      Yeah, I thought riding a prey animal at speed over jumps was petrifying but this is 100x worse 🤣🤣

      A luge practitioner told me once that skeleton is the most stable of the 3 sledges, and that you never flip over, fall or fly in the air with it. Bobsleigh, where you are far more protected tends to flip over far more easily, and luge is probably the most dangerous since you are not protected at all and the sledge tends to fly at any mistake made.

    Now this is a real sport! Everything I can ask for; obscure, no sponsor backing, no fan support, no notoriety , nobody cares, all to race 4 runs, once every 4 years, to risk your life for absolutely no money & if you are lucky, a gold plated piece of lead. 🥇🛷🛷
    That's what we call passion, kids!

      No it’s not, it might be the sport where the stakes are the highest should something go wrong, but I’m sure things like boxing have s much higher fatality risk.

    This MUST be the most dangerous sport ever. 140 km/h, head first down on a hill with two swords under you. Shoulders bouncing everytime. They should at least use some neck protection, like F1 pilots...

    At least in luge you can use your legs as a crash buffer, skeleton looks unreal, though I guess at that sort of speed it doesn’t make much difference.

      I think Sapporo will get 2030 winter games. 2032 summer games will take place in Australia for sure. 2034 winter will arrive in the Salt Lake City, US. 2036 summer Olympics maybe in Germany. Those were my bets.

      Kevlar patches on elbows and knees. Some people wear mouth guards and back protectors too.

      @@krumbes7706 I’m pretty sure you’re both right I think they use body weight with their head shoulders and hips to initiate turns and also use their toes on the ice to turn as well. It seemed like if you’re using your toes a lot you’re kind of in trouble time wise as it slows you down but can make big corrections.

      A slight tip of the head, pressure on side support. Worst case - touch a toe to the ice to stabilise.
