This is so wonderful to bring to people's attention. You are correct, we need to learn the Love Languages to whom we are close to and cherish. I too am "acts of service" and then touch, hugs- affection is important to me because my Parents always showed affection of love for each other. We were raised with hugs and kisses and truth and words of wisdom from my parents and grandparents. As I listen to your stories, it resonates so close to home for me and brings back all the feelings of what my family meant and how blessed I was to have this love. Unfortunately my Mother, Grandmother and Grandfather have passed away, but the memories I will be forever grateful for. Thank you Ruth!
You articulate things so well in such a relatable way. My mom died 7 months ago and she and i were like oil and water too.. it was rough.. i really wish i could have a do over.. 😔. ..but.. i feel like ive cultivated a very good relationship w my own daughter.. love the love languages. 🕊️
I liked the fact that Mrs. McKenzie didn’t just focus on the part of the love language of the spouse but rather described the five love language with different people within family, friends, in general. It’s seems that the Five love language text is more to identify how a person show love and how the other person identifies it. So it appears that the book by Gary Chapman goes beyond how spouces express intimacy in different ways. Thank for sharing your thoughts and Hopefully will get that book.( ps. My doughier and I are two different poles but we meet in the middle).🙏
The book sounds worth reading and it can help not only with my children but future family in laws. Thank you and looking forward to watching you on youtube.
Thank you Ruth for sharing a large part of your experiences, it is very helpful and so gracious of you! Hoping that some younger Moms can see this and use that book as a tool to know they’re are on the right path and not always questioning themselves in these lives and tomes❤. Your children are very fortunate to have such a great mom
I have added that book to my purchase list. One of my girlfriends told me about it awhile back and I forgot all about it. I must say I so enjoy all your videos. I think you should have your own show on TV! ❤
I remember my son and daughter in law reading this book when they realized they needed a little guidance in how to relate to each other better. It was amazing when they realized she was acts of kindness (when he helped with the dishes or laundry or children.... he was touch. My son has been an affectionate and demonstrative person all his life, and she was not. Now they have a much better relationship , in that each was willing to give the other what they needed. BTW... he is the best hugger ever! Whenever I go for a visit, I realaize how much I miss those bear hugs!!! They are rejuvenating!
I went to make coffee cake and it called for 2 sticks of butter. Our butter in Australia comes in 250 gms blocks. Can someone tell me what measurement is a stick please
Really good video! Thank you for being vulnerable with your story about your Mom because it helps us (me) a lot. I once commented in another video of yours that I would like to see vulnerability in videos instead of what seems to always be the perfect family, perfect relations, perfect house and gardens. I got that here and I learned sooo much from it.

Can you be one type of love language as a giver and are a different type as a receiver ?
I think so! We are all a little bit of each on the giving and receiving end :-)
60 year old Marth 😊

1 stick is 113 gm or half a cup as per internet. Happy baking 😊
