I’m so sorry I’m just now seeing your comment. I really appreciate what you said. Have you listened to my song “dear friend“?
Vocals have a Badfinger feel to them and I LOVE BADFINGER
I LOVE Badfinger! Thank you!
One day everything will be alright. Good song.

Seriously I LOVE IT, I love the less is more vibe

Thanks so much! It’s great to hear from you so soon! I appreciate the kind words. If you’re ever in Seattle again let me know!
Classic track to me. Thanks😊
Thank you for the kind words!
Great faith-filled message. Love the music and vocals! Keep the faith Jon!
I LOVE One Day, my brother!! ✞ Love the message, melody, mix and bounce. The sound conjoinsTom Petty and Oasis (bands I love wildly) with the ligher-side vocals of Dave Grohl. JUST BILLIANT!! 🎉
This is so playable across all ages and multi genres.
You made my day! Actually my month. Being compared to Tom Petty is as good as I could hope for; as I consider him the last of the great American singer/songwriters. I'm being totally sincere when I say you really made me happy. I can't resist asking if you listened to "Dear Friend" or my most recent cover of "Try A Little Tenderness". Dear Friend is my personal favorite because of the inspiration that just fell from the sky one afternoon. That doesn't happen very often. Thank you again for all your kind comments. ❤✝
@@JonBlackstone Jon you and I are so much alike, I felt the same about Petty, Jeff Lynne and maybe Mike Campbell are a couple of the last of the guard , Grohl is in there too, but we're losing so many of our musical hero's ! Who write in the melodic Rock style. I'd like to invite you to check out some of my music with im sure a lot if your same influences . In RUclips search for Jensongs Band. 98 % of the vocals and instrumentation is me recording onto mostly ADAT though some maybe half analog tape based then overdubbed some tracks on ADAT SVHS
Nicely done! Clean and simple.
Thank you Matthew. If you'd like to hear more of my music go to my website www.jonblackstone.com. I have a new album coming out in March!
You might remember my name as Spencer!

LOVE IT!!!!
Great Song Jon.
I thought you were a music journalist at first. My intro to you was your looong EJ Band video...
Thank you so much! I really appreciate all your kind words. Hope to hear from you again!
This song is also great. I'd like to try myself...
Or.... in words.... “Awesome!”
The signature Blackstone guitar sound is nice to hear. You make smooth and effortless movements of the strings and somehow they sing with muscle and thick tones. The performance and production of the vocals are so well done, I'm compelled to make a claim - the vocal sound is on par with your signature guitar sound. Your harmony vocal really makes the chorus. Of course, I would say that.
Thank you so much Matt! I really appreciate your words. I would have liked you to sing on it. I should have you write a review of my album...
If this is 4 years old then I would say that your lyrics are to the point of this contemporary time of 2023. We are seeing right is wrong and what is true is now false created by a new normal and anti freedom socialist run of atheism and Marxist narratives. Christ said there is not one good man, no, not one. As the Apostle Paul asked “ What is the gospel of your salvation? “ we know that it is found in 1Cor.15:1-4. This is our hope. Trust in the Lord that He died for all of our sins and you shall be saved and sealed until the day of redemption. We have a heavenly hope, Jon. This is not our world and I dare to say that world peace will only come after His return. I do appreciate your optimism and music but it is vital to understand Gods Word “ rightly divided “ 2nd Tim. 2:15 so that we become ambassadors of Christ and proclaim the gospel that saves man today. I wish you success and thank you for your work, Jon.
Loved the song and video! KOMO 4 put out a "very controversial" (shouldn't be) documentary (watched now over 20 million times). "Seattle is Dying" by brave anchor Eric Johnson. Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Is 5:20
I love that sound. Thanks!
Thank you so much! This song is from my album titled "SURVIVE" which is available for download everywhere.
I am beyond words when I say, “. “
Katie Fender Wow Katie that means so much coming from you. Thank you so much! I hope you will share it with others. Blessings to you.
Loved this too especially the line about 'everyone looking at their phone.' It is a fact that we have more means of communication than ever before yet we are more disconnected from each other.
Jon I want to be very upfront and honest with you because I do not like pretending or hiding things that then hide the real you. I did that on another channel and I regret it. It is one thing to be atheist, an agnostic, or believer (person with faith) but to lie to yourself about your own being I think is very wrong hence this post.
I agree very much with the messages of Christianity but I am agnostic. For some this would mean leave the channel but I think you are to intelligent and too genuinely christian in your ways to think like that. The three songs I have heard touch so profoundly on the fragility of humanity and all the tragedies occurring yet also the need to maintain hope. I will respect all commentary but I would ask that people please with genuine thoughtfulness do not try to convert me.
For me, my life journey is one where I form opinions and beliefs based on experiences I encounter and some over-deep thinking. I do listen to others and I try not to judge. Most importantly though I personally believe in being a good, kind person who thinks critically but with fairness and respect. And of course some messages are universal. The messages in all three videos I have watched are, well I certainly hope so. I hope this does not disappoint you. Live by the truth. Not easy but important.
I think one of the reasons we seem to relate to each other is we value authenticity. You don’t have to apologize about where you stand when it comes to faith in God. Quite honestly many of the people who listen to my music are not Christians. I’ve always tried to sing about my faith in a way that was not preaching; but rather sharing from my own life experience what I have discovered about God. In fact I think George Harrison was far more preachy than I am 😆. I’ve had a long journey that led me to the place I am today; and it didn’t begin in a church. I wasn’t raised as a Christian; but I always believed there was a creator. This may sound funny, but my first inclination of God was at a zoo. I was only eight years old; staring at a zebra. In the flash of the moment it occurred to me that someone created this animal. The incredible design and beauty seemed deliberate to me like it was something designed for my enjoyment. I spent the rest of that day looking at the other animals with the same lense. The giraffe was a real mind blower. I was always an artistic kid and it was my perception of deliberate design that led me to seek God. When I became an adult I started reading all the traditional spiritual paths; particularly because of George Harrison. I really wanted to know God and was wondering if all the different religions were pointing in the same direction or not? I discovered they were definitely not pointing in the same direction. One evening while on tour with a band I picked up the Gideons Bible from the bed stand top drawer in my hotel. I cracked it open and started reading the book of John. It was like an explosion of truth blew my head off. I’m not joking. I had been searching about 10 years and finally found what I had been looking for. I knew I had found the truth. That’s my story. Everyone has to walk their own path. I’m old enough to be convinced if a person is sincerely seeking truth they will eventually land upon Jesus. That’s the end of my sermon 😆. On another note: I really like what you said in the first paragraph of your comment. It is a very insightful observation that in these days of mass communication people are more isolated and lonely than ever before. You really ought to be a writer! You’d be an excellent music critic!
@@JonBlackstone Thank you Jon for your understanding. Regardless of where I am your faith rings true which I can not say about all people who proclaim to be Christian. I like the fact your songs include your beliefs but are not preachy. I think when it is not your intention you probably have more likelihood of someone taking your lyrics seriously.
As for me being a writer, kind words but I don't think so. Too old and forgetful for that. I'll be checking out your album later on. Cheers
Great job Jon, thanks!
Terrific Jon - great production, writing, playing and arrangements!
thank you Sean! Coming from you that means a great deal!

Isaiah 5:20 King James Version (KJV)
20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Why did you post this scripture? I am a Christian and I found it really random and strange that you did this. Why?
@@JonBlackstone Hi Jon, It came to my mind when I heard the first minute of your lyrics of your song. Right at the 0:55 mark, you say " What's wrong is right, what's right is wrong." You see it all around you, perversion, coveting, envy, adultery, hatred, etc. seems to be the norm in our day and age ,and it is accepted. For example, churches are being forced to shut down during this plandemic, but BLM and antifa riots are OK. Look at the push for underage sex to be accepted in California. A baker refuses to bake a cake for a gay couple, and he gets persecuted for his beliefs. People get arrested and thrown in jail for not having their children wear a mask and then have their children taken away. but BLM and antifa rioters get away with their shenanigans. Climate change is another example, you are frowned on if you accept fossil fuels... Abortion is good?? Could go on and on Anything to do with the Ten Commandments is now considered bad. Without the Ten Commandments there is no morality. It is the worlds foundation and it is crumbling. Romans 7 v 7What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. We are a rudderless world right now. As your lyric states, One day the world is going to see the light. I was a friend of yours on Fakebook. I deleted my account in early January '21 because of their censorship of my posts and their involvement in the election. Enjoyed our chats. Have a good one brother. God's Grace be with you.
@@lafingguy45 Now I understand! You actually posted your comments on the wrong video. This is my video about my experiences recording with some well known musicians. You intended to post on my song “One Day”. I agree with everything you said by the way. God bless you.

@@JonBlackstoneLOL Would like to see the video recording with some well known musicians. Can you link me up to that video??
Great song Jon, is that you playing the guitar and singing in the video ?
Yes, I played and seeing all of the parts on these recordings. I made this entire album at home more or less, except for the drums wish I recorded in the studio.
@@JonBlackstone thanks for responding, well very impressive, so you played everything ..,but the drums?
I've done that on many of my own songs too, and some I played drums too.
I'm sure with your background and love for Beatles and melodic rock music, you and K would get along great , and probably collaborate on something really Good too.
So did you play to a click track then or use a digital drum program before you had live drums added on ?
I love your piano playing too. I play piano but not half as Good as you. I can play well enough when I'm writing, I then memorize the piano parts . What kind of piano do you use in the studio and what mics do you use? For mics I use a Neumann U-87 from mid 70s . Best investment I ever made. I think I paid between 1100.00 and $1300.00 in mid 80s.
And I really would never sell it unless I'm on my deathbed .
Awesome!

Where are you based out of Jon? Oh and I asked in another post what recording medium you record mainly with ?
Joe about Microphones ? Or amps ?
I answered your question about how I record. But I can’t remember now what video you made that comment on? My first album was recorded on 16 track 2 inch analog tape. That’s the best format I’ve ever recorded in by far. It was engineered by Alison Krauss. His recording engineer who’s won five Grammys for his work on her albums. My second album was recorded part digital part analog. In my most recent album was recorded on a MacBook, using garage band software. I recorded most of it in my room; except for the drums, I went into the studio to record those.
