I would like to add a helpful tip that applies to both men and women: avoid wearing logos and graphics. To each their own-anyone can wear whatever they want-but if the goal is to be approachable, then logos and graphics are a big no. Logos and graphics make the wearer look like a walking billboard and can also make them look juvenile.
Hey Courtney, an idea I have for a fashion focused video would be the best/most trusted clothing companies to buy from when it comes to quality products they provide. You can break it up into several videos like top 10 luxury brand companies or outdoor fashion companies or companies with quality clothing that are affordable. You can even do a video on companies to avoid/have a bad reputation. Something I feel could be helpful, especially these days 😊
Avoid designer brands, for one thing. They charge a ton for products that can be worse than cheaper options from companies that actually care. Dress shoes are an example, since I've seen designer brands charge an arm and a leg for glued soles, rather than going through the effort of constructing them with a proper welt that would allow cobbles to resole them later.
Yes! If someone is making quality clothes that aren't $300 per shirt, please let us know. You would not believe how difficult it is as a man to find quality everyday clothes that fit and last. I'm about to buy fabric and a sewing machine lol
I'm not the kind of guy who posts comments very much. But there is something about CR's content and style that draws me in. I'm a happily married man with 2 beautiful children. So, what and why do I even bother with these videos? I'm not interested in any of it because I am not available. But I am fascinated by this content because I still want to be sought after by my own wife and be that guy who caught her attention in the first place. Even the little things like keeping up with being healthy and fit and clean fingernails, etc. These videos will work for not only single, but married people as well. Even though Courtney Ryan is a major distraction because of her beauty, she still is getting a major point across! Thank you for what you do!
Ironheart denim is definitely S-tier and I would HIGHLY recommend any man purchase a pair. As a guy who has lifted seriously for the last 10+ years and also wanted to get into selvedge denim, I can say the 634-S fit has been a godsend. Very similar to a Levi's 501, but a MAJOR step up in terms of quality and attention to detail.
Lots of great advice and examples of fall wardrobe ensembles. Re: dark wash denim: I have a pair of Gap 1969 dark washed denims that look just as good as those costing $100 or more. The color and fit are spot on! I also have waffle-knit jerseys and a fleece vest to layer over them. I'm well-covered for fall and winter!
You should make a follower outfit tier list or maybe a video where followers submit their fit pics and you rate them and say what they did well or what they could do to make it better or offer alternatives etc
“We love flannel on this channel” (and I love those rhymes anytimes!) ❤ but seriously you are inspiring me to break out my flannel, and appreciate you sharing about the different varieties, which I didn’t know! 😮🎉😊
Brave Star Selvage, based in California, offers excellent selvedge jeans made with legacy denim made in the U.S. in the 60 and 70's as well as selvadge jeans made in Japan. Highly recommended.
thankyou! really good sound advice. classics never do go out of style. i appreciate seeing and hearing the basics/staples of any man's wardrobe without all the overly trendy garbage floating around on social media.
I’d love to see a video on what your top 3 fashion brands look like and why.. My top 3 are Tom Ford, Saint Laurent and Ralph Lauren. Love your content 😊
Fellas, I strongly recommend The Normal Brand for literally all of these items. They have a Banana Republic sort of price point, but like she’s saying, are timeless and will last you season after season.
Really impressed with your knowledge of mens fashion. I was not expecting you to name drop some of the brands you did. Great work! Some of my favorite current brands: A&F, Beams+, Our Legacy, Wythe, Universal Works, New Balance, Freenote Cloth, and Kapital
Following up on your fashion and skin care advice for the past couple of months. I’m just a student in the Courtney Ryan fashion school for men. And it’s nice because tuition is affordable.
Amazing video, Courtney! Just a quick note: cashmere sweaters are definitely not going to last longer than wool or cotton. It stretches relatively easy and is way more delicate than other fabrics. But damn they are soft and warm!
Regarding the trench coat, I advise to buy one that goes beyond the knees. Otherwise, you end up with a wet, soaked patch on your leg above your knee. I have coats in navy and khaki. I stay away from black because I think the other two colors are more versatile.
Courtney, throw in the leather aviator style flight jacket, I constantly get a “you look cute!” when I wear it! Guys, I promise you, aviator jacket with lace up boots to match will make you look crisp 🤌🏽🔥
Dixxon flannels, flint and tinder waxed trucker jacket, plain hoodie (carhartt rain defender, 10 year hoodie, Brahma workwear) and red wing boots are fall essentials 🤌🏼
I love Iron Heart Jeans and have 5 pairs in various cuts. As for USA made denim I can’t speak highly enough of Raleigh Denim Company. Their Jones cut is the perfect slim straight. They fit like a dream and have unparalleled quality and style.
Really great video, as always :) Like that u are using basic things and show how to combine them in the best possible way! Can u maybe put a timeline in to your next vid again? This is really helful, if someone like me wants to find specific stuff in the vids :)
As someone with fashion dyslexia, these are your best videos by far! LOL. Video request: Please make one about sneakers/trainers. In particular, ones that don't look too "gymmy" with giant sporty brand names all over them. Something a bit more smart. Also, what do you suggest for non-white options?
I live in service boots. They elevate your look and boost your confidence, no matter what else you are wearing. Thursday is fine for beginners, but when you are ready for a huge jump in quality, go for Grant Stone. For boot beginners, ordering mail order from these companies and getting the correct size can be stressful. If you are not ready for mail order, go for Red Wing heritage boots. They are American classics for a reason.
I really liked theses recomendations on clothing and shoes. A hot weather edition would be nice tho where I live we have 6 months of summer (really sunny and hot) and 6 months of winter (just rain and and wind, not freezing cold)
Another great video Courtney. I feel like you have some of the more well-rounded approaches out there when it comes to this topic Would love to know your thoughts about the “old money” aesthetic
One note about cashmere sweaters is that they are probably less durable than cotton or wool/merino wool, so it won't necessarily last you much longer simply because it costs more. That said, if you buy a quality cashmere sweater (not cheap ones) and launder it carefully, it should indeed last you years. Standard cotton and wool/merino sweaters would be the more durable and cheaper option, so those are definitely still great.
It's gonna be mid November before I can wear any of my!dress clothes here in Houston. Were hitting 95-98 degrees for the next 10 days, with the heat index in the lower 100's.
Love your channel and your voice is so smooth and comforting. Do men typically stop wearing white sneakers without socks in the fall and winter? Office setting with dress pants, white sneakers, polo or sweater….
I like how you said repeating certain items is by design in your videos and I can't help think it's directed at me! Some times I watch the video and think to myself.."meh"..but the next video you mention things like dark denim i'm like.. yeah yeah she said that last time! Then I'll watch another of your style vids and I think.. okay, those DO look sharp, I gotta check it out..hahaha... I have to say after watching a number of these over the last few years I've gone from the logo/concert t's to more solid colors, neutrals and so on. I will say, i'm a huge fan of Ralph Lauren clothing in general ( Not the bright pinks and greens and so on). They are fairly expensive but their clothes don't shrink or fade and I've had some shirts or pants and even socks for years. regardless of brand, like you say, it's a good investment. Thanks!
I got my buckskin overshirt and heavy flannel from Courtney's list last year ready go. They're actually my go-tos as far as overshirts go. Got some compliments because of them. Ready for Fall. 👕
These videos are great Courtney and i agree with a lot of the advice given. Would be interesting to see a video on more creative/out of the box ways to pair pieces together to achieve certain looks for men. 😊
I feel the heat, not the cold, so layering really isn't something I'm comfortable with unless it's actually freezing cold winter temperatures 🤷🏼♂️ I can literally operate through all of autumn with a single layer t-shirt and a jacket/coat.
Not even a coat or jacket. In Florida, the odds of me even needing long sleeves until "winter" is very low. A couple years ago when it was in the 20s on Christmas was a rare exception.
@@Swearengen1980 I probably should inform you that I live in the UK, where we actually experience the full range of seasons 😅 Temperatures at the moment are around 15°C, and I still only wear max two layers. @Courtney, you visited Tokyo, Japan a few months back. The locals there are very trendy and fashionable regardless of age, generations, and styles. Well Tokyo is considered one of the elite fashion capitals of the world along with Paris and Milan.
Suspenders with a long sleeve flannel shirt with rain boots and a trucker hat definitely one of a kind you’ll have all the ladies staring at u in that type of fall essential outfit

If I buy a shirt with with a logo it has to be a tiny one on the top right hand corner other than that I always buy plain shirts in either black, burgundy, dark grey or sometimes navy blue I only own one shirt in white
Well, I’ve got three flannel shirts (olive green, gray, and green checkered) so I guess I’m ahead of the curve! 😂 Anyways, just curious Courtney, what do you think of fashion pieces that double as conversation pieces? I have a ball cap with a bottle opener on it that I’ll wear out or when traveling and so many people will stop and ask me about it. I tell them the story about how I acquired it and from there I’ll usually engage in a nice conversation with the stranger(s) that asked me about it.
I've locked in on the Thursday Captain (Arizona Adobe) boot from their rugged & resilient line with a rubber sole a while back. I intend to use it for walks in parks (hence the rubber sole) and casual events. Maybe I might go for a Viberg with ChromExcel leather after some years if I really enjoy the service boot style.
Henley thermals are also great...especially if your fit makes you look bigger and tapers your vtaper (if you have one if not what are you waiting for hit the gym boys💪)
I need some winter jacket recommendations. I struggled to find something that was comfortable, stylish, resists water/snow, and wasn't incredibly bulky. Texture and feel tends to be the biggest jacket struggle for the men in my family. Also, do we go for a fur hood? fuzzy? None? So many styles to choose from and some aren't worth the price.
This was very useful, so thank you, Courtney. I’d love if you made a similar video but for summer. Actually, I live in a tropical country, so it’s warm year round. Shorts and tee shirts are my everyday staple (I work from home), so I’m trying to up my game with some style that wears well and comfortably in hot weather. Again, thank you for your videos and tips!
Courtney, I love your videos on fashion. I would like to suggest a few videos for the older guys that love your channel. I'm sure most of your viewers are younger but surely a few are my age. I'm 66 and not as slim as I once was but I still love to dress well. I have always had a career of working with my hands and not always in clean environments, so when I am off work I love to dress up. Now, my wife worked in the corporate world and was always dressed up for work and ready to change into sweatpants and t-shirts when she got home. Star crossed lovers I guess. Anyway, a few videos for us older gentleman would be wonderful. Love your channel. Oh, I also have a watch fetish and have since my high school days, so tell your husband I love his channel also.
my opinion as a 33 year old man into fitness, get yourself a high quality tracksuit and some new tennis shoes. look at brands like Sergio tacchini, about 300 for a tracksuit but much nicer designs and material then say a nike or adidas tracksuit. you will stand out, be warm and comfortable and look active.

Yes, 100%.
Big logos are for children and early teenagers. Men should not wear logos!
