This music still creeps me out sometimes. I loved playing this game at night when everyone was asleep. I also love the atmosphere of this music within the game. This is still one of the few PC games I go back and play often.
its the most awsome soundtrack of diablo EVER because when you will play and hear it you get this creepie feeling like you are supose to. DIABLO 1 i love you
I remember going into those large rooms as a Magician, waiting for the enemies to surround me, then obliterating everything instantly with Chain Lightning! :D
IMO Diablo 1 was the best "experience". D2 had better gameplay, but D1 was darker and more mysterious, and the way it built the world in the tomes you read made everything really believable. I didn't play it just to level up or to grind, I played it because it was a damn compelling game that was actually scary. That's why I can still go back and enjoy it just as much as Diablo 2.
I remember going into those large rooms as a Magician, waiting for the enemies to surround me, then obliterating everything instantly with Chain Lightning! :D Accidently killed my dad's magician a few times with that spell when we got too close together in combat.
Seriously, diablo is supposed to be a GOTHIC style scary RPG. The music STILL haunts my childhood memories to this day. This music actually made you feel like you were battling with the devil
Playing this as a 9 year old I remember entering the dungeon and being introduced to fear itself. Always observing for enemies in the dark and what would happen next ! And then I opened the door to that square room filled with bodies and blood. Never again can I feel that horror when "AHH, FRESH MEAT" was told by the butcher !
The warmth of life has entered my tomb. Prepare yourself mortal to serve my master for eternity! -The Skeleton King. I agree with you that game terrified me as a kid always afraid to open a door or descend down a hallway not knowing what was waiting for me in the dark. I like D2 and 3 but for different reasons, though I find it kind of sad they deviated for the horror aspect of the original to be more hack and slash.
this track made game 3x scarier for me. especially wen u dont see a goblin next to u and they make that "gaaarhh" noise wen they attacked- make me jump a few times
this game will always ALWAYS STAY on my top 10 game of classic/epic games, I used to play with my grand father and my uncle when I was a little kid, bring old memories back, that creepy gothic style will always amaze me, Hope diablo 3 takes that originality back because seriously I preferred diablo 1 than diablo 2 , sure d2 has a better gameplay but for the rest DIABLO 1 FOR THE WIN.
When i first had this game, my computer could only run it with like 3 frames per second. It was slow as hell. The music played good though. And you know what? That was freaking suspenseful! And dont even get me started about the butcher. Ah, memories ...
wow totally forgot about what's coming after 2:50 DAAAAAMN almost better than hell theme. hot damn epic game epic music epic ingame feeling, didn't even need internet, just darken the room, only light coming from screen ... it was hell ... for a 15 year old :)
Always loved Diablo Soundtrack. Only song I liked in Diablo 2 was the Old Tristram Music they re-did. So far Diablo 3 has some decent music but definitely not scary..but who knows, maybe it gets more intense!
i knew i couldn't defeat the butcher, but i wanted to scare myself.. i made a portal near the door. i opened the butcher's door, "squeaked loudly for a second, then ran into the portal safely". i was so young back then.
i played some diablo 3 beta etc and i must say soundtrack isnt as bad as we all thought it would be. it has guitars, they are a little psychedelic, some similarities with starcraft 2 zerg soundtrack for example, but that is a good thing. id say the ones who trashtalk about diablo 3 soundtrack only listened to the main theme... which isnt that bad either - it has d2 act 5 vibe all over it.
Why don't games have this kind of music direction anymore! Pretty much the Diablo 1 and resident evil 2 soundtrack are the only game soundtracks I like.
@NosferatuArkardo Fuck yeah, man... I'm really lookin' forward to it. At first I was skeptical about it... But I think Blizzard knows what they're doin'
i have to play diablo 2 back to hellfire with no sound :( so i just put this on a playlist and have them play at the right times XD reminds me of when i used to watch my parents play this game cuz i was to scared to :3 (i was 3, lol)
well that's the whole point of the music. to scare you. to make you tense and fear what's behind the corner. turning it off just misses the whole point, imo.
@Haroldthe16 Yes indeed your very fucking right The Butcher is still the best demon in D1 The first time i encountered him scared the shit outa me, i was so fuckin surprised when i open the door and this Dark voice " Ahhhh FRESH MEAT!!!" started chasing me until he caught up and made a minced meat outa me
have you even played it? surely diablo 1 soundtrack feels more raw, but diablo 3 really has that psychedelic, ambientish, sinister feel about it. take the latest barbarian reveal trailer video. when it gets to in game footage... its great.
@gruntshunts123 While i agree D2 made vital improvements, and was probably overall a better game content and feature-wise, the first one has so much more atmosphere, and that helps in making a more satisfying experience for many people. D2 had some potential to recreate some of the same atmosphere with the monastery, but the music in there wasn't too interesting, and the overall fear factor was gone. Still, both are great games though. Diablo 1 just needs all quests in MP and less hackers.
yeah me too it stressed me that stupid butcher when I was a kid, always bought a two handed axe from griswold and i kicked he's ass when I had the right timing cause if you dont you wont be able to touch him XD
id agree with the atmosphere part...the music + the fact that everything was so damn dark creeped me out...the music made it worse lol but i think diablo 2 made it more of a story, more interactive and not so much dungeon crawling. I like D2 more because i was immersed in an environment that was akin to a world. We got to know more of what the world of sanctuary was like
fucking mainstream, fucking money, fucking advertisment all this shit caused diablo 3 to be nothing worth. real gamers ain't dumb, they will feel passion in games... for example here just music alone is something that will live forever and will get you every time you listen to it. damn.
@reet12337 It's cause the company called Candor made most of Diablo 1 and near the end blizzard bought the company. So blizzard didn't make most of diablo 1, the people of Candor did.
@M00shu I disagree. Diablo 2's gameplay is oversimplified when compared to 1. Sure, it's nicer having more characters, but character build was more meaningful in Diablo 1, I feel. Plus, the magic item inflaction is ridiculous in Diablo 2. ..
I listen this music every morning when I wake up. It is a good way to start a perfect day.
It feels like an eternity ago, but when you watch this, it feels like yesterday.
I listen to this playlist while I play Diablo 3, and it actually makes the game more enjoyable.
It was this track that I heard at a friend's house that sucked me into buying the game. kudos to the OP for sharing Mr. Uelman's genius.
This music still creeps me out sometimes. I loved playing this game at night when everyone was asleep. I also love the atmosphere of this music within the game. This is still one of the few PC games I go back and play often.
@ManneSiegfried I agree with you. I loved this game and the feeling was great. Thanks for posting @EpicentrumDiablo
its the most awsome soundtrack of diablo EVER because when you will play and hear it you get this creepie feeling like you are supose to.
DIABLO 1 i love you
comparar:
>>diablo soundtrack - tristram village: 3:20
>>Diablo 1 Music Dungeon Theme [Soundtrack part 3/6]: 1:04
>>Diablo 2 soundtrack (Leoric): 1:54
>>Diablo II Music - Intro: 0:0
So damn good! I'm not gonna play D1 anymore I've had my fill of it already but the music.. something as good as this never dies. Positively eerie.
Great music from a classic action-RPG.
Matt is a genius.
I LOVE THE DRUMS!!! at the beggining!!
...creates memories, you won`t forget!
I remember going into those large rooms as a Magician, waiting for the enemies to surround me, then obliterating everything instantly with Chain Lightning! :D
dzięki za wstawkę bracie.
This was my favorite theme
IMO Diablo 1 was the best "experience".

Yes, its important to keep clean
I remember going into those large rooms as a Magician, waiting for the enemies to surround me, then obliterating everything instantly with Chain Lightning! :D
Accidently killed my dad's magician a few times with that spell when we got too close together in combat.
the drums intro was awesome
Seriously, diablo is supposed to be a GOTHIC style scary RPG. The music STILL haunts my childhood memories to this day. This music actually made you feel like you were battling with the devil

Still the best Diablo game of the trilogy!
Gives me the chills!!!
@Lethani utterly my opinion!
And the sound is the best!!!
Playing this as a 9 year old I remember entering the dungeon and being introduced to fear itself. Always observing for enemies in the dark and what would happen next ! The drums. The freaking opening drums....
i played Diablo 1 in 2012 ! YEAH BABY !
this track made game 3x scarier for me. especially wen u dont see a goblin next to u and they make that "gaaarhh" noise wen they attacked- make me jump a few times

0:42 is where I got pumped up to slay monsters. ^^
When i first had this game, my computer could only run it with like 3 frames per second. It was slow as hell. The music played good though. And you know what? That was freaking suspenseful!
And dont even get me started about the butcher.
Ah, memories ...
stay a while, and listen.
Imagine a movie based on diablo 1 dungeons and soundtrack
When i watch Diablo I i say " Holy shitt it's scary downhere"
When i watch Diablo 3 i say " How pretty it's here so much colours it's very nice"
makes me soooo want to buy a win 98 PC just so I can play this game, one of my all time favorite game series of all time
i played this as a wee little kid.
lol, i was spooked, the sanctity of my pants was fouled when i saw the butcher 1st ime
" the smell of death surrounds me "
@Lethani Yeah man, def
@M00shu yo damn right. I remember being scared shitless in Diablo... Diablo 2 was more about gameplay than anything.
ah the beginning is so cool i feel young again:P
@M00shu ...Best PC Game Ever... Period.
Yeah, this fucker scared the shit out of me the first time I played... And the second :-)
1:57 i love it :)
this was such scary background music it really gave me the creeps :P
this music alone is more scary than most "horror" games today
Is that creepy sound effect that starts around that point synthetic or an real instrument?
So freaking creepy. One of the creepiest sound tracks I have ever heard, if not THE creepiest.
wow totally forgot about what's coming after 2:50 DAAAAAMN almost better than hell theme. hot damn epic game epic music epic ingame feeling, didn't even need internet, just darken the room, only light coming from screen ... it was hell ... for a 15 year old :)
Whereas the story to 2 was neat, and engaging... The first one's story was just... a true tale of horror
1:56 - 4:26 Best part
LOL!! the butcher got pawned there man lol
Always loved Diablo Soundtrack. Only song I liked in Diablo 2 was the Old Tristram Music they re-did. So far Diablo 3 has some decent music but definitely not scary..but who knows, maybe it gets more intense!
@M00shu agree!
"Your death will be avenged!"
i knew i couldn't defeat the butcher, but i wanted to scare myself.. i made a portal near the door. i opened the butcher's door, "squeaked loudly for a second, then ran into the portal safely".
i was so young back then.
If you can even hear it because they underemphasize the music so much in D3, in the beta anyway
@luckyStrike89ru I know man, best thing ever. Nothing compares to this. Wish more games were like this and dungeon keeper haha
i played some diablo 3 beta etc and i must say soundtrack isnt as bad as we all thought it would be. it has guitars, they are a little psychedelic, some similarities with starcraft 2 zerg soundtrack for example, but that is a good thing.
id say the ones who trashtalk about diablo 3 soundtrack only listened to the main theme... which isnt that bad either - it has d2 act 5 vibe all over it.
the spirits of the dead are now avenged
Why don't games have this kind of music direction anymore! Pretty much the Diablo 1 and resident evil 2 soundtrack are the only game soundtracks I like.
@NosferatuArkardo Fuck yeah, man... I'm really lookin' forward to it. At first I was skeptical about it... But I think Blizzard knows what they're doin'
this is what made me scared when i was a little kid playing D1
the drums shoudlve been there the whole song its best part
going out of town portals was a pain... but the game was awsome anyway
Childhood ! ^_^
this holy place has been tainted with the stench of evil
i have to play diablo 2 back to hellfire with no sound :( so i just put this on a playlist and have them play at the right times XD reminds me of when i used to watch my parents play this game cuz i was to scared to :3 (i was 3, lol)
best music man, way better then d3 music
LMAO omg thanks for the laugh.
well that's the whole point of the music. to scare you. to make you tense and fear what's behind the corner. turning it off just misses the whole point, imo.
Wash. *giggles*
This song gave me nightmares.
I've decided when I have kids, they are going to play this game for the first time in the dark, like I did.
Bad Idea #27
@Dallishar really ?? its not being made by blizzard ??
@Haroldthe16
Yes indeed your very fucking right
The Butcher is still the best demon in D1
The first time i encountered him scared the shit outa me, i was so fuckin surprised when i open the door and this Dark voice " Ahhhh FRESH MEAT!!!" started chasing me until he caught up and made a minced meat outa me
Matt Uelmen, in other words ;)
have you even played it? surely diablo 1 soundtrack feels more raw, but diablo 3 really has that psychedelic, ambientish, sinister feel about it. take the latest barbarian reveal trailer video. when it gets to in game footage... its great.

lol i love the butcher xD
AAAAAHHHHH FRESH MEAT!!!!"
Kurwa awesome!
Ah~~~ Fresh meat!
fucking mainstream, fucking money, fucking advertisment all this shit caused diablo 3 to be nothing worth. real gamers ain't dumb, they will feel passion in games... for example here just music alone is something that will live forever and will get you every time you listen to it. damn.
damn skeletons!
the sanctity of this place has been fouled.
the best part is from 0:31 to 0:41
Eerie
Hey I followed your link and why is everything not American?
@reet12337 It's cause the company called Candor made most of Diablo 1 and near the end blizzard bought the company. So blizzard didn't make most of diablo 1, the people of Candor did.
ooo childhood. Remember when i was like 9 years and played this game,i was afraid of this music, skeletons, zombiew and....BUTCHER!!
@reet12337 ??
@uberhaxor69 ROFL you made my day, no WEEK

I do too lol
