"Everyones new cpus are borked" then "intels new cpus curve differently than old intel or AMD" and "low convexity for flat cpus, like AMD" Sounds like not an everyone problem tbh.
wait why are you saying EVERYONE's is borked, AMD made the flat part flat, intel is the one whose flat parts are curving, intel is the only reason there's discussion of "convexity" with regards to a part that is designed to be a flat rectangle, they're selling one special fan for intel's fucked up processors, and a normal fan for all the other processors that stay flat
Yeah this is wild. So they are basically warping due to high heats, and do so in a certain way. So these guys are selling things to fit those curves? Dafuq? Yeah your idea sounds like such a simple fix. So much so that I am like why isn't it done.
PTM Honeywell sir, it already exists. Phase changing basically let the thermal paste melt and go pretty much liquid at high temps, covering all or most the spots instead of leaving air bubbles from deformation. It can last up to 10 years too. It's what's been saving the laptop market in the past years but now ppl are even using on desktops bcs of the lid deformation and hot spot issues. (Also it's not popular bcs it's only manufactured by China, there's no equivalent anywhere. Even Lenovo basically ships it from China just to rebrand with their name but they don't sell it themselves, they only put in their laptops at the factory).
Yeah, Noctua made their cooler just technically better by making a few different models for specific CPUs, mods, new fans and some better density and an extra pipe. But still, so little difference and a cheap 280 does better for much less money. I hope in 10 years they somehow design something with three rows of fins and still fit in a case or whatever. We need something new. Maybe all copper?
The reason laptops manage to cool CPU of same specs better sometimes is because the CPU is basically integrated into the cooler and has no need for thermal paste inbetween, rlly that applies to any chips where this is done they cool much better.
I'm constantly thinking about how I don't know if I put enough paste on my cpu but it's temps stay steady and in spec so I'm just not gonna mess with it for now lol
In my 40 years alive, everything gets more and more expensive (putting inflation aside) and the quality keeps getting lower and lower. The only thing anyone cares about is getting their hands on as much of your money nowadays, what they sell you is insignificant.
I buy contact frames for my CPU's, it just makes sense. If im spending north of $1,500 on a CPU, MB and AIO, why not spend 15-45 bucks on a contact frame?
CPU companies trying their damned best to make products with designs made to fail on purpose while companies with integrity are engineering fixes to the purposefully flawed designs
Mine is still a 2500K. I acquired several of them from works years ago, and I can still drag them kicking and screaming to 5ghz. I have a couple of 3570k's too, which are useful when I really need pcie3 instead of pcie2 - like for my infiniband cards. They were top of the line back when I stopped gaming, so I've never needed to upgrade. I have 4 or 5 laying around in a desk drawer because it's hard to find good boards for them without paying the earth.
Why does noctua care about intel the current intel CPUs are so bad no one buys them so why waste money designing a cooler only a couple of thousand people will buy?
Cause not all countries got access to AMD chips. I cant even find a good one in my place and all I see is Intel. Hell my local computer shop only has Intel cpus.
honestly, im surprised more people arent using the little thermal grizzly plates for intel to flatten it out and get better temps and contact
those contact frames void your warranty
I dont have problem with curving cpus with 12 gen temps around 55°c

go watch the gamers nexus video on this, both bend in different ways. only AM4 had a flat surface, AM5 is warped just like intel.

So sounds like AMD cpus are fine and Intels are f*cked eh?
Unfortunately that doesn't go a long way in explaining why there are 3 coolers.
Can't they just make the IHS flat? They're manufacturing things that are nanometers in scale but can't make a flat piece of metal?
It was flat out of the box. But the retention kit bent them.
That is some new info I havent heard before. Thanks!

Not sure what you're referring to - these coolers, Intel's mounting of the 12-14th gen CPUs, LGA in general?

Lots of them do, it's totally normal 😜
Nah I don't think you're talking about cpus anymore chief 🤣

We already have thermal "pads" that get better the longer you use them. It's a pad when you stick it on but turns into liquid when heated.
