Now anyone who orders a charge of cavalry against an unbroken wall of pikes is an imbecile. But spears, yeah, you can break that.

      @giovannipanzeri6431 24 дня назад +7

      @@johnargus9081 pikes give a larger advantage against an horse charge, but spears can be used to the same effect if the infantry is well trained. A cavalry charge could disrupt wathever wall of infantrymen, even armed with pikes or spears if it managed to make contact, but to charge directly a line of well armed men, (they are all using mail and spears so they are trained retainers not common churls) with spears, giving them the time to deploy by securing their spears to the ground, place on uneven terrain is extremely risky. You would try to fight them on a more plain ground and flank them. of course you could try to bet on psichology and hope they would break ranks but they seem relatively well trained.

Effectless mail that can be stabbed through, attacking a formation like this frontally, strange sheet metal shields, giving up any order after the first contact and causing chaos and confusion that in reality would lead to instant end of the battle and more strange choices..

      The armor looks terrible. On more than one character, the chainmail is loose and ill-fitting, to the point of billowing out, leaving the neck and other body parts exposed. No wonder they don’t seem to protect anything. But perhaps there is a justification. Did both armies just emerge from another battle? Even then, good quality mail would not get so distorted as to hang so loosely.

      @ I am wondering if loose armor was actually a thing in practice as it might had been more comfortable 🤔 It’s like soldiers in current times not upholding military doctrine when being in war for long time if you know what I mean. It's an interesting story actually. She is supposed to be Alberta, wife of king Sancho. She is only mentioned in history documents a couple of times, and we know almost nothing about her. Historians believe she was a noble from northern Europe due to her name not fitting Spain at that time. The director probably used that opportunity to turn her into some kind of nordic princess with a warrior culture.

    Too much blood scenes blood spraying in every swing of sword , cut at first strike.. they are wearing steel chain mail shirts, cuts are impossible , piercing might happen but also have to be lucky.
    Tested in ideal condition.
    Fixed non moving human body replicas with chain armour attacked by sharp blades, arrowheads and spears, while spectators were in good condition, and full power strike.
    Be aware that in melee combat fighters are exhausted, they have to swing their heavy weapons while wearing heavy protection gear so each strike has lesser and lesser power if battle last long enough.
    Fighting scenes are interesting for watching of course😊.

    This scene is cringe af. The director doesn't seem to be too good in his craft. The costiumes are mediocre, the acting is poor, the writing terrible, the characters need to constantly narrate everything thats happening because the director either didnt seem capable to relay whats happening on screen in any other way, or he did but thought the viewer to be too stupid to know if person A attacks person B without person C yelling "person A attacks person B!" in a cringe, overly dramatic way. Not to mention the tactics used in the battle look as if a 6 year old invented them.

      You are right, and added to that it is very annoying that they have invented the story of a historical figure; It is understandable that they add non-historical events for the sake of the plot, but they exaggerate regarding the license thereof, I do not expect to see a documentary but a Minimal Coherence and credibility with the characters out of respect for the iconography that they represent for an entire nation . @@genowill7081 The term Moor is an exonym first used by Christian Europeans to designate the Muslim populations of the Maghreb, al-Andalus (Iberian Peninsula), Sicily and Malta during the Middle Ages. Moors are not a single, distinct or self-defined people. The 1911 Encyclopædia Britannica observed that the term had "no real ethnological value." Europeans of the Middle Ages and the early modern period variously applied the name to Arabs, Berbers, and Muslim Europeans.

      @hispanosubversivo It is true that it did not remain Andalusia, but also Constantinople became Islamic and no longer Christian, and our conquests were not without value until now. Islam is in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania and Kosovo. As for the video, it does not matter whether they were victorious or not, because the history of Islam and their victories is too great to be put in a movie. At the end of it, the whole world knows that. The Europeans were paying tribute to the Ottomans, and the Ottomans were marrying the daughters of European kings to protect them.Believe me, Eastern man is one of the founders of civilization. If it were not for the Easterners, the Europeans would not have known how to write. While the Westerners forbade bathing, the Eastern civilization would have flourished and advanced.
