I legitimately got better just from changing mindset. I never journaled, meditated, uncovered deep traumas or did any somatic tracking. If those tools help you and you enjoy any of that, that's wonderful but not necessary to get better. I hope that reassures people that it's actually much simpler and easier than all of that. It's not a complex or mystical process. It's a repetitive and banal one but if you are patient and persistent it does work. I believe with every fiber of my being that anyone can get better if they commit to it. When you start caring more about your life and less about symptoms, the process has a way of taking care of itself. There's really nothing one needs to "do" or "try" to eliminate the symptoms because they cease to have a purpose once you re engage with life.

Holy crap - this is exactly what I was thinking was true. We don't need to get lost in some mystical emotional discovery and meditating till we reach "Zen". I will share this with my group to make sure they hear your message loud and clear. Thank you. Thank you.

    Superb success story !
My aunty who is 65yrs old began to suffer from back ache for the first time 2 years ago.
She visited her doctor and was mri scanned , hey presto disc bulge and disc degeneration disease, ooooh scary stuff !!.
She suffered for two years and became very depressed.
One day she decided to call her sister who also suffered the same symptoms many years ago .
Her sister told her these few words, "Do not worry about it , do not think about it, refuse to fall into the depression rabbit hole anymore and get out live your life and mix with people. It is your state of misery that your feeling in your back."
With these few words of advice my aunty did just the above and is now 100% pain free !. No social media, no tms experts, no youtube , no journaling, no feeling, no books . Nothing but a decision to stress no more about her symptoms and live life.
Just a few uncomplicated words of advice from her sisters own experience . I asked her " how did the recovery present it self to you " ?. She replied "it was like a piece of string that eventually snapped in two and that was it ! "

I'm from Manchester, England and when you mentioned about how you know people in the UK living in these stuffy households that really struck a chord with me. As well as a rageaholic father and indifferent mother, they forever stopped me from enjoying myself. I remember winning the Lancashire Rugby Cup as a 16 year old and my father telling me "you'll have better days then since, it's only junior rugby". I started experiencing noticeably severe TMS symptoms at 18, although experienced them before, and it wasn't until four years at 21 that I found out I had TMS. I have generally been much better since but always struggled with the whole 'feeling of the emotion aspect'. Despite plenty of therapy with TMS psychotherapists I've found your videos and your explanations to be the best help and motivator to getting on track with practicing a healthy mindset practice everyday. Thanks for another great video 😊

A line I heard recently (maybe you said it!) was “love your life more than you hate your pain.“ I think that’s what you’re saying here. Get busy living a full and meaningful life... don’t spend your time focusing on the pain, and it will fade away eventually. And I’m sure journaling has a place for many people. But in my case anyway, I find it’s much more helpful if I just get out there and live my life.

This one is Good. I related very much to this one. I was raised in America by my very stuffy English grandmother after the murder-suicide of my parents when I was seven. There was A lot of anger! Do you think I might have decided anger was dangerous? Which I am saying fecisiously. And my grandmother worried terribly..because she lost four of her five children to death. Do you think maybe she may have reason to worry?! And my grandfather committed suicide after a financial failure. As you can see..I had a very messy childhood. Then I married a very controlling man in a very controlling religion. He had a terrible temper. I was not allowed to disagree with him about anything or think for myself or express an opinion. I Did Learn to Fear Anger!! I have learned to Forgive and understand Everyone..But I think what you are saying..is that I Need to Forgive MySelf. This seems to be the Hard part for me. I am one of those Dr. Sarno talked about that needed extra help and between you and him and my digging deep..I think I am getting There. I have been able to allow myself to make mistakes and forgive myself better and really just Be Me. The pain is reduced so I know I am making headway. Fixing this just means Facing Life and Forgiving yourself and others. Is Sounds Simple..but is Hard after certain life experiences and long conditioning. And you brought another issue here..genetics..which plays it’s role too. Thank You! I just have to keep going!

I read your story, and I am so sorry you had to go through all that. Sounds like you are doing a great job healing yourself - I hope you keep up the good work. I know you will, you deserve to have a peaceful pain free life! I could relate a bit - I married a loving but jealous and controlling man, although I didn't realize it for a long time (I was was young when I met him, and very needy). Over the years I got stronger while he got weaker but more close minded and then prescription drug addicted. Finally after 38 years I had enough and wanted out, but to try to control me one last time he killed himself. The trauma and guilt I feel is unbelievable. It's been exactly 18 months now and I still dream about him almost every night and get so emotional when I think of him. And WISH he was still here, negativity and all. I'm glad though that he didn't take me with him. I have 2 children and 3 grandchildren who are keeping me afloat, but with the pandemic I feel so alone these days. Well, I just got a puppy, and I think that is going to help. Sure keeps me busy! Lol. Anyway, good luck to you on your journey. ❤️

Thank You so Much for sharing your Story. You certainly have not had it easy. The one good thing that comes from this..(I guess you could say). Is that we become more compassionate as a result of our experience. I am so sorry you have had to deal with tragedy too. And are still dealing with it. I have forgiven my past pretty much..but my problem Now..is that I met a man I Loved so very much..we had two wonderful years together and then he left me. That was 20 years ago. I tried..but I could never move on and I miss him terribly..so I relate to your Story too. My life seems one big tragedy. I agree with You! We deserve better! I pray EveryDay for God to Bless us All..to Make us Well and Bring us Love. I got a puppy a few years back and I remember the visits to the yard in the middle of the night and the bottle of vinegar water I kept to clean up the accidents. Training a puppy Will keep you Busy! Thank You for responding and May God Bless You.

I think this will be my self healing for today(thinking out loud again🙄)& the question is which is worse the pain or the fear it provokes? My pain has been at a minimum the last week or so & it coincided with two social events I was dreading,I breezed them both very successfully, the beer was flowing, great to catch up with friends & great to just feel part of life, feel human ...the hangovers are another topic!
Then come Monday I wake with chronic abdominal pain, the sort where you think this is it it's Hospital time but luckily it subsided & on Wednesday I wake early with back pain & I'm struggling to urinate & constantly feeling the need to...short story the Doctor thinks I have water infection & I'm on a course of antibiotics! There's a couple of points here 1.Think of you're pain like a speedometer & I'm sure people will empathize with this! When you're pain is manageable 50mph & even a little more you the Mindset of TMS is a strong foundation, you can't argue with the science it makes total sense but & it's a Big But!!! When the pain hits you at 90/100mph you're brain goes into self survival. If you're brain thinks that the pain is that bad call an ambulance! Then the TMS theory mindset gets shattered because I believe or imagine TMS pain can't put you in a Hospital emergency ward surely?,I'm sure someone will tell me different! I don't think water infection! I think Cancer ...it's Cancer! The reasoning behind that is I've been struggling for the 3 yrs with pain! Cancer resonates with me because I know one of my findings was inflammation in the stomach...there is a l o n g list of reasons for that but when the Doctor reads through them Cancer kinda stands out & almost brands itself on you're Brain! ...Pain=Cancer😖& this brings me to point 2.Life is a journey of births & death & as we get older we all experience it so I am in No way any different than anyone else traveling lifes road.I watched my Father a tall Strong man more or less turn to a black tortured corpse of a poor soul over three months through cancer until he passed. Some ten or more yrs later I watched my mother's physical & mental health deteriorate to the point where she was sectioned for her own good. She passed some three yrs later after back & forth from hospitals! I just hope her mental illness gave her some comfort from reality before she passed! Ive said before I've had bereavement therapy & in general I thought I'd dealt with their loss has well as anyone can but it's Left with this morbid fear of Cancer/Death & obviously when the pain ramps up to 8&9's The pain endorses The Fear.
I'm sorry if this comment seems a little muddled in its point,it's just I've made some Amazing progress the last few weeks through watching you're videos only to peak by been thrown this curve ball...it's kind of knocked me off balance somewhat,I hope you can see some equation of how you would ever get from water infection to Cancer🙄But ...ah I could go on but ... Nevertheless great video Dan🙏🇬🇧 inspired as Always⛅☀️

Please don't forget that stress suppresses both the immune system and the digestive system. Stressing out about illness that is caused by stress is like pouring gasoline on the fire and wondering why it won't go out. Soothing your body and calming your thinking to get you OUT of the stress response is one of the fastest ways to allow your body to regulate and have more normal digestion and immune function.
And to your point about mindset going out the window when your pain is high, that is the time when a mindset of indifference is MOST beneficial. Do you believe you have TMS? If yes, you know that there is nothing wrong with your body. If unsure, take the pain test: DanBuglio.com/paintest

@@PainFreeYou I do believe I have TMS...but when you get in that mindset & then you actually have a medical condition come along i.e water infection that brings its own pain I'm sure Dan you can see how blurred you're thinking must get.Im/we're rewiring our brains with you're guidance to not fear pain because fear causes pain but putting my irrational fears(my wives terminology not mine🙄)to one side & say the Doctor's right with his Diagnosis...water infection (the diagnosis is irrelevant in many ways)The medication will work in a week's time God willing & I can focus once again on the TMS mindset but my point is you can have TMS,you can rewire to overcome it but however long it takes for you to be pain free you can actually come down with a genuine medical condition that requires medical treatment which for anyone is challenging let alone someone coming to terms with TMS & is going to struggle to separate the two conditions riding side by side.I thank you for you're swift reply & continue to cherish you're knowledge.Perhaps in minimal pain I chose to run before I could walk, Perhaps I flew to close to the sun in happiness, laughter & drank way to much beer that is likely the cause of the water infection (chemist says yeast overload🍻) but I mean cmon all who suffer deserve a break....My painful water infection says otherwise 🙄🙏🇬🇧 Strength to all & I think to answer my own question Fear is the worst! Pain is like waves in a Storm but clear skies are never far away, its peaks & lows but that Old Devil called Fear likes to Hang around a lot longer than any pain! But we're are Stronger together than apart as a community & we will silence those infernal whispers & doubts that fear would have us all wrongly believe. To Tomorrow & the better days to come❤️🙏⛅☀️🇬🇧

I am still relatively new to this whole process, but at first I was very discouraged because even though I have been an avid journaler over the years, I could not “produce” when it came to this process. So what I have found, is that there will be situations that trigger a painful memory for me. At that moment, I need to go ahead and feel it, which is really unpleasant! If it weren’t for the knowledge that this is for the greater good, I would probably continue to stuff those feelings. If I absolutely cannot feel the pain at that moment, I need to jot it down and revisit it later. For instance, emotions will often get triggered at work. In the process of talking to many patients a day, lots of their stories will trigger a painful memory for me. After work, I go back and read what I wrote down about the memory and see if the emotional pain returns. Maybe half the time, the feeling will return and I can process through it. Sometimes it will also generate an apology I need to make to someone whether living or dead. If that person is living, I’ll text them an apology. I don’t wait for it to get forgotten. If the person is dead, I just say what I need to say to that person, forgive if needed, whatever. This might happen a couple of times a week and I just try to stay open to it. I’m not a super emotional person, and I also sometimes feel I’ve processed through a lot of it. I don’t try to force it anymore because I felt that was honestly making things worse, and not in a productive way. Just trying to trust the process and not create unnecessary pain for myself.

Can TMS manifest itself in other parts of the body? I have had chronic facial pain for the past 5 years. In my case it all started with a panic attack. My anxiety slowly diminished but then this facial pain got stronger. I know doctor Sarno worked on treating chronic back pain.I have tried pretty much all the pain meds, antidepressants, botox you name it, nothing has helped...I am tired of fighting with this pain and not being able to resolve it. I developed anisocoria and have had swollen glands for all this time. Eventhough I've taken antibiotics Its hard for me to convince myself that it may be psychosomatic because I don't feel that well and I know that something is not right with my body.

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  4 года назад

Yes, it can manifest itself virtually anywhere in the body. Facial pain too. Take the pain test and if you score over 29, it's TMS. DanBuglio.com/paintest
The type, location, severity or duration of how long you have had the pain does not matter. If it's TMS, it's TMS and the same approach can handle facial pain just as easily as back pain. Remember, the brain is creating the pain. It has nothing to do with the body.
