Omg that yellow vest lmao. I just got a message from the fleet manager at my OC reminding all of us to wear our vests "anytime you get out of the truck." I'll wear the vest when I'm on Schneider property but if I'm at a customer or anywhere else hell no. I'm cleaning out my truck in a few weeks and gonna drive for a small mom n pop based in my city. Never working for a mega carrier again.
Even Trucker GPS are wrong sometimes. Extra insurance call the shipper for directions

That happens to my niece all the time. She works in a small town and has truckers call her all the time because GPS has sent them almost to an adjoining town!! She even had them ask if she will come guide them where they need to be!!!
The only problem with calling the shipper is nobody like being called for directions anymore, use your GPS, is what they would tell you!!

Back before GPS, we used to plan trips with a RandMcNally Trucker Atlas before starting, then call both shipper and receiver for directions after we knew which highway we needed directions from, and then double check the back of the trucker atlas for the listing of low clerances.
Using ONLY a GPS is LAZINESS. It's also a recipe for disaster.
Every driver has a cell phone now, so there is no reason he/she can't also check Google Maps for overhead views in cities and locate impossible areas that need to be avoided.
I have delivered to compaines in unincorprated areas without having an address or phone number or directions --- long before we had GPS or smart phones. It's called being creative. And THINKING.
Trip planning with an atlas also involves planning fuel stops, sleeping,breaks, avoiding some heavy traffic areas as certain times, etc. Just plugging an address into a GPS and starting to drive is absurdly lazy and stupid.

As a new driver, I found this channel hilarious because of all the relatable things I’ve seen and it honestly has taught me to think before I release my brakes.
That being said, can we stop with the fuel pump harassment? I had a camera in my face because I was having issues with the pump and had to go inside to pay. I grabbed a sprite, went to the counter and paid for my fuel/sprite and was met by an owner operator waiting at the pump looking to get a clip for this channel. It’s probably the cringiest thing I’ve ever experienced.
If you plan ahead, there’s no reason to be in a hurry when fueling up. A good rule of thumb is to block out an hour for fuel when trip planning. This might seem ridiculous, but it’s worked for me.

I’m sure it’s hard to believe looking at society these days, but I promise you when I rode shotgun in the trucks my father and uncle enjoyed it, and it wasn’t such a shit show like it is now

Just parked up at a restaurant in Texas, on I-45, between Dallas and Houston. A couple of trucks were leaving, as I was walking in. One truck, pulling straight out, somehow managed to clip the front left tire of a BRAND SPANKING NEW Peterbilt. He just kept right on going. You won’t believe the damage!!!
The leaf springs, U-bolts, and spacers, lying on the dirt, tire all whopper-jawed, I mean, he messed this truck up. Hood was cockeyed, I think the windshield was cracked.
I walked into the restaurant as four men were walking out. I asked if any of them were driving the truck that a described. One owned up to being the driver. He was completely blown away at the amount of damage!!! He’d been out like 10 days, and this happens. And the guilty driver just drove away. He’d have to be a moron to not realize that he’d done that. Probably without a license or it was suspended??

Getting the CAT Scale ticket from a phone app was the worst thing anybody could have ever come up with.
Usually the driver using that does everything WHILE sitting on the scale, including sliding his tandems, which does expedite anything for anyone.
Too many drivers have never had sliding tandems explained to them.
I got to the Evanston, WY, POE, and went in to show my papers. A driver was in there for being over axle. From his conversation with the officer on duty, I could tell the driver had no clue what to do, or how to do it. I interjected, because the officer wanted to remain neutral, and offered to help.
After showing my papers, the officer thanked me for volunteering to assist him get his weight adjusted. Our effort worked, as he left before I did.
Amazing how many drivers are set free to roam our nation’s roads, without a clue what they’re doing.
I hope I imparted a bit of wisdom on the young man and that he will research more and became a better driver.
