Quite fascinating the different graves with wonderful stories about them. Dating way back to the 1800's. Some very nice tombstones. Thanks for sharing Chris and Vicky. 👍👍

It is not disrespect, I feel both Vickie and yourself are very respectful . I love history, Graves are our last mark on earth, and record clues of our lives.such amazing Graves in this cemetery.

Thank you for showing us around Blackburn old cemetery and the interesting graves . I don't believe it was disrespectful to show us under the grave stone , I think anyone would be curious . You always good our interest when taking us around .

Vickie said the same about open graves and that the curiosity of people would always get the better. Thats just us as being humans and nothing to do with being disrespectful. Plus, as it shows in the video, this one crypt box kind of burial place was already open for anyone to see and from a distance. We have some interesting stories coming these next three or four weeks, a variety of subject matter too 👍

No worries mate. I knew a few had covered his story so didn't want to tread on old ground, unless of course if people want us to put our spin on it 🤣

I'm not into football but I love the Blackburn Rovers thing on the back of his grave 😊

We thought about doing a Blackburn Rovers video, talking about some of the famous graves in Blackburn, but we have noticed sports videos, especially the shorts we have done, don't do as well 🤔

@@DaysofHorror Yeah, I think sport is a love or hate thing. If you were to do one on Bellevue Aces, I'd be in my element, but I'm not so sure many others would.

Thanks again for another great video. I also find walking around graveyards really fascinating and if you can come across an interesting person or a famous name that's even better. I visited Blackburn Cemetery after one of your previous videos. I don't know if you saw it, but there's a Jewish section in the top right hand corner (presuming you walked in at the Whalley New Road entrance). I was interested by that as I never knew there was a Jewish community in Blackburn at all. I did a bit of research and there was a synagogue and a community around what is now Blackburn Tech. mainly working as tailors and such like. It's great how researching something can often lead to learning about something completely different!
In reply to your question, apparently only people with pre-purchased graves can be buried in the cemetery but I'm not sure what they do if somebody had insisted on being buried with a parent or grandparent already interred there.

Hi Lancy, this is the first part of a double bill from up there as there are just too many headstones and graves to visit in one video. We thought we'd split it into two 👍 But yes, there is so much history to uncover and we just love reading some of the inscriptions on the headstones. For me personally, the older the better, but for Vickie, she kinda likes the more recent ones. I know these kind of videos aren't for everyone's liking but we do try to mix things up to cater for a wider range of viewer. We have three videos already recorded and just need to edit so at least this Easter break has managed to get us in front 🤣

Of course it is not being dis-respective to have a non - intrusive look inside an old crypt. As you say Chris, nothing to be seen, so to my mind - please carry on, as many people are very interested. Loved the video.

If there had been anything to see, we wouldn't have added it to the video. We kind of knew it would be empty as coffins are still buried in the ground with the box over the ground.

Brilliant video! thank you for the trip out in the summer I will visit this Cemetery it's massive and so interesting. I don't think it's disrespectful to look under grave slabs at all anyway I do have a morbid fascination as I know a lot of people do. The footballers graves were very interesting so glad their graves are looked after. I will check out the links at some point so thank you once again and you and Vicky have a lovely weekend. 👏👏👏

Thanks for watching Jules. We love this cemetery and we could possibly make half a dozen or so walk around videos from there but people would get bored watching the same thing from the same cemetery 🤣 This is why we try to break up the stories each weekend, just to hopefully keep people interested as much as we are. We do have one more video (a part two) to this one, but that won't be appearing for a couple of weeks yet.

Chris's stepfather was a loyal Blackburn Rovers fan when he was alive and Chris accompanied him many times to a match even through a Red through and through. Thanks for watching and sharing this with us 😊

I don't find it disrespectful due to how old this type of internment is. The depth of a burial is still observed today. In Oxford we have many of this type of burial which are in a worst state than the one you showed.

I believe the laying of pebblees/stones on graves is a Jewish tradition. I heard Lulu say it on a program such as 'who do you think you are' or something similar, they apparently don't put flowers down.
