One of the greatest biographical films ever made. If you know the south and southern poverty, it is one of the greatest portrayals of daily life I have ever seen. You cannot help but fall in love with the innocent charm of her story, the characters and the " I don't know what the hell I'm doin' ' " adventure story. If that film is on, it's one of those you have to sit and watch again and again.

One of my favorite movies too. What an amazing story, hers and her husband's. So sad her dad didn't live long enough to see it. From the way she sings about him he was a saint and a very loving dad. Like my dad was. Loved Sissy in this role and so glad she won the Oscar. This is one of the few times I really cared who won. Many thanks for this song and for the montage of photos from the film. Gives me chills.

This was the very picture show I ever saw. We saw it at a drive-in in Midland, Texas. Sissy, indeed do a great job as Ms. Loretty... To me she's the Queen of Country Music.

I remember 1980 like it was yesterday. My mama and I went to see this at the theatre. We were spellbound and couldn't move when it was over! Not many movies are able to have that effect on someone!
I grew up on small crop farm surrounded by coal mines and old rail tracks we went barefoot and music was our families entertainment saw this movie as kid when it was played in tv and couldn’t believe how it captured our life great movie

Me and my family love her music and movie. I would love to see a movie made about the hard life coal miners had to endure with the greedy coal companies back in the 1900’s to current. Coal miners are hero’s. Let’s not forget that and that’s being said by a Michigan man.

I saw this movie when it came out...it was a GREAT movie...and to keltik31, yes...Sissy did win an OSCAR for the movie. Beverly D'Angelo as Pasty Cline was a stroke of Casting genius. She even sounded like Pasty especially when she did "SWEET DREAMS".

Now near 54 now still remember back then Loretta Lynn back 1985 1986 1987. Got see her at old Carlson theater now gone way before Mall of America was build later 2002. I had so much memories of sit by the Johnson family. I never know until later. Lots Folk at work use think I look like Loretta Lynn. Back then. Still remember green and white bus rolling down the highway. Thank you awesome video clip 100%and song 100\%. Sissy is a very talented actress & singer.Most people didnt realize that Sissy provided her own vocals for the movie until the end of the movie where it states "All songs sung by Sissy Spacek & Beverly D'Angelo"..I have this soundtrack on CD as well as Sissy's album that was released in 1983!
I like this kind of old real country music.Today the country doesn't strike me like it did back in the 70's+80's.I guess those songs are the ones I really miss hearing on the radio back in the day.
