because disney spent so much money investing in it with marketing, toys, tv shows, products, etc... that the box office sales and toy sales didnt earn enough of a profit to keep the franchise viable (they oversold the idea too much, while I loved tron and wish it kept going, I dont think they should have tried THAT hard so maybe they could have scaled back on the kid stuff and maybe have done a more limited run of collectables and cartoon stuff) Also the poor sales of the tomorrowland movie made Disney rethink that the original sci-fi genre isn't worth putting more money in and to stick with classic tried and true movies such as the live action remakes of cartoon films and proven sci-fi such as star wars (although Disney definitely learned how to f that franchise up)
Disney has been hiring some pretty popular but not good directors. the guy who directed the force awakens apparently had not idea how the plot arcs would wrap up when he was making it, so when a good director did the last jedi, everyone hated him for throwing away the other director's useless directionless plotlines. ruining things is a collaborative effort, much like how this movie was hated at the time for not following the previous movie's themes.
I personally think this movie is a little more epic than the film itself mostly because the speeches just feel more grand especially the part where: Clu: "KEVIN FLYNN WHERE ARE YOU NOW?!!!!!" and he is back on his sanctuary hearing it that far away
why does clu's face in this movie look better than all of the cgi characters that have appeared in recent star wars films? it's certainly not perfect but it looks pretty good for something that came out more than half a decade earlier.
OK So I have a question. Tron : Legacy is 13 years old, and most of the VFX they can do much better today than they could back in 2010. Should they redo the FX and bring them up to date or should they leave them as part of film history?

also right after Disney bought star wars. since tron was to be their sci fi franchise like star wars they no longer needed it
