Literally all their songs are masterpieces. I personally don't have a recommendation for a specific song from them. Just react to any and whatever song you like :))
Fact: Mikael Akerfeldt (Vocalist/Frontman/Musical Genius) Was only 19 years of age when he made this album! That's what you call a real Musician! Ruben React to: Still Life (1999) The Whole Album. Such an Amazing album. In my Top 5 Opeth Albums of all time!
Seen them live a few times. Fantastic. They capture the atmosphere of each song so well... still life is probably my favourite cause of the sheer depth and scope of each song. However, happily listen to any of their albums! I like that you have listened to a diverse selection already from their catalogue. May I suggest serenity painted death next?
I love watching your Opeth videos. They’re easily my all time favorite bands and I love seeing you enjoy them as much as I do! Next Opeth song has to be Baying Of The Hounds (preferably the studio version if you can)
I did see them live in Chicago on the Heritage tour. Simply sublime. Musicianship totally on point, Mikael’s vocals were great, and the set spanned a good portion of their career. You will enjoy when you see them!
Ruben, you have to listen the newer albums of Opeth If you're going to the concert You should see what their lasts set lists have been. The concert might be only new songs without growling, happened to me once. It's OK though, love all their songs, great band
There are pretty much three eras of Opeth. Orchid dropped in 1995 and Morningrise the next year were the raw beginnings, their first two being the first era. 1998's My Arms, Your Hearse marks the beginning of Opeth as MOST people know them, and the change was mostly in production and songwriting quality, not to mention that's when they picked up Martin Lopez who was their best drummer, likely according to almost every fan. That lasted right through Watershed, and their best albums are from that ten year period, mostly, but it was longtime guitar player Peter Lindgren and Lopez's departure, and guitarist Fredrik Akesson (who's better than Lindgren and Akerfeldt combinde) and drummer Martin Axenrot (not Lopez, but good enough) quite adeptly filled their shoes. In 2011, they completely abandoned not only the death growls, but the buzzsaw distortion and typical metal production in favor of fuzzier guitar tones and a much heavier emphasis on experimentation, so much so that they pretty much stopped being a metal band entirely, and that's where we sit today.
I see it as Orchid to Still life is phase I, Blackwater Park to Watershed is phase II, and now we're three albums into phase III; and if we go by the first 2 phases there should be one more album before they start phase IV.
It makes plenty of sense, that was indie Opeth...they weren't really a big name yet, but I think the first two albums are so prototype, whereas My Arms just solidified what would pretty much be Opeth's signature style for the next decade.
I actually think there's 5 Opeth eras. Orchid & Morningrise are pretty similar, with 10 to 14 min songs (except Black Rose Immortal). My Arms Your Hearse and Still Life are the only two concept albums (even if MAYH is heavier and messier). BWP (check the bonus tracks) and Deli + Damnation are the Steven Wilson era. Ghost Reveries and Watershed are the transitions albums, the production is really clean, polished, and there's a lot more of mellow songs. Then Heritage to Sorceress, the prog rock era. I know people give a lot of shit about Lindgren, but Ghost Reveries and Watershed aren't really differents. Lindgren had 0 contribution in Opeth songwriting after Morningrise. He gave a riff tape to Michael, not a single one was worthy of being on a Opeth song. What changed Opeth isn't the line up, but the direction Michael chose for his band.
Imagine that this song was from their first album Orchid usually first albums are the ones that the band hasn't grown up so much musically speaking but this is like way too deep music and lyrics for a first album. Next one you do should be the song Advent which is the beginning song from their second album Morningrise!
Seen them live twice, it's fantastic! Will see them at FortaRock again (which has an incredible Line-Up by the way :O). You've probably already done this, but if not: Read into their band history a bit, they have changed their musical style a couple of times (this song was from their early phase), the last change was very significant (with the album "Heritage"). Their newer stuff is not metal anymore, still absolutely fantastic. Cheers!
Great choice. Opeth was very naive on their first couple albums but still incredible. They’ve changed a ton, but the Opeth sound is there (hint: it’s all about Mikael). Next Opeth: The Wilde Flowers
Very naive? In my book Orchid and Morningrise are one of the best Opeth albums after BWP and Still Life. I would rather have a 13 min epic riff fest than a 10 min repetitive polished song like The Grand Conjuration. It takes a lot of time to really get into Orchid and Morningrise, but every single song is a gem for me, except Nectar which alrigth but very random.
TheAskald I love every Opeth album because they all came from the genius brain of Mikael Akerfeldt. Naive doesn’t mean bad. Mikael would agree their first couple albums are naive. They were a band treading new territory while formulating their sound. I mean it wasn’t until MAYH that the songs became more cohesive as opposed a collection of small songs
Do yourself a favor and do not listen to 'Night and the Silent Water". It will cost you hours of your life when you could spend that time being productive. Morningrise, Orchid, Still Life; He had the magic touch there for a few years...And I don't mean to say the next albums were not fantastic, as I love every album up to Watershed more than most other bands.
Opeth Black Water Park song is my favorite song of theres, so epic. Down side of Opeth there last 2 albums are no were near as good as any other album in their career.
Opeth - The Twilight Is My Robe
I second this.
Been a metal head over 30 years and never listened to Opeth. Wow this track is fantastic. I will listen to more.
I’m currently in an Opeth phase. I can’t stop listening to them. Please react to Serenity Painted Death.
Andrew M Serenity Painted Death has some brutal and beautiful riffs... This part around 3:30 is what paradise sounds like
Opeth-In mist she was Standing
Literally all their songs are masterpieces. I personally don't have a recommendation for a specific song from them. Just react to any and whatever song you like :))
I'd suggest The Drapery Falls for the next Opeth song!
The song that got me into Opeth probably 15 years ago.
My suggestion Ruben, and because most are crying for brutal, I'll go the opposite ..."Face of Melinda "
That time will come...

Possibly my favorite Opeth track.
Moonlapse Vértigo has to be next. That’s a fucking masterpiece
Seen them live a few times. Fantastic. They capture the atmosphere of each song so well... still life is probably my favourite cause of the sheer depth and scope of each song. However, happily listen to any of their albums!

Good to see your 'forest of october reaction' man. You can also try 'twilight is my robe', 'The Apostle in truimph' from the same album.
If you're going to see them live, I think you should react to what they have played recently in his concerts.
I suggest 'Windowpane' :)
Great video. I love your tea, your facial expressions, your personability, and your taste. Lots of love, man!
I did see them live in Chicago on the Heritage tour. Simply sublime. Musicianship totally on point, Mikael’s vocals were great, and the set spanned a good portion of their career. You will enjoy when you see them!
Do Burden by Opeth or live version of Face of Melinda
King Diamond At The Graves
Beautiful. Very atmospheric. Think I'm going to jump into Opeth more often.
The way your laughter fits 9:35
All by Opeth- Faith in Others, Eternal Rain Will Come, Harlequin Forest, Ghost of Perdition. You must listen to these. You must.
Excellent track as always. The most dynamic vocalist not named Mike Patton in the metalverse
Riff Master82 Don't forget about Devy
Ryan Meeks you are correct. Another mega talented guy
And again I say...'old Opeth is the BEST Opeth'! First 4 albums are pure gold.
React to Edge of Sanity - Crimson, please!
Иван Чугуй that song is too epic he can't handle it
Ruben, you have to listen the newer albums of Opeth
If you're going to the concert You should see what their lasts set lists have been. The concert might be only new songs without growling, happened to me once.

Todos reaccionamos igual la primera vez que escuchamos Opeth, genial video

ruclips.net/video/Psonz5o9Z0w/видео.html
Opeth - Heir Apparent. (react to this)
Can you react to Opeth - Watershed (full album)?
Jan Erik Tiwaz Full album xD
I'd rather he did Ghost Reveries, Blackwater Park, Still Life, or My Arms, Your Hearse before Watershed.
Seen them live twice, it's fantastic! Will see them at FortaRock again (which has an incredible Line-Up by the way :O). 6:43 my exact face while listening to this for the first time while also on acid
Opeth - The Night and the Silent Water
Ok just finished watching your entire reaction, you REALLY need to check out the songs I mentioned.

Ok I see :)
Drapery Falls and Burden!
Please do Night and The Silent Water for the next one uwu.
First album, Orchid is the best. Do Apostle In Triumph or Twilight is my Robe. Those two are amazing.

Opeths best song by a mile is ''the twilight is my robe''. Completely epic
Now I just really need to get tea
One of my favorite Opeth songs...top 3 at least.
Going oldschool with this one. I like it. How about some Rotting Christ or more Scar Symmetry?
you deserve to have some fun watching a video, so I'll suggest this AGAIN. "Wires" by Red Fang, enjoy my friend!
Check out Converge - The Saddest Day
Or Opeth's cover of the Alice In Chains classic song "Would" ruclips.net/video/Tp3HD7JGTBw/видео.html
KAMELOT - SOUL SOCIETY!
Already know the song :) Seen Kamelot twice !
Ruben Buijs Awesome! Then I have another suggestion: Pagan's Mind - God's Equation! The guitarist is incredible :)
I’ll keep requesting it until it’s done.... Kreator- Satan is Real
Seeing Kreator live this year at Fortarock :)
Ok, now Heir Apparent!!
please react to the twilight is my robe from the same album!
Check out - Opeth- To Bid You Farewell (1996) ruclips.net/video/sWyogTKnVww/видео.html

React to Heir Apparent by Opeth, please
Do yourself a favor and do not listen to 'Night and the Silent Water". It will cost you hours of your life when you could spend that time being productive. Morningrise, Orchid, Still Life;
