    Thanks so much for this video. Very informative. Learned some information I never heard before about kidney stones. As I've had 4 stones in my lifetime. I'm 43 now and my first one was when I was 19. Painful and scary especially when you don't know what is happening to your body to bring on so much pain and agony! Don't wish that on my greatest enemy! So I empathize with anyone suffering from this. I believe most of mine have been from calcium. The first one was because I was on a milk binge for whatever reason. So since then I have cut back on drinking milk and am careful about eating or drinking items with added calcium. Also avoid drinking too much soda, that can bring on stones as well and also eating too much fast food.My first two passed fairly quickly, within days or a week. However, my third one I eventually had surgery after a few months of it not being expelled. Wasn't technically feeling back or abdomen pain anymore, but the constant pressure to urinate or feeling something was still there. Very annoying, so I opted for lithotripsy. I also had to get a stent in place for a few days or so. Very uncomfortable. I guess I've been prone to them. I tend to get them every 5 years or so. Since the third one I looked up what can you do to treat them naturally. So I take Chanca Piedra and that helps break down stones - kidney and gallbladder stones. I took/take them in pill form, but you can also drink it as a tea. Can be found on Amazon or bought from a health store. My more recent one January 12th, started in my back and started working toward my left side and abdomen (here we go again) sharp pain, nausea and vomiting, dull pain and repeat. Tried to ride it out until the morning, but after throwing up for the 4th time, I couldn't take it anymore and went to the ER. Did a scan and found.a 7mm stone. Was given Flomax, Pain Meds, and Nausea medication. Was advised by the pharm to only take the Hydrocodone for only 4 days even though I had plenty extra. Was told it's not good for the kidneys after that - go figure. Plus don't want to become addicted. Anyway, I only had the Flomax for a week. Can bring on side effects - body aches and constipation for me. Continued to take the Chanca Piedra each day sometimes twice a day. Could see fragments in my urine as days went on. Then sometimes nothing. Just passed the stone tonight! February 4th! Thank God! In closing, drink plenty fluids, lemon water, try and take the Chanca Piedra and just be consistent and patient. Eventually they will pass unless they are that huge, but they should at least diminish in size. Good luck guys! Blessings.

      Iam having 3×2mm stone in my right kidney .what it's mean ?iam having a 6mm stone or 3 mm stone ?

    • @micaela665
      @micaela665 2 года назад +2

      @@baraniydharan These are the dimensions of the stone. It measures in your case 6mm diameter one way by 3 mm the other. Our ureters measure approximately 3 mm diameter. So, it's hard & painful to pass a stone larger than the ureter's width.
      So, they either do a procedure called "lithotripsy" which uses soundwaves to break up the stone so it can pass naturally out as we urinate or they will go up and "grab" the stone and manually pull it out.

    I’ve been suffering with kidney stones for about 2 months now. I have 5 stones in my left kidney that vary in sizes. My largest one is 21mm and it sits on my urethra. A stent has been placed over a month ago. My pain is unbearable at times. I’ve lost 50 lbs. I’ve cut out all caffeine potatoes chocolates and more and drink tons of water. I’m tired most of the time due to pain and urinating every 30 minutes to an hour. Now depression has set in. I don’t want to leave the house. I have gone back to the hospital due to pain to get some relief, even if it’s for a little while then back on tramadol again until I can’t take it anymore. ER doctor said it is the largest stone he has seen in his career. I’m just so depressed. Any words of encouragement or advice accepted. Great video.

      @Mark W Update as I spoke too soon. I still had lingering back pain so decided to check if stone has actually passed so had an xray yesterday. I am now been told that the stone is still there stuck in ureter about 3 inches away from the bladder. Damn stone has not moved a millimetre from its location for the last 12 days that's why pain is low level. I was convinced it came out but was wrong. Urologists are too busy due to Covid situation so next appointed available is on 10th Feb. I am now back to drinking extra fluids and doing walking/cycling to help move this stone. I have a feeling some kind of intervention may be needed as I am on my 20th day today!

    Unfortunately, I've recently experienced kidney stones. My right kidney was having multiple spasms to where I couldn't take it anymore.
    I wouldn't compare the pain to childbirth itself but to the labor pains, instead. The kidney pain/spasms were yes, worse than labor pains.

    How can you tell when your kidney stone is moving ? I have had a kidney stone for several years apparently, been having pain in my lower back, hip and lower left abdomen for about two years, nothing terrible, more niggling than anything else - I went for an ultrasound and was told I have a 4mm stone, but that it is in a certain place in my kidney that means it might never move. However in the last month the pain and a feeling of pressure in my abdomen when I am laid down in bed on a night have gotten worse. I have been drinking dilute lemon juice mixed with apple cider vinegar as I have read in numerous places that these are believed to be effective in gently dissolving stones. Your thoughts on this would be much appreciated : )

    I am experiencing severe intermittent pain in my lower back, lower abdomen and stomach. At times it is unbearable. There is some relief with a bowel movement but it returns. After a series of GI tests 2 years ago, the doctor indicated that I had a kidney stone. It evidently is trying to move down the Ureter. I saw a medial assistant who tested my urine and found signs of blood. I am seeing my doctor tomorrow. I am drinking copious amounts of water and using heat and ibuprofen for the pain. I cannot sleep and bear much more of the pain. I hope it passes soon.

    • @ThinkYourHealth

      Usually you have most of the pain because of distention of your kidney capsule as the kidney is trying to eject the stone.You can have pain also when the stone is passing down or obstructing your ureter. Pain usually also stops once the stone reaches your bladder.Once in your bladder, the kidney stone may pass through the urethra (urinary opening) while you are urinating (which may cause pain to start again). Or, it may break into such small fragments that you don’t notice it passing.

    I'm female and just went through a whole saga w/these. Went to the ER one night w/a terrible fever (had had small fevers off and on for months but always got over them). Turns out, I had a 24-milimeter stone (that's not a typo) blocking my ureter and a terrible UTI due to the urine storing up and getting infected. (NOW I know that the little trickle of pee I'd had for months was a problem). Had emergency surgery to place a stent in. 3 days in hospital getting IV antibiotics for infection. Got the huge stone out, through my back, in hospital about 1 month later (had to stay the night). Had a 2nd stone, "only" 10 milimeters and it was blasted (another stent for a week). Turns out, I had hyperparathyroidism (causes too much calcium in your blood and urine) and had parathyroidectomy surgery (2 of the 4 removed). So, 4 sugeries in 4 months. Not fun, am very fit and healthy in all other ways. Worst part was the stents and missing so many workouts. Strange thing, I had absolutely no pain from those two huge stones at all. None.

      Sorry to hear anout the ordeal, but good to hear everything is good now. Although I've had dozens of kidney stones myself, I never had any larger than 10mm. Only one had to be blasted whilst still in the kidney and 6 or 7 operated through the ureter. The others always managed to pass through either in full or by breaking apart. Unfortunately, I did have the worst pain in my life on multiple occasions with these. The doctors told me that indeed people with much bigger stones usually have less or no pain because you dont actually feel them while they are still inside the kidney. It's only once they start to exit the kidney that the pain begins. Though, after so many kidneys, I can confirm this (have 3 stones in 2 kidneys atm and no pain), by now I can sometimes sense whether something is present.

      @@davy9247 Have they not been able to find out what causes them for you? I neglected to say that years ago...about 8 now, I had one random stone (first one) about 3 mm and I passed it and the pain was off the charts! I've had twins (and many other children) and the kidney stone pain was MUCH worse than labor pains. I don't know how you've gone through that more than once. I sure hope they find the cause of yours and wish you all the luck in the world!

      @@purselmer5931 No, unfortunately not. I've been like a guinea pig undergoing countless tests in multiple hospitals, but no one managed to find anything. It hasn't been particularly motivating. With this high frequency, you'd expect to at least see some kind of indication of what could be causing this. Anyway, because kidney stones are often compared to child birth, I try to joke it off by saying: "if these stones were babies, I'd have a very big family by now." 😏
