  • Just a quick vid to show how to save a lot of money by upcycling and old broken water hose, RV antifreeze, and a funnel. This covers the pump, and I will be making another video to take care of the fuel drainage so the fuel doesn't gum up over the long winter storage.

Great I am making one of those. The Pump Saver is ok. But it’s expensive. The can is like $10. For maybe 2-3 applications.

So I tried this, slow steady pulls. No fluid moving through the pump. Fluid just stays in the attached hose. What do I do to get the fluid to pass through the other side and fill the pump?

sounds like your valve might be stuck. It probably doesnt allow water through either then. Remove the unloader valve, clean it, and put penetrating oil till you are able to move things freely. Once that's working properly as it should with water, you will be able to push that through too

@@sxewhodey Thanks for the reply. I had no problem with water going through the system last time I used it but I guess it could be stuck now. Before I seen your message, I hooked up my air compressor and attached it to the hose full of antifreeze. Forced air into the hose and was able to get the antifreeze coming out the other side of the pump. So it should be good for the winter. Its getting cold now, I will probably look at the valve in the spring.

Can any automotive antifreeze work? Thanks.

I have heard the detergents are more and each automaker has specific types of antifreeze, so that's the reason RV antifreeze is used. It's les specific has all the essentials, and seems to be less problematic. I won't say you can't use it, but this seems to be a product that's always available

You crank it on the off position? Choke?

@@robertmunguia250 doesn't matter. Your not even trying to start it. Don't go fast, just slow , controlled, and steady. Just enough to get the small amount it actually holds into the system.
