The two of you being able to do lots of things together, at your age, is priceless. Never forget these times. They can be gone in an instant. Take care.
Hello our Alaskan Beauties. You 4 really put some light in my life. Please know that. This World really needs more good ppl like u and others I watch.💝🤘
The fact that the two of you can do so many things together, at this age, is priceless. I LOVE YOU..
I can't believe how far you've come since moving to Alaska. I'm so impressed with everything done, and I especially love your videos! In less than a year, I can't believe all that you've done to your land (your garden is amazing), but now your artistic ability is showing through on your videos. Simply living is working well for you...
So the title of the video made me laugh and here's why. When my sister and I were young, my sister would only eat halibut. One time my mother got salmon, and knowing how my sister was, she told her it was pink Halibut. :)
I agree with your sister. I don't like salmon at all but love halibut.
@@rocketmom60 She eats salmon now and we both love it. One of the best tasting fish.
I always love the underwater cam footage. I’ve been watching your playlist in order to get caught up to all the ones before this year when I found your channel. You & your life are impressive! Thanks for all you share.
August 6, 2019----Thanks for the memories. Did 2 years at Elmendorf (77-79) and did a lot fishing on the Kenai. A bunch of us in the barracks would get together and head down there as a group. Once back at the barracks, crank up the 6 smokers, clean the fish, then repeat by going back to the Kenai the next day when possible. Believe me, when the salmon were running, we went back A LOT, with the smokers running for a couple of weeks. Get off work after midnight, kick back, drink beer and chomp away on smoked salmon. Supervisor had a camper on his truck and one weekend we found a river maybe 30' wide that had so many humpies in them it looked like you could walk to the other side without getting your feet wet. The ONLY time I got tired of catching fish.
Is there a video on how y'all met, dated, married, etc?? I'd love to see your entire journey of getting where y'all are today. My grandson and I absolutely love your channel!
I also love that you guys don't put in a lot of music in your videos. I love hearing the sounds of the fire and the other nature noises.
I told you guys the first time I watched your page that people will flock to you.. Awesome...!!! Definitely my favorite channel..!! Great fishing day. Dinner looked so good. Have a fantastic day you two..!!
living Off Grid McGarvey style thank you 😊
The dogs are my favorite in your videos I just love them, we are animal lovers and its so fun watching your dogs. Take care of each other you have something most of the world don't ( LOVE ) for life and each other.
I have been once in Alaska. It was summer time. I was fishing too for Salmon, but I never before I was scary many people by the River. 🥰
Nice couple nice life.😄😄😄
She is living the life goals.
Just a little tip. Get yourself a plastic grass welcome mat to clean the fish on. They won't slide around and it makes it easier to fillet.
Enjoy the wood chips :-)
Jonathan Broline hey great idea thank you! And thanks again for those we loved your shop you guys are building!
Agree 100% with Jonathan!
Almost any "welcome" mat will work.
My parents spent 2 summers in Alaska in a cab over camper. My mom canned about 130 pints of salmon the first year & over 200 the second year. It was delicious. She caught a 20 & 30 lb. King salmon. They had a blast. Mom said that she thought she died & went to heaven. Love & Hugs from Vicki in Ft. Worth, Texas 🇨🇱🇺🇸
FINALLY!!! A person who puts pepper on their food like I do! I love black pepper. 😋
I can't wait to see what your volunteer squash looks like hope you show us. Fish look yummy. Ty for your videos. I admire you all so much.⚘
You guys are made for each other. I enjoy seeing happy people. You are adapting so well to Alaska
Congratulations
Good job with the use of music and slow mo on your intro! Your enthusiasm is refreshing. Thanks!
It’s great to see how your videos mature each week, I’d venture to say that you are both growing with each added day in your new home. Thank you for sharing with us.
You’re living of my dream.. li like simple life an d nature... love this showw..thanks for sharing👍🏻👍🏻☝️
You always put so much content into your vlogs, love watching you both.
I just love watching the two of you. You are living the dream. So happy for you. There was a time we wanted to let it all go and leave but family issues held us back so it is so nice to watch you guys. One more thing you really do need to do a cookbook👍. Enjoy
Great video guys! I love the river to plate aspect in addition to the full utilization of the fish.
We lived in AK for 3 years in the early 80s. It was snagging season so we took visiting family fishing. I was 8 mos pregnant with our third child. Wearing waders up to my chest I looked like a fishing whale. Had a good time. We would have stayed in AK forever but felt our young children needed to be close to family.
Awesome video, I love seeing people champion the undesirable species! I live in BC and we have had an abysmal chinook run this year, we all need to start eating pinks and chum and spread the word before the kings are gone.
Chum is fum!
I like Chum salmon, use it anyway I’d use tuna.
One thing I have noticed from your videos. She is graceful in a way that looks like she doesn't waste energy. I don't know if that makes sense and like I am not infatuated, I just mean something graceful about her. Enjoy your things. Such variety. Building, cooking, canning, the moose recovery was awesome. Keep it up guys.
Don’t mind me... just rewatching all your videos 😋
YOur channel is DYNAMIC! You do stuff instead of just talking about stuff. Enjoying it!
Yep
I have not seen anything dynamic about these videos.
Katherine McChesney No one is forcing you to watch ☺
Katherine McChesney where’s your videos? And y are u here?
The intro is awesome. You guys are fantastic! I love your dogs too btw
I just wanted to say, Thanks for inspiring me on my homestead journey.
Wife and I enjoyed this video. Great job !
Enjoyed the video. Loved seeing big happy dog!!
Cheers from Arkansas!!
What a fun outing, I felt like I was right there with you guys. You're doing a great job with your channel keep up the good work.
50 Acres & a Cabin thank you 😁
Loved the photography, the music -- everything. Y'all do a great job! Thank you!
The bread looks awesome! Great channel and, as a city dweller, I love to see what you accomplish. You are an inspiration.
You guys are real proffessional, and talented!!
I'd lije to see the brining and canning process. Great stuff you guys!
What a beautiful life you two have made! Thanks for sharing!
Alaska is so beautiful and that you can drive down the road and catch Salmon is so awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Ah man, those dogs would love the roe straight away. We buy salmon all the way down here in Louisiana. My family isn't crazy about fish unless I put an etouffee sauce over it. A good way to make it taste a little different.
I can hear the cat saying "Wheres my fish?" lol
ahaha
Cheers for the Video! Forgive me for chiming in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you heard about - Fonmich Strength Smasher (Have a quick look on google can't remember the place now)? It is a good exclusive guide for achieving more power and muscle without the headache. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my old buddy Taylor finally got cool success with it.
It is REALLY nice to see you two and the dogs at the river doing some fishing! A nice change from all the digging and ahoveling you did to build the root cellar. Hopefully you'll catch plenty and be able to put some away for winter. If you don't you can always enjoy the day fishing!
We have been back home 1 week today from our trip to Alaska. It was a great time. Saw the pinks in several rivers.
I like the fact that you're prepared to defend yourself against any 🐻 Bear attack while you are salmon 🐟 fishing. You're a SMART Man 👍🏾🎣
Dogs having so much fun 😍 Salmon Caviar yum 😋 sockeye $15.00 small jar 🏺
I love pink Salmon. Nice that you got some fishing in. Love the drone shots, I seen lots in the water as the drone flew over. Nice video! So glad you enjoyed eating it, it looked really good.
Yummy! That dip looks amazing!
This is by far the best series on RUclips! My wife and I have learned so much from both of you. Thanks!
Being that I was born and raised in Alaska with Dad that had a plane and went fishing all the time I became a real salmon snob and would only eat Reds and Silver's and the occasional King. After moving to Wisconsin and craving fish I now will eat canned red salmon. When you see a fresh frozen fillet a red for $30 I can't justify it. Canned is just fine for me now. I would even eat your canned pinks!
Absolutely love your channel. Keep up the great videos. Thank you for sharing!!
Love this video! Fishing and cooking my favs from you guys!
A curing and canning video on this salmon would be great!
it is a vid they did on it, not real detailed but ok. ruclips.net/video/PjtzledOcKc/видео.html
Caviar
My dog just eats the heads and anything left over raw! Good video!
Luv the blues too - great job on keepin it real - ya guys rock / nice job - thank you for sharing - & have a blessed day - kirk out for now
Watching this ,made my bucket list bigger. Thanks for the video.
Dude where can i find a perfect woman like yours??? North philippines mostly lived in a veggieful backyards...i love the both of you...simple life at its best!Godbless...
Big time jealous of you guys lol. I know pinks are not considered to be the best salmon, but hey, they're still salmon😉 Great video as always 👍
Great job guys! I totally enjoy your videos. It looks like you guys are building a beautiful homestead! Looking forward to following you on your channel
We love salmon grilled with pecans and maple syrup put on at the end. Yum
Just love your channel. Hope one day I get to spend at least a few days at an off grid cabin in Alaska! Greetings from Brazil
Beautiful fresh salmon. Fried? What you need is wasabi and soy sauce, and have it as sashimi!
10-4 on the wasabi!
Nice! That looks so good, I can almost smell the fire 🔥 and salmon 🙋🏼♀️
Absolutely love your video! There are numerous reasons, but for me, the fact that you showed us the incredible beauty that abounds there, as opposed to many other videographers who must have their face in the screenshot 99% of the time, excellent job!
Greg Flores thank you! Alaska is a beautiful place 😀
Actually fresh water fish can be eat as sushi also! I work in a sushi restaurant, what you need is just simple salted soy sauce and keep the fish at 2 degree. Bon appitite!
You might want to cure and freeze your eggs for bait.
Video was great!!
I’m from Baltimore, Maryland I’ve been watching you for a while now and your togetherness is awesome
I grew up in Anchorage. Your videos make me miss Alaska so much
Man. I can't even get my fiancé to do some light gardening 😂
Rethink that, you may be in for a lifetime of frustration.
@@wisconsinfarmer4742 too late as of 2 weeks ago! It's okay I enjoy it a lot and he works more around the house. I spend more time in the garden, so I benefit from my work, and get first dibs on the produce. (I share too but after I had the first bite hehe)
Love your videos! If I could suggest: lower the sound of the music or raise the voice sound so that after you talk the music doesn't blast. "My Self Reliance" channel will give you great insights on camera angles, and sound, You guys are amazing! You'll have million+. Keep the photography up-camera, lens, etc.
Those fish look tasty. Awesome drone footage too. I like the way you approach self-sufficiency. Great video. Cheers from Australia. Jeff 👍😀
Great video! I love fishing and your videos! enjoy your life, every minute of it.
The other advantage to the drone is for spotting BEARS in the area.
That's what the dogs are for
You can also find big foot and ufos.
In the Pacific Northwest they are Bigfoot, up in Canada... Sasquatches, over in the Himalayas they have the Yeti. Up in Alaska... those are just registered voters.
It’s so fresh u should try Shashimi dip with soy n wasabi
She did mention, a lot have worms.
Great video keep em coming thanks for sharing great fishing.
Thank you for following the laws of the State that shows that you kids are not only knowledgeable but honest
I use lemon pepper butter rapped in foil.on open fire
grill the bread. also, when cooking use fresh herbs and lemon.
Love you. And love the music you choose. Makes it more fun to watch sometimes. Great job editing
I cant wait to get back up there to fly fish. Great video guy's. 👍
Excuse me sir. WTH are you doing throwing awesome looking salmon roe away?
Rinse, salt, eat.
yea, was kinda surprised to see that
Exactly...costs a fortune to buy. I was like- wait!! The roe!!! 😩
Or you can smoke the roe as well.
Yeah, my favorite thing is rice with some dried seaweed and salmon roe on top. Super common in Japan and super delicious. Highly recommend trying it.
I almost had a heart attack! My favorite salmon caviar going into compost pile!!! In Russia, they eat it on pancakes, or just with plain white bread and butter. For me, it is the best part of salmon.
I lived in Valdez, Alaska for many years, and have NEVER eaten a spawnie pink salmon. Those humpies dont look very good in my eyes, but whatever. Honest opinion.
Brian Lence Absolutely it is a preference ☺
Pink is tasty. People have a bias against it because others say it's not good. Most people can't tell the difference between types of fish. My wife "hates" catfish but sometimes I'll cook it up and tell her it's something else and she says it's her favorite fish lol.
Loved the video.....music......and I always love watching your dogs 😜❤️
A LOT of waste.... the roe, the head...head is good for soup.... or grill the whole thing.. its fresh... jmo.
I was mad for the roe... you literally can live off of roes alone for their nutrient density
Randy Smetter Exactly! I wish I can get them raw here
Agreed, hell I catch the salmon run every year specifically for the roe, one of the best things in the world to eat if you prepare it properly. I love my dog and all but that roe is all me
@Hingle McCringleberry the fish eggs
Catching your dinner -- no fresher than that.
My grandparents used to make salmon pie with pink salmon. Grew up on it so yummy 😊
You guys are just eating outside, that is so much fun. Love you guys. Stay safe! From Central KY
Hey that looked like caviar there. I see you used it as compost- I guess it's no good to eat?
its salmon roe and its incredible to eat, I was amazed they threw it into the compost pile. it isnt everyones favourite though - some people say its too salty, but that all depends on how you prepare it.
I'm envious! You two have got it going on up there.
What part of Alaska are you in?
Ruben Fletcher we are in Willow ☺
All the fun of whackamole and you get to eat fish when you're done! Absolutely love your channel.
That looks amazing. I love trying fish in different ways to see how I like it best.
Doesn't tapping them on the head like that give them a headache?😂
Just a brief one :)
I've heard it helps them taste better. A quick death is less stressful.
The salmon eggs are to good for dogs or compost.
Or you can eat them yourself. Just add a little salt. Tastes great!
@@mathiasstielzchen2227 they also make great salmon bait
Them some nice looking Pink's, glad you had a good time
Great video guys. Alaska has so many salmon. You'll really enjoy your hard work in the winter. Bon appetit.
"THAT jalapeno spicy" He gets all sad and says it is? So the wife ends up saying the dip he made is good
lmao
I prefer sockeye salmon.I find pink does not have much flavour.
Cold smoked salmon is amazing. Give it a shot one time. The cold smoke prior to cooking brings out an amazing flavor in the meat. Great video again guys. Thank you.
I love this channel! Equal parts for each person, a real team approach to videos and chores. You guys are awesome! :0)
Stormy Tuesday Appreciate that!
