Good video -- I recommend one additional step -- cap those open lines and hoses (water-in and pressure-out) and also on the wand and hose with a bit of aluminum foil or with plastic and a rubber bands. Keeps dust and insects out.
I like the idea of blowing out the pump with compressed air - hadn’t thought of that. Briggs and Stratton makes a pump guard oil that is in a compressed can which is easier. When I put in that oil I always pull the start cord a few times to get the oil in circulation.
Sta-Bil makes a pump lubricant that starts as a foam and you continue filling until the foam turns into a liquid.
TU...Good tip on blowing out the water.
Thanks Bruh! Great, Informative video. I was reading my Pressure washer instruction manual and came across Winterizing with Powerwash Pump Guard....hit RUclips, watched your video....& DONE! Instant knowledge!!!👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
On these honda pressure washers i just remove the 3 bolts holding the pump on and remove it bringing it inside for the winter.5 minute job
This is brilliant thank you. Any gasket or sealant required? I guess I’ll find out!
Simple and to the point. Thank you.
This unit doesn't really allow you to fold up and make it smaller. As to the noise level, it's a gas engine so it's noisy. Probably comparable to most gas lawn mower. But this thing uses up gas much faster than you average push gas mower.
Thanks
Clean around and undo plug and and carefully tip/squirt a teaspoon of engine oil in plug hole, pull starter cord a half dozen times (also run your pump winterization fluid through while turning engine over with pull start) Reinsert plug and leave cap off to remind you in Spring to take out plug and turn over to help clean oil out , then clean plug etc. etc.
Try out our aerosol pressure washer pump protector next time which is alot easier to use.
Good advice.
thanks man this is going to be my saturday project ,yawhooooooooooo
Exselente video grasias
When my pressure washer cuts off due to gas, it's still got at least a quarter of a tank left inside, it's not dry at all. I use pure gas with no ethanol. When you run out of gas is the tank dry?
Just hook up a can of pressurized pump anti freeze/lubricant and run the thing for a little bit and work some of that fluid through the pump and the Wand and that’s it
Can you siphon out the remaining gas instead of running the unit until empty say if you had a full tank of gas?
Super helpful video man thanks!
I’ve never been able to force the lubricant into the pump. So this year I ran it while squeezing the bottle and was able to push some in. Might help someone….
Good video. How about adding a gas stabilizer? Helps keep gas from gumming up float and carb and gas won't turn bad.
Don't need to add stabilizer to fuel that doesn't exist
Just run it all out.
@@thurm101 never get it all out of the carb. I use non ethanol gas with a bit of marine stabilizer. Leave the tank full, run for a few minutes, shut off fuel and in the shed it goes.
Nice video. Would love to see how you change the oil.
+miguel oxamendi The steps are same as changing oil on gas lawnmower. You will have to pick it up and turn it upside down to empty the oil. There is no drain plug at the bottom.
I also wanted to know that, when does the engine oil need be changed?
@@dial2fast Don't turn it upside down tip it only away from air cleaner!( the oil fill/empty hole will always be on opposite side of air cleaner for this purpose, otherwise it has a draining bung.
@@lorenzowirokarso6886 Curious about this as well - prolly at least annually is my best guess.
I went through a procedure to winterize my high pressure washer in the first winter I bought it. The next winter I simply placed it in side. HaHa.
The best way to completely drain the water from the system is by attaching a on and off bib on the hose. Turn off water when finished. Pull the pressure washer trigger. Let the pressure out and water. Then remove pressure washer handle and let the pressure washer pump out the rest of the water. And then have a smoke break lol
Yeah, you can light your smoke of the burned out pump...if I'm reading correctly and you're saying do this with engine running.
Great vid - anyone used the Sta-Bil version of this pump protector/antifreeze?
Thanks bud
Great, thanks for the input.
Car antifreeze would do the trick ? If not just curious why ?
Thank you for the video and your time
Yes car antifreeze will work too.
dial2fast thank you so much
Nice video dial2fast. I have been considering this unit myself. Space is at a premium for me as I have no garage. Do you know if this machine can be broken down to conserve space? Can you comment on the noise level of the motor? Thanks.
Dude that was awesome!!!!!
After you bring it out of storage for use anything in particular has to be done before starting it again ?
The benefit of winterizing the pressure washer is next time you bring it out, just put in some gas, and it's ready for use.
I have the same one. There is a clear polymer pipe with end filter for detergent, but I don't know how to make the detergent running into pressured water.
Drop it in the bottle, the machine will do the rest.
As far as protecting the carburetor, is it sufficient to just run the unit until it runs out of gas?
Yes, or if you store gas over the winter, add STA-BIL to the gas.
I always use high octane no ethanol gas in all small engines. I have zero issues.
someone once said that things that you don't know can hurt you or cost you,,,I bought a used pressure washer 2 years ago and used it and store it away, and now that I wanted to use it,,,well pump is bad,,,had to order a new pump cause my was ruined...
Thank You for this video,
btw..
can we/I use reg antifreeze for cars??
First thank you so much for all the advice
now a stupid question can I add just a regular antifreeze in there like prestone. For a car
Or It have to be RV and Marine antifreeze ?
Thank you in advance
You can use the RV / Marine antifreeze.
RV antifreeze is cheaper and less hazardous.
With the water still run. He should had turn the fuel valve to off and let the fuel burn out of the carburetor… then go to start it 2 more times. Cause he will have he’ll to pay the next time he starts it after winter.
great video, was looking to get this PW but i have my doubts JW if you still have this washer now and if so what did you do to store it for a couple months lets say winter mode and what did you have to do to prepare it, like what steps do you have to do in order for the pump/carb/spark plug ( if theirs one ) etc so they will not corrode and dry out..
Clean around and undo plug and and carefully tip/squirt a teaspoon of engine oil in plug hole, pull starter cord a half dozen times (also run your pump winterization fluid through while turning engine over with pull start) Reinsert plug and leave cap off to remind you in Spring to take out plug and turn over to help clean oil out , then clean plug etc. etc.
my dad has the exact pressure washer!
That's awesome video. Thanks. What air pressure device did you use? Also when you said lubricate, where should I lubricate?
It doesn't need a lot of air pressure. Maybe 60-70 psi
If you buy the regular winterizing solution it usually has lubricant mixed with it, unlike the RV antifreeze.
Is it really necessary to run the engine until the gasoline is completely used up? It can't be stored with gasoline in it?
Don't need to if don't plan on storing it for long period of time, or you have added a fuel stabilizer. I know people that don't empty it and it still works, but I want to make sure mine is prepped for the next use. .
dial2fast Thanks very much for the quick response and your helpful video!
What about storage in hoter climates like Florida. Would you winterized it?
infralap People call it winterize, but it's more to do with proper storage over several months so it will start right up the next time around. The small engine and pump needs to be cared for. So this should be done in any climate.
how about oil change
Something to consider for the spring or whenever you take it out of storage
Run it once a month and never store it
I'd love to do that but months at a time of well below freezing makes it kind of tough.
Joseph Foster I'm not sure you are aware that there are areas in the world where air temps are below freezing for months on end. Winterization is a well recognized practice in those climates.
Running a pressure washer with only flip flops on........ brilliant!!!!!
What the hell is wrong with that? It's only a pressure washer for goodness sake not a chainsaw or a mower.
@@jr4750jr A pressure washer can cut through skin and flesh right down to the bone in a split second.
