- Hamilton Ventura Edge Dune Limited Edition Watch. Frank Herbert’s Dune is my favorite book/movie series. I’ve been a fan for decades. I was absolutely thrilled to hear about the new movies releasing in theaters. I’m hopeful for more movies in the future. What I wasn’t expecting… Hamilton to release a watch based on a prop from the movie. Is this a gimmick… Absolutely. Did I fall for it… Absolutely. 😁

Love the watch, got one for my Bday. Super excited. I see that my only complaint is felt by others online, should have had a date option in the mix. Other than that. Love the whole presentation. I'm a little surprised you didn't mention that the watch holder base looks like spice sand. The little puck shape sand piece .
I actually didn’t even notice that the base comes out of the larger thumper/holder. I didn’t notice that until I saw someone else’s picture on Instagram. Definitely great packaging. Congratulations and happy birthday.

I first read Dune in 78 when I was 14 and the rest, as they say, is history. Seeing DUNE come to the screen, with current technology, was incredible and Denis crushed it. I have a small but quirky watch collection and when I saw this one, I had to pull the trigger. Great review!

I like this one. I like Dune movie with Kyle M guy . I also like this one because I can swim 🏊 with it but not the other analogue one. Thanks for the review but wife hates it 😮

Cool watch! By my eye, it does fit you well enough, too, which is odd because my wrist is ~19.50cm and I would hesitate to buy this watch based on size alone. It's an expensive indulgence for sure, but you're a big time nerd for both Dune and watches, and I know you enjoy having rare pieces on top of that, so it was a "perfect storm" of factors, and certainly makes sense to me. If you ever wanted to pass it on I'm sure you'd do fine, but I bet you'll hang onto this one. My favorite feature on the watch is probably the _magnificent_ crystal. I do wonder how many failed attempts there are for each crystal that goes into a watch. Anyhow, having paid for it all that's left is to enjoy! I'm sure many people will enjoy seeing it, too, when you do wear it. 🍻
The crystal definitely is my favorite feature too. The press photos don’t really show that off… I didn’t really notice it until I wore it and got lots of comments. Blinding people with the sparkle. And I’ve stated many times… I rarely get comments on my watches. It’s a fun watch to wear. I’m enjoying it.
I am also a big Hamilton fan and have read all the Dune novels and seen the movies. However, I am not inspired by these two watches. I may change my mind if I get to see them in person and try one on my wrist.
I understand. It’s definitely not a traditional watch. I’m very happy with how it wears - super comfortable and not too oversized.
Great review! After looking at the concept image, it kind of makes sense why they went with the 'Elvis' case shape. I think it looks great on the wrist and overall I really dig it... Also, should we get an addendum on your video of movie watches 😁?

2k for a quartz digital watch that look like a watch from wish, i feel like they culd make the inside way better and layered for that price, it looks cool from far but close i feel like they cheaped out.
I agree with that. It’s fun and has personality… but for the price tag the dial could have been upgraded. The case, crystal, strap and everything else is top notch.

I'm back in Michigan I've been in Kentucky helping take care of my 89 year old Stepdad. My mother passed away 6 months ago so he's living by himself so i go down often to help him out. I'll send you my email today. I'll have to watch the Dune movies I've never watched them.

As for Dune - 100% you have to watch it.
Love the watch, but that price is insane. A thousand Euros would be pushing it.
I can’t argue with that. The price is a little out of control… But I guess that’s true for all luxury watches.

I really like the watch and am glad you reviewed it however it is not $2500 nice. IMHO this is just a cash grab from Hamilton to sucker lovers of the genre into paying big money for a Dune theme'd watch. Don't get me wrong I like the styling ect and think it is cool just not worth that price. I think $1000 would put it into the "reasonable" price realm for the Hamilton name and Dune branding. Less expensive than a grand would really seal the deal where as up to even $1500 is something I could see for cashing in on it, I would still think that $1500 is too much though. I will not be buying one at $1500 and will absolutely not be buying one at $2500. That kind of pricing is for the white collar makes 6 digits a year crowd.
Completely agree. It is too expensive for what it is. And once again, I completely agree I got hooked in by the Dune branding. It’s a very nice watch… But shouldn’t be $2500. I’d say a more reasonable price would be $1500 - but shockingly most of the regular higher-end Ventura watches are $1500-$1800.

You cannot say you don’t care about Elvis Presley that’s kind of disrespectful. The movie Dune is your favorite movie. How old are you? I mean if you never saw the first first one and if you did and you steal it that’s great but we are collectors. We don’t buy things that we not gonna wear and I’m pretty sure you’re gonna end up selling that watch for way less money than you pay for less than a year. I’m old enough to have seen the 1984 movie and I’ve read all the Frank Herbert books. I’m a true Dune fan. I’m not sure what the definition for a watch collector is… But my collection is pretty big and I rarely sell anything. I also wear my watches. Watch my state of the collection videos and you’ll see everything sticks around. I think I’m a watch collector. 😁

As a habitual impulse buyer of oddball watches, I support this purchase. Having never read the novel, I am loving the Denis Villeneuve Dune movies so far even though I am quite nostalgic for the David Lynch adaptation.
I’ve always been a 1984 fan too. The Villeneuve version is just so shiny and new - hard to beat.
