    I feel like hes trying to invoke a medieval/renaissance sound, and thats why the guitar is so nuts, because hes treating the guitar like a violin. The steps and organization he's taking with the guitar is very much how a classical violin was played.

    • @abaresongs
      @abaresongs 7 месяцев назад +6

      It’s like they’re bringing a classical element to it as well, the orchestration of the instruments feels like if Beethoven had an 8 string in a sense type of approach. The way they approach the guitars have really no repeating motif and just ascend and descend and reaches climatic points that then either fizzle out or explode to a chaotic end

    • @nimagarthe
      @nimagarthe 3 месяца назад +3

      It’s because many things he plays are straight up from J.S.Bach. The parts where the classical comes in, is from Bachs 4. Invention. The riffs are very Bach as well and I love it.

    must be a french-speaking artist I'd say. By looking at their songs more than half of them are french words or french names;
    - "Lisette" & "Madeleine" are common french names, Since the theme is pretty much catholic stuff, it might refer to Marie-Madeleine, the woman who washed Jesus feet
    - "Annonciation" is a biblical term having to do with the moment when an angel told Mary that she'd be pregnant and would birth Jesus pretty much (might screw this one up but last time I read anything catholic dates back 20+ years)
    - "Dégenèse" is pretty much the opposite of the Genesis, so some kind of De-creation of all things :p

    The picture is of Mary Magalene, a woman saint who apparently followed Jesus and witnessed his crucifixion and resurrection. Michelangelo Merisi painted her in 1600 basically having an orgasm for some reason but thats why there is a baroque "medieval" vibe to it. Really creatively themed on the artists part. @@JCaleb I'm sure Nik gets it more than most people. There's nothing wrong with both of your opinions. Neither take is an L take, dude, just some people want riffs or chords or note structures to loop back around at some point. There have been a lot of "you won't hear the same riff twice in our songs" kind of bands, and those bands write or wrote some good stuff, but for someone like me, if I hear a catchy riff or a hook, I usually wanna hear it again. Not get teased with it once and than that's it, ya know? Like, I understood him saying "hey, maybe the beginning part could've also closed the song, cause that might've given the track a bit more structure." I'm paraphrasing, but that's kind of what he said. I mean, early Humanity's Last Breath does do stuff like that, where they'll revisit riffs, and loop things back around, open and close a song with the same riff and stuff like that. Not every thall act is as chaotic as this track would make you believe, this particular artist just wanted to explore that side of thall on a ramped up scale. Also, I don't think adding more structure to thall would soften the genre or take away its unique feeling or something, it's just taking aspects of that chaos and controlling it a bit more for people who enjoy bits and piece of a track like this, but as a whole, won't ever go back to it, and I'm sure at one point that will happen, and we'll all have the kind of thall that we want.

    I need a time machine, some huge battery banks, and some bigass speakers so I can go back in time to crash one of Mozart's performances and play this in front of Joseph II instead. I NEED to see everybody having a 1700's style mental breakdown hearing this.

    Kinda miss some vocals in this. But you're right, a lot aren't ready to tackle this level of chaos. Honestly, Aaron Matts after doing ten56 could probably lay some dummy thick bars over it.

    Not your usual metal but you should definitely check out Utsu-P. Japanese metal producer that uses vocaloids (yes, Hatsune Miku for example) for singing and screaming. Good starting points are "Vulgar", "Ga" and "Bizarre Food". I think they will surprise you.

    Idk this isn't scary. It's just very loud and chaotic. I personally feel fear listening to proper dark experimental ambient like in the beginning. Listen to any Jacob Kirkegaard recording, scary af because it is very drony, silent low key sounds like horror game music right before the action starts. Or Herbst9, Deathprod, or netflix 1899 series soundtrack which was written literally on sunken ships and submarines. This one in very cool in terms of guitar playing and mixing tho
