my toolbox and my emergency kit to give the illusion my trunk is empty :)
It accommodates my Helix subwoofer AND my spare tire (once I took the feet off the subwoofer).

it always goes to the lowest gear possible, even in manual mode... not so nice if you dont expect it and the car suddenly downshifts to 6k rpm
My 15 autobahn dont have the driver seat compartment because of the 12 way power seat i guess.
Also, the upper part of the trunk can be stored below the flap thing

Dude which car dealership do you work at. Doh must be at the volks dealership.
If an MK7 GTI does not have a 'mode' button next to the gear lever, is there no DCC on it? Or can DCC also be reached via the touchscreen?
It means it's not a GTI bruh
The under the seat compartment is where the anti-robbery device resides

Stupid to keep ESC off
I turn it off at all times, except when it's raining. I find it to be way too intrusive and bogs the engine down when I'm trying to accelerate hard.
