Sabaton are not playing when they do their videos. They tell the stories in an unbiased viewpoint. All of their songs are based on actual fights, wars, heroes etc.
The Christmas Truce of World War 1 is quite a story. I used to read it to my daughter when she was a little girl. Such a story of shared humanity found in the darkest of times. Can't see something like this happening on any battlefield today. What a great tribute to a great story.
Yes, you do hear Carol Of The Bells, just a few key changes. And, this song is a waltz! Since Sabaton songs are about true, historic military topics... its good to read the video description b4 reacting, bc lyrics often don't give you full context!
Pär, the man at the cross in the end, started Sabaton in 1999 with another set of guys. The singer Joakim is in from the beginning. Tommy is the new kid, joining thern in 2016. The other guitarist Chris, joined around 2012. Hannes, the guy felled by the grenade, is the drummer and joined shortly after Chris. Some of their most requested songs have fab live videos from Wacken 2012. In those you'll see Pär, Joakim and Chris. And another drummer and guitarist. I started listening to Sabaton, much as you did right here. I found Tommy on yt and that led to so much more!
Welcome to the Sabaton rabbit hole. They tell true stories of wartime - without "picking sides" - they tell of valor, mercy, and heroism. If I may suggest, request? My fav is their song "No Bullets Fly" (the animated story version by YarnHub - it's 8:50 long) - it's about the TRUE story of a German pilot who escorted a badly damaged B-17 out of Germany, and the effect it had decades later.
I love Joakim, Sabaton - and Tommy such a great singer. Joakim has a great voice as well. I love Nightwish and Floor. She sang the outro. and the blond long hair guy in the video is her husband.
For their WWI songs: 1916, Price of a mile, The Lady of the Dark, Attack of the Deadmen, The First Soldier, The Red Baron, Devil Dogs, Hellfighters, For WWII: No Bullets Fly, Bismark, To Hell and Back, Defense of Moscow, Screaming Eagles, Uprising, 40:1, The Last Battle, Hearts of Iron. I recommend the animated story video versions where applicable.
the blond guy who was flattened by the grenade, then, the first to climb out of the trench, is the drummer, Hannes Van Dahl, who is married to the Valkyrie Goddess, Floor Jansen of Nightwish....she's the soprano voice of the outre closing credits
Welcome to the Sabaton Army! Yes, Sabaton reaches and grabs you and doesn't let go. All there music has to do with history so be prepared to go down the rabbit hole!
We are all so lucky to have over 20 years of music to listen to from Sabaton and Majestica. To see the depth of talent of this band, listen to Hellfest 2019. This is a legendary concert. Manowar was scheduled, but there was some sort of dust up, and they didn't play, leaving a lot of fans without a band to listen to. Sabaton played instead, but after the 3rd song, Joakim lost his voice. So Chris Rörland and Tommy took turns singing the rest of the songs, with Pär Sundström on bass and Hannes on the drums on top of the tank named for Audie Murphy. The concert is over an hour long, so not sure you'd want to do the whole concert. But it's definitely a great way to learn about the band:) Thanks for your reaction!
great reaction, more please. Sabaton is a Swedish band with a loooong list of history based music. Sabaton also has an award winning history channel that gives background to over 100 if their songs (not music award, academic, aimed at education of the public) . Sabaton videos are often have dedictions and/or messages at the end, perhaps not always but... watching to the very end is frequently well worth it. Nice reaction!🤘 You've finally got into my favourite band!😃 They make awesome music with serious topic. Their official music videos are on the next level! And you definitely got to check out their animated story videos! Not to mention their live videos that will blow your mind! Guaranteed!🤘
Sabaton is NOT Tommy Johanson's band. Sabaton started in 1999 and only two of the guys are oryginal members today. Singer - Joakim Brodén, and basist - Pär Sünström. Tommy does have his band tho. It's MAJESTICA, and if you want to check it out start from "Above the sky" Sabaton is fenomenal band. They sing History without taking sides, just making sure we don't forget. They also have Sabaton History Channel where historian Indy Neidel gives full account of the story behind every song. If you want to listen to more Sabaton my picks would be: "No bullets fly" animated story video, "Devil Dogs", "Ghost Division" live from Woodstock Poland 2012, "Swedish Pagans" live Wacken 2019, "En Livstid I Krig" live from Götteborg. That beautiful voice at the ending credits is Floor Jansen of NIGHTWISH. One VERY important thing. NEVER close Sabaton video before the screen goes completely black, there may be surprises at the end. I almost forgot. Sabaton's latest official music video "1916" is a must!!! 🎶🇵🇱
Shame you missed the glorious voice of Floor Jansen over the closing credits. She is the wife of the Sabaton drummer who in yhis video is the blonde who was blown up and was the first into no-mans land. Incidentally ABSOLUTELY NONE OF YOU WORDS COULD BE HEARD WHILST THE VISUALS ARE RUNNING
Welcome to Sabaton ;) as you may already know, they make songs about actual events and persons in (military) history. No fiction, no glory, but the facts from your Histroy Book. Like this, this really happened on Christmas Day of 1914 on the Western Front of WWI. A good one to get into the topic is the all time classic, the Brown-Stiegler Incident. If you want to learn more, have a look on "No Bullets fly" The animated story by Sabaton...you won´t regret!
Tommy has done a cover of this one as well. He has such a different voice than Joakim som it is like getting 2 different perspective on the same event. Joakim is there in the trenches while Tommy is more telling the story afterwards. Both versions are beautiful. Now you have jumped down in the Sabaton rabbit hole time to dive into Majestica’s as well.
Sabaton is Tommys dayjob and his channel is like his hobby. Sabaton writes songs about war history and actual events and persons. They also have a history channel where they go deeper in the the songs. This song is fantastic and the video but they normally play a little harder music
I've been following Sabaton ever since I heard them for the 1st time ever. Dan Vasc introduced me/us to them via his covers of The Last Stand & Smoking Snakes. I hope he covers even more in the future. In their home state they are able to go hog wild with their pyrotechs, which is so awesome to watch the tank's burst forth upon Johannes's drum beats. Their keyboard is in the Red Baron shell they created. They also created a video game. These guys are insanely creative. I mainly just love their "sound" & the way they opened My interest to history. I'm stoked you like them now too! This Truce song tears me up every time I hear it, as well as their 1816 song by Lemmy. And their Fields of Verdum. But my faves are Night Witches plus Winged Hussars. And their entire essentials play list. Welcome to history, with the best!
I have listened to plenty of Sabaton but had never heard this song before. Will be added to my Christmas music list too as it is a little too heavy in the Bob Rivers songs.🙄😉😂 My great Grandpa was in WW1 but would never talk of it. I remember sitting on the floor by his chair (he lost both legs and about 1/4 of his face) while he told crazy stories of dragons, angels, and lions that he would insist were true.😮 We had a set of books called Canada at War and my all time favorite story was the Christmas Truce of 1914. I read it over and over as a child. Great song but so far have not found a bad Sabaton song. 😉 🥰🥰Hugs from a Canadian Dear🇨🇦
Sabaton are the best for giving life to history. They sing about battles and soldiers of all eras and nations without ever taking sides. They point out thr truly human side of the story. Thus at their concerts you will see Polish fans headbang to German invading forces, Germans to French and Belgian resistance, Turks remembering their Australian enrmies in Gallipoli and much more. As a former Marine I highly recommend their Devil Dogs, either the official music video with footage from live performance or their official lyric video, which toss in some historical pictures of the history. Never seen a Marine vet be dissppointed by that song. It's very invigorating. Tommy did his own solo cover of Christmas Truce last year. It's equally good but emotional in another way. You might end up with both versions on your playlist.😊
Great reaction dude! It's a true story... Sabaton "1916" next please and do the original Motörhead version of "1916" too. Lemmy wrote it after he saw a documentary about the battle of the Somme. Really heart wrenching lyrics.... be prepaired. Greets from Germany dude! By the way, never cut a Sabaton video short... you missed out on the greatest female voice in metal Floor Jansen from Nightwish singing over the credits. She is married to Hannes, the drummer. Also we couldn't hear anything you said in the end, we just heard the video still going...
Sabaton makes incredible videos to enhance their songs meaning. As for Tommy, outside of Sabaton, that's a whole different world. It's like Avi Kaplan outside of Pentatonix - unexpected and amazing. For a lighter Christmas, you may enjoy Hallelujah (original song, not the standard) duet of John Legend and Carrie Underwood - the video, not the live. It is one of my favorites for the holiday.
So happy you liked the video and Sabaton. I found them through Dan Vasc. He covers two of their songs, "The Last Stand" and "Smoking Snakes." Dan also is featured in Minniva cover of Sabaton - Night Witches. The next thing you should do from Sabaton is "The Last Stand." Joakim Broden is the lead vocalist for Sabaton. Lots of info on Sabaton, but this is getting kinda long.
Oh you have some wonderful music to listen to. Sabaton often sings about historical things, often things that happened in wartime. I'd suggest 'No Bullets Fly'.
Sabaton all of their songs are military history based this is their 2nd album dedicated to WW1 the other album was great War it had 1 of my favorite songs on it that song is devil dogs before you ask yes the US MARINES and how they got the name devil dogs in WW1 check out Sabaton history Channel it talks about the history of what the song is about
ONE thing that both reactors and people (as me) wich love to react to reactors react to things i (and many other) like to watch have to think about how to approach each other. Nothing against you though 😁🙏👏
Hey buddy. Just stumbled onto this reaction thanks to YT recommendations. Just a little constructive criticism for you to consider to improve the quality of your content. There is nothing wrong with making comments while the video is playing. I do enjoy reactors that do that as opposed to those that stop the video and make a comment. However, in this case your mic volume was way too low to be heard over the video audio, which was quite loud as well. Fix that, and you're good to go. Other than that, good job buddy. Enjoy the rabbit hole that is Sabaton.
Thanks so much for the feedback. I am always looking to improve the quality of the channel and being still very new to this I appreciate all feedback to help me do that. I will look at the audio and figure out how to improve it! Thanks again!
Dude. As an audio guy, A; your mic was not audible after you took headphones off. B; your mic to source mix needs adjustment. C; you should have enjoyed Floors vocals, a fitting accompaniment. Keep the headphones on, you never know what you may have missed! 😉 🤘🤘🤘
Too bad you ignored the credits and the voice of the best and most versitale female singer of our time Floor Jansen, the current singer of the Symphonic Metal band Nightwish and married to the drummer of Sabaton Hannes Van Dahl. He played the German soldier stunned by the grenade and the first one coming out of the trenches.
Why the hell anyone wouldn't want to listen to the whole song is beyond me. It ruins the experience, and to be honest it's kind of disrespectful to both Sabaton and Floor Jansen who is singing at the end.
Fun Fact: If you ever visit Europe, the "original" Cross they portrayed in the video is still there on a Farmers Field in Flandres
Sabaton are not playing when they do their videos. They tell the stories in an unbiased viewpoint. All of their songs are based on actual fights, wars, heroes etc.
I completely agree and I also want to note that I greatly admire the emotional voice of the lead singer, Joakim Brodén.
@deniseduncan7363 -- Yes. Agreed.
Yes, their videos are more like short films. Amazing talent and creativity!
Sabaton has a channel where they go over the historical basis for their songs; well worth the watch.
Joakim Brodén -Song, keyboard
Pär Sundsrtöm - Bass
Chris Rörland, Tommy Johansson - Guitars
Hannes VanDahl - Drums
In Sabaton Tommy Johansson is one of two guitarists (since 2016)
Majestica (formely ReinXeed) is Tommy's band
He started it 2000 as a solo project
