What seems to be the trouble
Are we feeling out of sorts
Do you think they're gone forever
Can you show me where it hurts
I think I know what's wrong
A lot people get this way
Take two of these four times a day
I'll drop in when I pass this way again
There is no pain, you are receding
A distant ship smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying
When I was a child I had a fever
My hands felt just like two balloons
Now I've got that feeling once again
I can't explain, you would not understand
This is not how I am
I have become comfortably numb
You have to pull yourself together
You have to take it like a man
You mustn't let it get your head down
You should go out and do the town
There's no good moping here alone
Feeling sorry for yourself
Go and see what you can find
It's saturday night and you should unwind
I have literally lost count of the times I've watched this and it still knocks me sideways. Just mind-blowing.
Well it's been 30 years since The Wall come out, I'm a truck driver and have listened to this song every day for 30 years, so that's around 10,950 times I've listened to it, plus I saw The Pulse tour live in Clemson, SC in '94 and Roger Waters The Wall in Pittsburgh, so that's around 10,952 times I've heard it.
Never ever gets old.....
I have also lost count and every time I’m amazed and blown away
@@marcghiggeri4965 listening for over 40 yrs and you should see my reaction while I'm listenimg with you!You would think it was my first time!Fucking crazy!
The greatest guitar solo ever
i was there on the 2nd night at earls court,London, and trust me,it was almost a religious experience.Floyd>>>>> all the others.
Stairway to Heaven! Comf. Numb is 2nd best
Marcin Mrozowski Stairway to heaven is preaty good. I like it.
I TOTALLY AGREE!
Одно из лучших.
10:52. . . The classic reaction to hearing "Comfortably Numb" live for the first time. .
A satisfied quiet smile on your face. . .
happy. .
Glad to be alive to be able to hear and see such perfection. .
no one should die without hearing this
But i would happily die while hearing this...
I saw Floyd in 1973 but I have to say Gilmours expertise definitely improved and no doubt this is a once in a lifetime solo .
Eskay1206 never a truer word spoken
Irish South Sider I’m gonna ask you to do something.
Do not give up... mentally.
Please watch some videos for me.
Dr Bruce Lipton
Joe Dispenza
Don’t ask anyone about them
Don’t research them
Just watch them and ask yourself if maybe, just maybe you could apply what they are saying to your life.
Then just commit.
The reason I say that is because people are negative and create doubts.
What have you got to lose?
I personally know people that have used these techniques and come back from the very edge.
I wish you the very best. ✌️
@Irish South Sider good luck with your treatment.
Glimour is one of the few great rock guitarists that doesn't _feel the need_ to "impress you" by racing his fingers all over the neck of his guitar creating a cacophony of irritating nonsense. He focuses more on emotional quality, layering of sound and establishing tonal unity within whatever song his guitar work is accompanying _...and does so as a true guitar virtuoso!_
Agreed. Mark Knoffler is another one.
good thing! because he doesn't. lame..
EXACTLY!
And the other amazing thing is he can repeat a performance down to the TINIEST nuanced note. . PERFECTLY. . every time!
Or change it ever so slightly to keep the original flavour, but add something new to give it a new life or zest.
In Gilmore's case, less is definitely more.
As a 58 year old I've been a music fan for more years than I care to remember and love music of all ages and genres. I hear so many younger people dismiss groups like Pink Floyd as old farts music without actually listening to it. It was great to watch someone of your age prepared to listen to this without preconceived notions and react with genuine emotion to it, as its what David Gilmour's solos are rightly famous for , it gives me hope that music like this wont be simply forgotten or die. Listening to Pink Floyd is a musical journey I hope you enjoy it as much as I did
They say you do not listen to Pink Floyd, you experience Pink Floyd
Heard this version hundreds of times but it still hits me in my soul every time I hear it..
Always makes me laugh seeing Comfortably Numb reactions. Every time the song finishes the reviewer takes off their headphones and is stick for words and almost dumbfounded at what they just heard. This song reaches in and grabs your soul and takes you on a wonderful journey you never forget.
It starts by giving you goose bumps- then a shiver down your spine- eventually you start to choke up and then it brings tears to your eyes- its that Damn good
Gave you goosebumps didn't it!
I saw this Tour in 1994 in Philadelphia. A warm, still evening. I was with a woman I loved. The show was absolutely stunning. I'm happy to have this memory
.
PA, represent! :) I envy you. I remember the same week I moved to FL (from PA), that the Pulse tour was coming to Tampa (my new city)... I was 13 yrs. old & recall thinking that PF was cool & all, but I had a fairly limited understanding of the band. . . Now, 25 years later, I WISH I had begged my pops to take me to that concert! Must have been unbelievable!
Your facial expression and eyes were mine exactly when I saw it live... I thought I was going to be beamed up by an alien octopus! 😀 It was a phenomenal show!!
The BEST version of Comfortably Numb
YES
there´s two versions on this level: of course this one, but please watch also gilmour 22 years later live in pompeij 2016. he´s aging like good old wine.
Pompei?
pompei, is good very good, but it is not the best version of Comfortably Numb,, Pulse hands down is the Absolute Best version of Comfortably Numb,, The show they put on,, the lights,, the backdrops they were using,, pompei is very good.. but not the best.. to me personally,, this what they did at the Pulse,,is the Absolute Greatest Concert Ever,,So Mind Blowing,, So Epic,, if there is another show out there,, that is better,, have not found it.. and have seen all there is to see,,you name have seen it.. if anyone can know of a better greater show.. post up,, and tell where,, like to see.. Think the rest of the planet,, would like to see to.. Past,, Present,,Future,, Do Not See Anything Coming Close To The Performance,, The Show,, That,,They Put On At The Pulse..
You just heard the most emotional guitar solo of all time ,,period
STAIRWAY
@@arthurdduda8233 Nah
....Absolutely....Agree....The Most Emotional Solo Of All Time..Past..Present.. Future..stairway really you have got to be fvcking joking kidding.. no where fvcking close..have..heard both..been to both.. not even fvcking close..
PERIOD....!!!! MR GILMOUR THANK YOU SO MUCH 🙌🏻🎸🎼
As a guitarist of 40 years experience, having played and listened to all the greats in many genres, This is by a long way the best guitar solo ever. Tone, feel, emotion and technique.... sublime
Saw this in Vancouver '94.
Sat (purposefully) next to the soundboard so that I could see impressive "show".
Looked up, and the mirror ball was right above me.
And then it unfolded. Holy crap.
Painting with a Fender.
Truly an artist.
Love that analogy!
I think this song with this performance should be taught in art class all over the world. This performance should be considered one of the great modern art pieces. The music and the show are so well fitting and both are on an absurdly high level. Even nowadays this show would stand above any competition. Your reaction of being in awe reminds me dearly of the day I witnessed a show in this tour.
Just like all dance classes teach Michael Jackson moves, all music classes (including elementary school and so on) should teach Pink Floyd.
Heck, they should play it in kindergarten.
Nothing beats those last 5 minutes... Out of this world.
Next has to be Shine On You Crazy Diamond :) (Parts I-V for beginning)
TheAskald Agreed! Makes my nipples hard!
This. Dim the lights... beanbag
That wailing siren-like riff near the end that always gets me.
Best solo of all time. Ever ever ever! You dont have to say any more. David Gilmour, please live forever.
Earl's Court London 1984...I was there on the night. David Gilmour's Phrasing and Feel are second to none. He reaches into your Soul and Twists it. It took me 2 weeks to come back down to earth. Awesome!!!
i love it that all folk are just blown away only about 75% of the way in and it's priceless to watch them make it to the end.
Always beautiful to watch, that disco ball was insane, it measures about 5m across when closed going out to about 7.5m when fully open. And none of us expected it to open! That's when I lost my mind 😁
The minute the light hit that thing, I was blown away. I kept looking at the lights dancing over me. I was completely stunned. And when it opened....
The problem with this version is you anticipate the ending atleast 10 times & each time it starts over & gets better & better, than it finally ends & you’re like 🤔 that’s it 🤷♂️ & speechless cause it’s just simply the best experience you ever had 😎
Greatest guitar work in rock history
I surprisingly became emotional by your succinct yet understanding of the vast musical scale of the Floyd as well as their appeal by so many of us
Simply breathtaking, also this is THE best guitar solo of all time!
Next time you should listen to Echoes live at pompei, another big journey for you!
After that, I reeeeally hope you will start reacting to their albums in their entirety, that would be awesome for us and a mindblowing experience for you my friend :D
I'm honored to have introduced you to this band, I knew you would not regret it :)
I see your best guitar solo claim and raise you 'Shine on..' :)
Marooned
The whole Pulse concert is filled with awesome live music. This version of Comfortably Numb in my opinion blows the studio version out of the water. Plus a live show done to this level of perfection is always a treat to watch. They sure know how to put on a grand live show. "Sorrow" is another song that is very interesting. It's not a big deal that you never came across this song in your history, not everybody has heard every piece of music ever written. It is good though that you are taking suggestions from the comments, different people think different things are the best thing ever. Thanks for posting this.
R.I.P Richard Wright ( July 28 , 1943 - September 15 , 2008 ) .
And on the 7th day. God created David Gilmour.
u cannot create yourself....
*and on the 7th day, David Gilmour created God
And gave him a strat
he is god
'cos the world seemed a little dull!
The most sincere reaction I have seen on video of this EVER!!!! Thank you, from one who saw this live!
I’m 64 yrs old. I saw Pink Floyd in Madison Wisconsin when I was 19 yrs old. Imagine being a young person at their concert. Imagine having your mind blown by such music at such a young age.....live!
Gilmour takes your soul on a ride you hope will last forever.
Love your humor and admiration for beautiful music and talent. I love going on a emotional journey and being swept away.
Epic upon Epic! One of the few shows that you're almost as blown away by the visual as well as the instrumental. The combination in this particular song at this particular time in their history will not be matched for a very very very long time. Reactions like this make watching all of these damn videos worth it! Great job Ruben, letting it play through and just absorb it in it's fullest too.
Great reaction to one of the most powerful pieces of music out there. We all envy you, my friend!
I'd give my balls up to have been there. Goosebumps 🤘
Mr__Stig 😂 me too
I am a PROUD American, but you can't beat Pink Floyd. I think the best band ever formed. American equivalent is probably Steely Dan, in terms of musicianship. But Pink Floyd is way more epic. A Pink Floyd concert is an orgasm of sight and sound. I was fortunate enough to see them in 1987 in Chicago on the Momentary Lapse of Reason tour. Mind blown for the rest of my life. So sad some of the members are gone...
I love Steely Dan, but, this is another dimension.
Saw Floyd in 73 John when Darkside was first performed live in the UK .
all these years later I'm still adamant they are the greatest rock band of all time.
I'm going to be cremated to shine on you crazy diamond as backing.
tekay44 Yoooo... I was gonna type the exact same phrase (“I love Steely Dan, but...”), but you beat me to it! Aces! 🤟🏼
Wow, I too am a member of the "I love Steely Dan, but..." club. Also my favorite US band, but Pink Floyd is other worldly. All these later Comfortably Numb live solos by Gilmour are breathtaking and if I am at a concert, I would feel cheated by the shorter studio version, but...It is still the studio version that gives me my greatest thrill. A shorter ride, no doubt, but sublime. Either way, though, the greatest guitar solo I have ever heard.
Another masterpiece by PF. So glad you are playing them often. 🤘
Love to watch someone who really gets it. That had a hold of your soul!
Love the reaction man!! I felt the same. Respect!!
I was at the concert with 3 school friends, who had seen them before in 1968. We all had the same expression after the concert as you did. A sort of silly grin with a dazed look that signifies you have been changed for the better - for ever. Congratulations, you'll not be the same again.
Excellent analysis. I love how you couched your emotion into logic.
I just subscribed to your channel on this reaction alone :) You can see the smile on your face as it went on and that was cool seeing you feel it the way we all do.
So glad you enjoyed it. Great reaction video. I was lucky enough to see them live.
Great journey ahead of you Ruben... I envy you a little bit. Have fun exploring their music! \m/
Pink Floyd makes me feel like when I just got off a carnival ride emotionally , each song is an adventure .
Nice reaction to a great song and an out of this world guitar solo.....
Exactly the right reaction 😁 . Stunned into silence by the sheer magnificence of the seemingly limitless talents of the band. The light show was good too, which is why I went twice.
I went once . Los Angeles Colluseum,1987.I don't think Stellar, is too strong a word.
Just watched your PF reactions - nicely done. I appreciate the honesty. Articulate, smart reactions.. What's great about these reaction videos is in a way they let you experience your favorite music that you've been listening to all of your life like's its brand new. Thank you for doing this!
how have you never listened to this song before???? how?
I've seen them for this tour (Division Bell)... I wouldn't have hope to be able to see them, and didn't know how historical would have become "Pulse"...
I've heard this live, live... Although it was in Bordeaux, it was my "greatest gig"...
i saw them live in Belgium in 94, wonderful
And are you Belge or a New Zealander ? Well in fact my question is: do you know the Belgium band dEUS ?
i am a new zealander born and raised also with netherlands nationality, i lived in holland from 1993 until 1999 and while there i went to a pink floyd concert in belgium. No never heard of that band but i will check it out.
@Deep South New Zealand - I've been in Holland several time, and the first time might have been in 1999. Breda "pit stop", then sometimes Rotterdam on the road to Amsterdam... Polders are really nice.
And the weed... Well... The weed... :)
dEUS is a great underrated band. It's not really up to the level of Pink Floyd of course, but often, I found that this band gave me that "PF" feeling, don't really know what exactly, but I guess the quality of the work, musically, lyrics, and the diversity of sound "experiments". Although I don't think they did any real "concept album".
I don't know their whole discography, but I've been hooked with those albums: The Worst Case Scenario, In a bar under the sea, and the ideal crash, incidentally, they are from the period you were in Europe, so it might trigger some memory from that time :).
Cheers.
You don't just listen to this. You lie back and let it pour over you. Awesome
Most genuine reaction I've ever seen to this. No overacting, no pausing and "explaining" just sitting there and appreciating it, smiling and ORIGINAL goosebumps.. (the latter is a rarity in reaction videos)
The best thing was knowing, when you saw a powerful emotion triggered by the solo, that something even more mind-blowing was going to happen just a few seconds later.
it's like a musical medicinal healing to our torn and tired soul and spirit. thank you pink floyd.
gerard
"Yeah, that was OK."
LMAO... Subscribed
I love watching you face!!! Perfect reaction to the best guitarist playing the best solo EVER !
Totally love your reaction!!....you have a new sub!!..👍👌✌🤙
So much enjoyment seeing your reactions and expressions hearing something such as this for the first time. Such a beautiful work of art.
Hearing them though head phones is great but being at one of their concerts you feel the music too. The sound waves penetrate your whole body.
I have a old pioneer stereo with 1500 watts.when I play Floyd by myself I plug the headphones in halfway and crank up the speakers. What a vibrating intense experience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love this guys reaction , that`s what music should do.
No matter how much time passes, the guys still sound fresh! Amazing every time I view. Thanks!
Time, I see what you did there!
Loved your reaction to this.
I absolutely love your reaction! I find such joy in watching someone who begins to experience the music of my generation. Music that shaped our lives, our thoughts, our feelings and was a safe haven for all of us in very turbulent time in our country.
This performance is one of the wonders of the world, as is the video. Great reaction and review too. Subscribed.
That solo is absolutely life giving wow. Goosebumps literally every time
I had the privilege to see Pink Floyd live in open air concert in Hamburg in the late 1980's and they were as brilliant as was shown here, it was the concert of my life, one I will never ever forget. 😋
Absolutely perfect the genius of PF, it does not matter how many times i this watch hair stands up goosebumps pure emotional joy
They are my favorite. All through the decades of my life their music has meant different things to me each decade. Their music still gives me the chills and makes me cry after hearing it thousands of times. I hope it stays with as well.
I never tire watching the reactions of people hearing this version for the first time. I had been a fan of Comfortably Numb for decades when I got to see this version live during the Pulse tour and was blown away; in the live show I saw the solo went even longer and I had chills for what seemed like hours afterwards. Groetens van Massachusetts, USA.
The most beautiful and spectacular live solo of all time.
You nailed it on the "emotional storytelling"-part. Couldn't agree more!
EXCELLENT video my friend! I do reactions also and your facial expressions to this art is the reason I continue to share my experiences also, bravo! Glad you liked the show!
Great reaction! Your face runs the gamut of different reactions: concentration, wonder, pensiveness, and joy. Indeed, better late, than never.
I was there in Montreal, 27 years and hundreds of shows later, it is still the most awesome, the most emotional I have seen. I remember my legs were no longer supporting me during this song... This was a monumental moment in music history.
It never gets old.. it’s timeless.. it’s an absolute masterpiece
Man, I haven't heard this version in a very long time! Still got the VHS haha. Definitely a classic.
Hello Ruben! I am a new subscriber.
I have watched lots of music reaction videos, and I love Pink Floyd..... this video is honestly my favourite so far! I love the song, the live performance, I like you and your honest reaction!
That put a big smile on my face, so thank you, Ruben!
We don't simply listen to Pink Floyd..... we experience Pink Floyd.
Yep, if that doesn't give you the chills & goosebumps you may need to check on your heartbeat. I still get them even though I've seen this 100's of times. Its thrilling. Loved watching your reaction.
i feel the same way, thank u, you are a great guy
a work of high art. art on the top levels.
One of those rare songs that fit from start to finish. The other songs that do just that are also made by Pink Floyd. That's food for thought. 🤔 Your reaction is authentic. Ruben. Goosebumps and mindblowing guitar indeed. My face twitches to hearing this. Keep up the good work Ruben.
I’d love to comment, as soon as my head stops spinning. Phenomenal.
Hello brother I have known about your channel for about 8 months and watched the number of your videos but today, I've been listening to Pink Floyd all day as well as other music reaction videos and noticed that you are also listening to Floyd today and posted this video 1 hour ago what a coincidence
From the same Pulse concert, check out High Hopes (try to find a 60fps video for best audio quality). It's just as magical as Comfortably Numb.
Also High Hope's, Live in Gdansk is amazing with a beautiful acoustic outro
What is the Pulse concert?
Ruben, thank you for covering Pink Floyd. From that same live show check out High Hopes from that Pulse tour live, and also Run Like Hell specifically from that Pulse tour. It's the last song and they pulled out all the stops on light show for it! Simply amazing!
Certainly you have heard this excellent performance by Gilmour of this PF classic. Even still...I am glad you are doing it.
No matter how many times I listen to it i hate it when it finishes I don't know how long I want it to go on for, another hour or two might suffice. Absolutely brilliant
I have subscribed purely on the basis of your reaction to this one look at genius!!!
thank you for verry good reaction...good musik+good reaction...im happy :)
I have this concert on DVD and it's great listening to it through my sound system
Have watched a lot of reaction videos to this song and everyone is rightly blown away by it. This guy gets it better than most. Welcome to the machine my friend.
This version is amazing 😊
I've been listening pink Floyd since I was 10,in 1977,this song still hits me as hard now as it did the first time I heard it.loved your reaction dude.
i fill up every time i hear this, its very emotional and probably the greatest guitar solo of them all,i cant think of a better one and I've seen thousands of gigs.of course it helps that i was there :)
Pink Floyd.......simply The Best.
You just can’t get musicianship like this today Pink Floyd went beyond perfection they created a whole new musical landscape and Gilmore is the artist that painted that very landscape in emotional colours that no other guitarist could before or since, This particular version is an emotional tour de force that can never be equaled.
Absolutely spot on
I really enjoyed that reaction!! It was clear that it was having a deep impression on you.
It's truly a great pleasure to witness the moment when someone gets moved by something that you also consider sublime. When you smiled during the first short guitar solo, I actually found myself smiling and literally saying out loud "Oh yes, you're going to enjoy what's coming"!
Now listen to 'Dark Side' as Floyd intended it; ie the whole album in one go ;-)
Hard to believe that anyone on the planet has never seen / heard this. I heard this live in the 80s and for the final time in 94 during the Pulse tour in the States. I can assure you that it's truly one of the most powerful experiences you will ever have...especially in the midst of 80,000 people, quad sound ,outdoors, at night. Life changing....SHINE ON. I
A natural reaction, well done
What a réaction... you hold your tears from the start of this song man.
.... sory i french ...
