Autonomous Self-Reconfigurable Locomotive Robot: designed and built by Muhammad Hasan Shariq for BEng Mechanical Engineering Honours Project (2009-2010) at Heriot-Watt University, Dubai Campus.
Supervisor:
- Dr. Sibi Chacko
Main Components:
1) Axon Microcontroller
2) 6V 3200mAh Re/ch. Battery
3) 1 Infrared Sensor
4) 2 Light Sensors
5) 21 Hitec Servos
6) Aluminium Brackets
Functions:
1) Walk on four legs
2) Pass through a gap of minimum 8cm
3) Roll up a ramp up to 45º slope
4) Climb a height up to 12 cm
5) Crawl on irregular surfaces
Practical Applications:
1) Military missions
2) Exploration of planets
3) Rescue operations
This is one of the most amazing things I've seen. I was blown away, and when I saw the "Crawl on irregular surfaces" with the "swimming on land" routine, I was in awe. Amazing.
Thanks. I had to improvise with its 'walking' for my project, but it does have to stand and walk upright as that's the only configuration where it can detect all types of obstruction (all tasks) - a lower configuration would not identify slope, stairs, etc.
now they can start making transformer robots the size of a real car, I like that.
I was really impressed by the last transformation. Great work!
This is now one of my favorite robots. Well done.
Very impressive! This is the single coolest robot I have seen yet! Like the theme song as well! Thank you!
Superb job................a really must watch video.!!!!
Absolutely mesmerizing!
This is so insanely awsome!! Really well done!!
Awesome job! Really impressive. Keep up this great work!
That is some cool engineering and programming..well done
masha allah koi to hai jo musalmano ka naam roshan kar raha hai duniya ko bata raha hai ke hum bhi kum nahi lage raho bhai
really nice robot , I bet you had a lot of sleepless nights configuring the software ... great job
Awesome work! And it's fully autonomous, Unbelievable!
dude.. you are a genius.. :D
A deep impression! It is so beautiful!
WELL DONE MAN! you are going to make an impact. I am happy to see such talent.
Good work! I appreciate your contribution to MechE.
This is too awesome. This is why I study mechanical engineering!!
As a final year Mechanical Engineering student. this is amazing.
