Thank you for a nice shout-out, but especially because you decided to continue exploring the ocean of good music, created and performed by Nightwish for more than a quarter of a century. Of course, you have my subscription for that. You know, people call me "general", but I'm glad they accepted me as one of them. The fans are both metalheads and non-metalheads (like me), because their music transcends the boundaries of the genre, as you will see in time - it's practically a real musical universe unfolding in front of us.
Now it's morning here, and I see that there are already 666 :) views, 188 likes and 36 comments in only 5 hours after the post, so I would say that the fans in Europe have just started to wake up.
I'm glad that you take into account the suggestions of the fans, because the enormous diversity of Nightwish's music is difficult to contain in a single comment - I encourage you to find your own way in this ocean. Now Floor is the main singer and many of us are her fans, but Tarja and Anette contributed decisively through their work and talent to the phenomenon that Nightwish is now.
Greetings from Romania! See you in your next one 🤘

Sir, general Gabriel, salute from Finland. I want to ask you something..Have you ever have a change of being contact with anyone from nightwish, from management, band itself or anykind like that?? Maybe you are constantly, or maybe opposite..I dont know. Thats why I ask.
I ask because I think u should get at least minor aknowledgement from band or organization behind them, because your contribution to their success in youtube. If its something that you are not able to to answer for whatever reason, its fine, but if u can offer me any insight, I will follow you to battle allways :).
I was fan of nightwish in Tarja era, stop listening and following when Anette came, now for my very big surprise, it have been one of the most reacted band in whole youtube(they released some thoughts about it I think, have to check it next). I am so happy about Floor in the band. I knew it, but didnt give it so much attention when it happened. I start to believe that maybe this is the best singer overall, tho difficult and stupid to compare it like that. Nowadays one of my main thing in yt have been checking nightwish reactions, and thats why I find you, and whole concept of nightwish army.
Me personally, I am very grateful that there are general like you. Please keep it up.

@@phm19880 That's my 2nd attempt to post this response message, the 1st was filtered by YT bots - I really don't understand why.
Thank you for the appreciation, but this is not my motivation for what I do in promoting Nightwish, to receive recognition. I am happy with the few CDs and T-shirts I bought with my money.
The reason is that I want to see something positive happen in this world full of sadness, failures and disappointments. Until I heard about Nightwish, I had started to lose hope that I would find something really good here. That's why I try to make them known, because they embody those principles, values and energies that have started to disappear: common sense, compassion, love, responsibility, courage, optimism, positivism - and they do all this with talent and elegance.
Maybe what I'm saying seems pompous to you, but the fact that a band like Nightwish exists in the real world gives me hope that there is a future for all of us.

@@phm19880 Hi. I replied to you twice, but both comments are "hidden" by YT, I hope you still see it in the notifications. So I make here another attempt.
I haven't tried to contact Nightwish, and if I ever meet them, I suppose I'll do it at a "meet and greet" like any other fan. I have no ambition to be recognized as something other than what I am, namely a man whose life was changed for the better by their music. I try to make them better known because I think they deserve it, thanks to their message and the artistic way they express themselves.
Thank you for your words of encouragement. I will try to continue to make them known in the future, to the extent that my messages have the support of the majority of fans and to the extent that I feel that I am helping them through what I do.

The only thing hardcore about the NWA is that many fans take stances for who is their favorite vocalist. Most intelligent fans respect and love all 3 vocalists, even though everyone has a preference. Just enjoy the journey. It is no crime to have a preference. I do. Some like harsh vocals, or only male vocals. Nightwish music is all about beautiful majestic melodies and powerful and dramatic musical journey's. And sometime the occasional very heavy music with a little Metallic influence. It is not for everyone, especially US fans who are not exposed to anything outside the cultural norms.
A very unique and special song from a rare and unique band. Almost every song is different, yet still Nightwish.

If by "is the recording the same way", you mean the album studio version, then no. It IS the same song, but it was sung by original lead singer Tarja Turunen on the 2004 album, Once. Tarja is the most operatic of the 3 lead singers. Floor added her touch, and that ending. Every one of the 15 songs at this Wacken 2013 concert was originally recorded with one of the first 2 singers. 2nd singer was Anette Olzon ( from Sweden), she has more of a pop/rock style.
That is a flaming bulls head, it is the logo of the venue, Wacken Open Air. Wacken is a small town in northern Germany, in cattle country.
Nightwish is a live band. Their albums are great, but their lives are, in the opinion of many, even better.

Great Reaction , The Wacken Festival is always in August and here in 2013 it was the bands big introduction of Floor to the metal world . Nightwish was touring in the US in Sept & Oct 2012 when there singer and band had a falling out and they called Floor and asked her if she would fill in and help the band complete the world tour but she would have to learn 15 songs and get on stage in 48 hours . Floor agreed and jumped on a plane and on Oct 1st 2012 in Seattle Wash she did and history was made . the band named her there permanent singer shortly after this show in 2013.

Floor was already well-known to the metal world long before she joined Nightwish. She didn’t just fall out of the sky. Her first band After Forever was active from the mid-1990s until they disbanded in 2009. They shared a lot of fans with Nightwish and even toured Europe opening for Nightwish. When Tarja left in 2005, Floor was a fan favorite to be her replacement. It didn’t happen then, of course, but when it did there was a lot of excitement amongst fans as they already knew what a great match she’d be for Nightwish. Her second band reVamp was also very active on the European metal circuit. Between all that, she was/ is a frequent participant in Arjen Lucassen’s Star One and Ayreon projects. Floor was already a rock star when she joined Nightwish.

Every now and then I stumble over a reaction to this song. Like yours. And I liked it a lot. I don't consider myself as being a part of the Nightwish Army, my musical taste is too wide to be that kind of framed. But I used to be a stagehand and back in time, I worked with them, with exactly that band members. We were putting together Jukka's drumkit and it was freakin' huge. Pretty difficult task - everything has to be in the right place, there are plenty of mics, cables... I was somewhat annoyed and said to my workbuddy, that I would be pretty pissed, if the guy won't utilize all that shit. At this very moment, Jukka showed up, nodded and laughed...
Well, that evening I saw him "utilizing all that shit"😂
One of the best drummers I know. Sadly, he had to retire. He was long suffering from insomnia and tour-life made that even worse. He still is with the band, but management only.
Floor is just unbelieveable. Good looking and being tall might add to her stagepresence, but it takes more. And she has it all. She has the ability to literally command an audience. That "hey-hey-hey" was like rallying her troops to charge into some epic battle. That earned her the nickname "Warrior Princess".
The fact that shortly before Wacken she was announced as the new singer, gives this performance yet an additional twist. She took the hearts of the fans by storm. And at the end of that song, after the very last note, when the roar of the crowd could be heard, she KNEW it. Just look at her face at that moment, the way she bows to the fans. A very special, beautiful moment and the most honest "Thank you" I've ever witnessed from an artist. And I saw a lot.

His movements are so heartfelt, like a graceful ballet at times, and as if he were going into battle other times. He is a machine! It’s understandable why he needed to take a break from it all. The entire Nightwish band is comprised of talent! Every artist brings their absolute best. The different movements and time signature changes keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the score, from the song of what sounds like the call of a siren, to a Gaelic sea shanty, …then to a roaring revenge of Poseidon! It’s like a movie score. One of the best arrangements ever!

👍Nice Reaction, what can one say,it's just so good and the more you listen to them the more you gonna be impressed. As fan's and members of the Nightwish "army" it's hard to not speak about them with great admiration, maby for some it's not their thing, but, people have to admit that they are mastery musicians, especcially live. Maby not the biggest but a very large fanbase all over the world and of all ages, will tell you the same "Nightwish ,one of the most impressive live bands out there"!🤘 Greetings from Spain.😉

I am 69 years around the sun. My first concert was for a band I knew nothing about. It was in Berlin Germany, 1972.
My chums wanted to see that band I had never heard of back then, I wanted to see the band Chicago Transit Authority which were playing on that same night in a larger concert hall but mine was the only vote to see Chicago, everyone else wanted to see this other band in a smaller venue.
So for my first concert I was fully blown away by this unknown band...you've probably heard of them: Pink Floyd!!! (The soundtrack can be found on RUclips under Pink Floyd, Berlin Germany, Sportspalast 1972.)
Since that day I have attended around 100 major concerts over the decades.
    That lengthy autobiography said....
I own the Live at Wacken 2013 CDs and DVDs with Floor as front-woman and Marco as second chair vocalist.
In my humble opinion, absolutely no concert that I have attended has moved me as much as that concert...and I wasn't even there!!!
It is a rare day that I do not listen to something by Nightwish with any of their singers past and present. They all move me to tears. (Yes, that includes both Marco and Troy!)
You mentioned that this band appeals to all ages, I agree! The one show I went to down in LA was attended by many old folks like myself as well as middle aged and younger fans.
I confess that only Lindsey Stirling brings in a wider multi-generational audiance. Miss Lindsey generally draws in us older fans as well as younger fans ranging all the way down to children hardly out of kindergarten!
    But this "book"is about Nightwish.
While I have seen them only once and I've seen Lindsey Stirling 9 times, in my humble opinion, the greatest performance by any band ever had to be Nightwish @Waken 2013.
If only I could go back in time, I would even sell a body part to have been there!!! (No, not one of my body parts but maybe something from one of my old girl-friends!😊)

Hey liked you comments , im a lifelong Floyd fan since 1972 when my dad bought me the Meddle LP after seeing a surfing movie . I love Nightwish but only because of the vocals Floor has the best live voice of a woman ive ever heard . But disagree with your best concert which i have on CD , my fav is the Pulse tour by Floyd by a mile . Im a guitar fan so id put Floyd, Led Zep, Black Sabbath, AC/DC above this band .

    • @christopherchick6419
      @christopherchick6419 6 месяцев назад

@steviesellers To me, that's the beauty of music. Many of us, (definitely me), can not tell you why we like what we like, but we know what we like when we hear it.
I've chums who only listen to this or that music genre and are often stuck in a specific music era as well.
From your list, I dearly love Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. I sorta love one song by AC/DC but I was never really a fan of theirs. (Thunderstruck?)
I grew up on Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Yes, the Who, Uriah Heep, Jethro Tull, etc.
Great guitarists that I have seen were, BB King, Ritchie Blackmore when he was with Deep Purple, Alvin Lee with Ten Years After, Peter Frampton on his own and earlier when he was with Humble Pie, Stevie Ray Vaghn on his last concert tour, Randi Hansen being Jimi Hendrix, and I worked with a band as their photographer when they opened for Joe Satriani.
Newer bands that I like are Wagakki Band*, Walk Off The Earth, Tarja, and my favorite female dancing violinist, Lindsey Stirling.
Growing up, I was attracted to epicness in music, which was why both Pink Floyd and YES were early favorites, as was RUSH, with both Nightwish and Sabaton* as my newer favorites over the past decade.
Regarding Led Zeppelin, missing seeing them live is one of my regrets in life, but I was blessed to have seen soooo many great musicians over the span of half a century, I can not complain.
That all said, Nightwish, Live at Wembly is in my car's CD player and End Of An Era, Wacken 2013, and many other Nightwish CDs fill my console.
While I have a fine collection of CDs from bands I like at home, over the past decade I only put either Lindsey Stirling or more recently Nightwish's CDs in my car's console.
*Odds are, you know who Sabaton is but if not, may I recommend two of their songs: "No Bullets Fly", (the animated version), and Christmas Truce.
If you are unfamiliar with Wagakki Band, may I recommend "Bring Me To Life" accompanied by Ami Lee. That band RAWKS! They use a blend of both modern instruments and traditional Japanese musical Instruments.
Sorry, being almost 70 means that I have lots of time to write books instead of quick replies.

@@steviesellers Ah ha, sounds like we have seen many of the same bands. I confess to a certain amount of jealousy because I have never seen the Sex Pistols or Jeff Beck.
I all but forgot about Frank Zappa and the Mother's, I saw them in Berlin as a kid too.
I've lost track of the shows I have attended as a kid...heck, I've lost track of a lot of stuff since.
In Berlin as a kid, I did see Pink Floyd on their Umma-Gumma tour. Back then we could bring our own wine or get baked on Hash and nobody cared.
Most of those Berlin concerts only cost the princely sum of $2.50-$3.00.
For that price I also saw Humble Pie, The Who, Ten Years After, Grand Funk Railroad, Frank Zappa, Jethro Tull, Elton John, Colloseuim with IF, I saw Rod Stewert and the Faces get their collective butts kicked by an angry audiance, BB King, Joan Baez, Deep Purple...oh I know I left someone out from that 3 year period.
Also during that time in Berlin I saw Tangerine Dream and Golden Earring at a club and Black Sabbath at the Free University. Somewhere else during that time I saw Uriah Heep.
Later while in the Army over in Germany I saw YES on their Tales From a Topographic Ocean tour.
Back here in the states, I saw Frampton, Supertramp, Heart twice, oh and I went to see Styx. Styx had an opening band I'd never heard of back then, they had a big upside down star with a guy in front of it as their banner. While I arrived to watch Styx, I left as a HUGE fan of their opening act: RUSH!!!
I've seen Rush 2 more times.
Due to girlfriends or assistants, I've seen the Scorpions 3 times and Metallica 4 times. Ozzy 4 times, Biohazard once, Alice in Chains once, (met them later as a photographer), Ramstein and Aerosmith. Each of those shows I was dragged off to by a gal-pal or as my photography assistant.
I was commissioned by a venue operator to photograph Suicidal Tendencies and Blue Oyster Cult. I was the official photographer for Seattle Hempfest 2000. (got in a dispute with Artis the Spoonman who did not want me to shoot him. Security escorted him off of the premises). I worked with Gruntruk at that event. I got to be above the stage taking photos of them at 4:20 with thousands of screaming fans as my background)
At the Gorge in George I have seen Santana, Stevie Ray Vaugn (there was an eclipse going on behind that show...it was Stevie Ray Vaughn's last tour. BTW, He opened for Joe Cocker.
While I have only seen Nightwish once, I've now seen Lindsey Stirling 9 times!
I am leaving a lot out but I likely am not allowed to write this book further.

Nightwish Shadow Unit from Estonia reporting in ! 6'1'' Dutch Valkyrie Goddess spotted ! Gabriel Bardac entered !
This is called Symphonic Metal and one of the Titans of that genere !!!
Floor her name is derived from the Roman Goddess of Spring, Flora.
Floor Jansen (third and current singer) is called the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy.
Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 4 octaves (Eb2 to F6).
She can sing from classical to belting and raspy vocals like screaming and death growls. And she's also a voice coach and teacher to boot. Plus, huge vocal nerd 😉.
Floor Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg, where she graduated in 2003. She studied musical theatre and a year of opera. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016.
From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon (Second singer of Nightwish after Tarja) as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour (And she had to learn the setlist in 48h). On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020.
    About hairwhips:
Floor has 3 distinct styles. Head banging(straight forward, then back), hair whip(almost like cracking a bull whip) and the Windmill(continuous 360 degree revolutions). Why Windmill? Well she is Dutch.
And the master of this magic is:
Our Metal Mozart Tuomas Holopainen (founder, leader, keyboardist, songwriter and the main composer for Nightwish)
Tuomas the keyboardist writes about 95% of Nightwish songs, music and lyrics. He also composes the music for the backing track they use. It is recorded in London with musicians from The London Philharmonics. Pip Williams helps with the orchestration. There are two London based choirs too on the backing track, the other one is a children's choir. And of course with a synth you can do a lot.
    Now, few connections:
    Disney connection:
Floor Jansen did covers for two "Frozen" songs and Tuomas Holopainen (Metal Mozart) composed a whole album for Scrooge McDuck (album: ‎"The Life and Times of Scrooge").
    Sabaton connection:
Well, She (Floor Jansen) is married to Sabaton's drummer (Hannes Van Dahl) !!!!
Sabaton and Nightwish are the best storytellers, they don’t play music, they play feelings, they have the most amazing couple in metal and they have the most devoted fanbase. If there is a war in metal, the Nightwish Army and the Sabaton Army would be allies.
This was recorded at the 2013 Wacken (pronounced Vahken) Open Air festival in Germany in front of an audience of 82,000 people (one of the largest heavy metal festivals in the world and one of the largest open-air festivals in Germany). The fiery bull head is the symbol of the festival.
We hope, that there is more coming.
    NWSU/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘.

What Gabriel said! (What Ann said) Nightwish Army, Blue Mountains Corps, Australia. Nightwish since 1996. Floor is from The Netherlands/Holland. She's Dutch so the hair thing is a "windmill" - of course! Mother of Freya and Lucy - so, in Norse mythology, she must be the Goddess named Nerthus (like Gaia)! Her husband is the 6'5" Viking drummer in the band Sabaton, Hannes van Dahl. Wacken has 2000 or so regular inhabitants - for this festival in 2013 there were 82,000 people there! The symbol of Wacken is the bull's head you noticed (Wacken used to be a cow paddock!). Buckle up! It gets better from here on!

The instruments you hear are from the London Philarmonic Orchestra, they played more tracks for them in bigger songs. The keyboard player (Tuomas) is also the composer and his name is also Metal Mozart🥰
This song is a score sir :)

Without going into too much detail, TDSOTM is a multi national supergroup. they came together to record this song just as the result of a bet. Napalm Records signed them just based on that one song (all of them being established artists already might have helped a little bit).

Are those subtitles the official lyrics or has Floor altered them a bit? For some reason I hear her singing "brings me to TEARS (instead of thee) and into blue memories" or "SITTING (instead of singing) on the shoulders of an angel without care for love'n loss"?
In any case, the song is about unrequited love. Therefore, this imaginary love affair would only be scored as a "ghost" score in the title. The song was written at the time when their first singer Tarja Turunen got married. Being jealous on Nightwish main composer Tuomas (keyboardist), Tarja's old school friend, her husband initiated to separate Tarja from the band, which eventually led to Nightwish breaking-up with Tarja in 2005. Tuomas dedicated his angriest song up to date, "Master Passion Greed", to her husband Marcelo. Other songs related to that break-up are "Bye, bye beautiful", dedicated to Tarja, then her response "I walk alone" and "The Poet and the Pendulum", which helped Tuomas bury everything he has left and organize his thoughts for a new beginning.

    • @MacZussie
      @MacZussie 6 месяцев назад

P.S. there's a collage from Dany Ela for Tuomas' song on RUclips, called "Two for Tragedy". After watching all of that footage, in one picture Tuomas was even mirroring Tarja's hair strains, you will have a better understanding, why he wrote "Ghost Love Score".

The bull's skull is the logo of the Wacken Open Air. The festival takes place in a former cow pasture that now serves as a hay meadow.
The contrast between the band's hard sound and a soft female voice is typical of symphonic metal.
The roller coaster is typical of Nightwish. The song is the third longest song performed live.
Floor has “only” 3.5 octaves. Many talented singers have this and female singers range in pitch from this range. Her versatility sets her apart.
    Other Symphonics:
Within Temptation - Bleed Out (official music video)
VISIONS OF ATLANTIS - Pirates Will Return (Official Live Video) | Napalm Records
DELAIN - Masters Of Destiny (Official Video) | Napalm Records

Definitely always best to watch the live tracks, apart from their track "Noise" which I needed to see the official video first before understanding it. A couple you might need to do a bit of research first before watching - "Shoemaker" and "Poet and the Pendulum".

The song was written for the first singer Tarja (j is pronounced as y), and it is different. I always keep thinking whether the opera trained Tarja did not could not or did not want, or Tuomas, the keybordist, did not want to thing with more expression. But as to the order of songs, I guess the next is "Romanticide". With Marko, the former basist and Floor (the song also was written for Tarja and it is even more different). But want a really bad ass song, I suggest to check "Planet Hell" with Tarja and Marko, or their cover of the "Phantom of the Opera". You can receognise the correct videos, because female singer (Tarja) is in bright yellow jacket.

Vocal teachers love singers of "Nightwish", maybe not so much Anette, though she is good, especially in the albums and Tarja is an opera singer after all, but Floor and Marko, especially Marko. For example, during her first reaction one lady told (commenting Marko), that that is what she teaches her students: "If you don't have any voice, at least hit the correct notes". She changed her opinion about Marko.

Originally Floor was sent by Allfather Odhinn to Midgard to gather the souls of fallen warriors to Valhalla, but she
got distracted and joined a series of bands. However, Floor still gathers souls by her grace, beauty and the sheer power
    of her vocals.
We give thanks for her at our Blots regularly and hope that Odhinn won't notice that she has never returned to Asgard.
    ALL HAIL THE VALKYRIE GODDESS!!!
