reminds me of mark mcgwire testifying to congress. "i'm not here to talk about the past, senator; i'm here to talk about qualcomm..." two words toward scaring you straight, matt: joba chamberlain.
*Makes a big fuss about getting his Qualcomm pitch. *The much-hyped pitch sounds like a high school student giving a speech about a topic they don’t know much about, but are trying to wing it to get a C-
I remember listening to this live on the radio. I was working in media at the time and couldn’t believe what was transpiring and what would end up happening.
for all Dan knew, he might of not of been told that certain questions were off limits. He isn't gonna be rude to a guest without knowing what was going
Matt, I know you will see this - Some of us of us not near NYC (quite frankly) don't know much about your injury status. A Royals or Diamondbacks or Mariners fan listening in their home city did not hear your interview with NYC media the day prior. Chalk it up as a learning experience. Commercials (product pitches) are allowed, but only after you complete a 5-7 minute interview. Take care and hope to see you succeed (on the mound) next season.
Alonzo Mourning did something simular to Jim Rome once. I believe he came on his show and told him he was only going to talk about kidney disease and nothing else. at least in that case it was talking about a non-profit and not just shilling some stupid phone product. It's very rude to come on someone's show and do this
You miss the point too. Not everyone listening to the show follows everything about the Mets. Why would I read about him before clicking on a video? Whatever, there is a reason I don't usually comment on RUclips and it is because everyone wants to put others down. Out.
This is where fantasting/fancasting was launched! The soaring heights of Qualcomm and Matt Harvey began here! Also, Johnny Manziel's stellar NFL career was foreshadowed on this episode.
First of all, Harvey has talked enough about his injury already. Secondly Patrick cut him off after the plug was in. He should be asking about his rehab and performance rather than how "scary" the surgery might be. Patrick couldn't hold francesas Jock strap
I know this is 4 years ago, but here is something you don't understand just like Matt Harvey did not understand at first. To address one point you made, Matt said he was NOT going to talk about his arm/deciding not to do Tommy John. Go back and listen. Matt Harvety said himself he was NOT going to talk about it during this interview, they would need a new interview to do that, this interview was ONLY about his Qualcom pitch. But back to the original point, sports fans don't watch sports shows just for the pitches the athletes are going to make. Maybe you do, maybe you do just for the commercials and if so, that;s your prerogative. But even Matt Harvey called in the next day to apologize, even Matt Harvey realized he made a mistake and blew it. To be fair to Matt, it was probably his first pitch and he, although he should have, maybe he didn't know better. I will give him the benefit of the doubt. But don't sit there and act like Dan Patrick should have been thrilled about Qualcom. Dan doesn't get a penny for the pitches the athletes make, he does that as a favor to them for having them come on the show to do an INTERVIEW NOT AN INFOMERCIAL. Common sense man.
"Obviously..." I don't think that word means what Matt thinks it does. "Obviously we're here to honor and talk about Qualcomm.." Honor? You were there to honor Qualcomm? Well that's just stupid, isn't it.
Harvey's...SELF-INFLATED EGO...was his own worst enemy and played a major, contributing factor in his undoing! That said, IMO, this whole Qualcomm debacle (which, btw...I watched/saw live, as it unfolded) was basically the "stepping stone" to his ultimate/eventual downfall! Meaning,...the [justified & deserved] BLOWUP & BACKLASH that Harvs received from the general media, the sports media, and most of all,...the FANS, was too much for this CLOWN to handle, mentally/psychologically/emotionally/etc.! And I appropriately refer to him as a clown because,...from a practical standpoint, the clown,...barely had much more than a small cup o' coffee (big league wise) before he went ahead and got himself TOO BIG for his own damn britches! Additionally, just about EVERY interview that I saw of this CLOWN,...from the period where he (admittedly) showed glimpses of potential stardom,...he came off as an ARROGANT, SELF-ABSORBED, POMPOUS JAG-OFF!! In short, his BLOWUP and his subsequent CRAPPY NUMBERS/STATS couldn't have happened to a more DESERVING fella'! Harvey's a TURD!!
It's part of his job to talk to the media. If he didn't want to do that then he shouldn't have agreed to do the interview. But this was a big story that he choose to decline Tommy John Surgery.
The best part about this is that there is some kind of contest that DP mentions at the end but Harvey says nothing about. And i'm still not sure what exactly Harvey is selling.
That other poster seemed more educated in today's wired world than you. Harvey's news on his injury is on every major sports site - espn, bleacher report, yahoo sports, etc. You can browse to youtube and make a comment but yet can't go to a major sports site?
Seton's head turn at 1:30 when he first mentions Qualcomm is prophetic.
This never gets old
8 years later, I still have no idea what Qualcomm does
Lol seriously, I just think of Qualcomm Stadium
Basically, they sell computer and cell phone parts.
We’re here to honor Qualcomm
I’m here cause Kirk Cousins mentioned the QualComm today ❤🎉
Me too
First time watching the whole thing after Wednesdays show. Dan looking at Todd cracks me 😂
Dan, you are the definition of professional. thanks man
All hail Qualcomm
When Seton's head turns to Paulie at the first mention of Qualcomm...
reminds me of mark mcgwire testifying to congress. "i'm not here to talk about the past, senator; i'm here to talk about qualcomm..."
two words toward scaring you straight, matt: joba chamberlain.
And Qualcomm got the most bang for their buck in advertising history
I think it was actually one of the most entertaining segments. Unintentional comedy
"today's about Qualcomm" lol
*Makes a big fuss about getting his Qualcomm pitch.
*The much-hyped pitch sounds like a high school student giving a speech about a topic they don’t know much about, but are trying to wing it to get a C-
I love how Patrick handled this. He was respectful, and let Harvey get his plug in, and then said "see ya!" Harvey came off as a dick.
I love how bored Dan looks during the pitch.
Trade him to the Padres so he can play at Qualcomm Stadium!
"Thanks Matt."
"Your Qualcomm." (ass)
Dan's face at 2:30 is priceless
I remember listening to this live on the radio. I was working in media at the time and couldn’t believe what was transpiring and what would end up happening.
Next time if the guest doesn't want to answer questions they don't get to plug their sponsor. Plain and simple.
so glad this is up
Good lord this was damn near a decade ago.
Some of these guys are so delusional. You think Dan is gonna bring you on just to pitch a product and not ask anythine else?
Looks like Dan was delusional he got played then got mad 😂
@@daa_97Matt Harvey apologized.
I wish we had DP thought bubbles for this one
"let's keep the discussion about Rampart please"
I don't even get what Quallcomm © is but I'm going to go buy a bunch of it now. Thanks Matt. (this comment is under copyright protection and trademarked, if you feel the need to copy it or quote it I will report you to Matt Harvey, RUclips, the Police, my Mom and the President).
"obviously" ... I don't think it means what he thinks it means
Dan: "How about we go to Buffalo Wild Wings?"
Seton: "Yayyyy!"
Subtle, but very funny.
no wasted time, Dan. I watch this about once a year.
And they said this guy could pitch!
7 years later and it still just as cringy. Such a brutal “interview” by Harvey.
I remember listening to this live and coming away with such a bizarre feeling.
In light of current events, I hope history shows this as being the first time we met Matt Harvey, Businessman versus Matt Harvey, Pitcher.
“Take that, Fritzy!” lol Seton
Lol he funny dan was like what. It my show
What got to me about this first of all was that monotone voice. Like the teacher on Ferris Bueller. Bueller.... Bueller
Classic, Qualcomm got so much publicity here. 😂😂
Thing no one ever brings up is the poll question at the end. 57% were right!
"Today we are honoring and supporting Qualcom"
I'm sure this interview was supposed to go for 10 minutes or so...I've never seen DP cut an interview short like this. Less than 5 minutes!!!!!
legendary
fritzy was fearing for his job lol
for all Dan knew, he might of not of been told that certain questions were off limits. He isn't gonna be rude to a guest without knowing what was going
This is an all-timer!
Matt, I know you will see this - Some of us of us not near NYC (quite frankly) don't know much about your injury status. Is this the internet? It is my first time here =P
My point was not everyone KNOWS much about his injury. Some of us have lives (family and careers). I guess it went over your head? Oh well!!!
Sorta feel bad for Fritzy -- Dan seemed to think it was his fault.
Now I want some cookies.
Alonzo Mourning did something simular to Jim Rome once. I'm confused as to why Harvey behaved like this, very poor.
Dan should have just said "ok, by" and ended the call.
Use me as today's episode brought me here.
I lost a lot of respect for Matt Harvey because of how poorly he handled this interview. I'm a huge Mets fan and I found myself cringing. Fail.
Matt Harvey for the poor interview
You miss the point too. Not everyone listening to the show follows everything about the Mets. Why would I read about him before clicking on a video? Whatever, there is a reason I don't usually comment on RUclips and it is because everyone wants to put others down. Out.
Per usual Fritz lacking. He must be Dan Patrick’s nephew to be on radio
The interview on Jim Rome went as smooth as silk. Apparently, he's a far better interviewer.
mike dupp sent me here.
I think you're definitely one of the few people who think that.
What's this no more beats head gear got the JBL's on nice move!
No wonder he has a drinking problem.
Shouldve clicked on him
3:28 Todd lol
Well done McLovin, lol.
I don't think Qualcomm interviewed Harvey at all...
lmaoooooooooooooo what a DOOSHHHHBAG HARVEY IS LMAOOOO
The Chargers play at Qualcomm Stadium, not the Padres.
Nobody plays at Qualcomm Stadium, you dingus.
Cody comment was from 6 years ago when the charges did play there... dingus
he.. ain't no pitch man..LOL..
This didn't age well.. whats Qualcomm asks the 20 year old
#qualcom
uhm,No.
Bla bla bla
I blame the mets organization I bet they didnt want him talking about the injury
fantasting?
This is where fantasting/fancasting was launched! The soaring heights of Qualcomm and Matt Harvey began here! Also, Johnny Manziel's stellar NFL career was foreshadowed on this episode.
Harvey, a rookie baseball player, TOOK NOBODY'S SHIT LOL
First of all, Harvey has talked enough about his injury already. Secondly Patrick cut him off after the plug was in. He should be asking about his rehab and performance rather than how "scary" the surgery might be. Patrick couldn't hold francesas Jock strap

Are you posting from 1975? It's called Google. You don't need to listen to a fucking radio show to get news on a guy's injury.
Still great five years out, and after all that shit his plug was a fucking terrible, rambling mess 😂
"Obviously..." I don't think that word means what Matt thinks it does. "Obviously we're here to honor and talk about Qualcomm.." Honor? You were there to honor Qualcomm? Well that's just stupid, isn't it.
This was awesome. "We can setup another call if you like to" cue to Dan's face @ 2:35
Take a shot every time you hear “obviously”
This is where fancasting was lauched and Qualcomm never looked back! Harvey was instrumental to its wild success!!
3:21 everyone’s face is like what the fuck is happening?
Omg how have I never seen this.
Harvey's...SELF-INFLATED EGO...was his own worst enemy and played a major, contributing factor in his undoing! HONOR QUALCOMM
This reflects poorly on Harvey and Qualcomm. He's not media trained to work this in smoothly and it showed.
1:27 seton knew something was wrong....
It's part of his job to talk to the media. If he didn't want to do that then he shouldn't have agreed to do the interview. But this was a big story that he choose to decline Tommy John Surgery.
I just wish they had told him off while he was still on the line.
I'm here in 2022 to hear about Qualcomm!
same!
LOL still the greatest interview of all time!!! Shout to Qualcomm and all the things no one wants to hear about!
The best part about this is that there is some kind of contest that DP mentions at the end but Harvey says nothing about. And i'm still not sure what exactly Harvey is selling.

I came to listen to this after Dan was on Pardon my Take and this was even weirder than Dan described. Hilarious 😂
just lost a lot of respect for Harvey
Harvey just doesn't understand how it works
Yes, but he did end it quickly to his credit.
