  • There are already ENOUGH RULES in life, we don't need any more in FILMMAKING, do we? Fortunately the 180 DEGREE RULE is more of a CONVENTION, i.e if you follow it your dialogue scene will NOT CONFUSE your AUDIENCE, unless you want to confuse them, than disregard this convention completely.
    This week, we talk about the 180 Degree Rule in filmmaking by showing HOW TO DO IT, HOW NOT TO DO IT, and what to do if you have THREE ACTORS to FILM instead of just two.

    Excellent, thorough explanation! Most videos explain just the initial line, and you are the only one who I saw explaining change in scene dynamics, blocking and new lines. Thank you!🍀

    Nice video I appreciate the lessons...when the third person came in from your illustration he spoke to only actor b what if he wants to speak to actor A ..does another line of action has to be created?

    When one person complete his dialog and 2nd person start his Dialog then rotate the camera to 2nd person and cut the between part

    • @KaiCreative
      @KaiCreative  6 лет назад

      Yes, film the whole dialogue all the way through from both angles, then cut between them in the edit, just get the dialogue of the person playing first before you cut to them - ( L and J cuts ) 👍

    • @magicalab5371
      @magicalab5371 6 лет назад

      Kai Creative if between dialogue is coming while cut so what to do

    • @KaiCreative
      @KaiCreative  6 лет назад

      If you have an interruption to the dialogue then you might want to consider filming a third establishing shot as well, just as in this example when another character walks in.

    Are you use multiple camera

    • @KaiCreative
      @KaiCreative  6 лет назад +1

      Hey Magical AB! Thanks for your Comment - I'm only using one camera in these examples, although you could use two or more cameras at the same time you have to be careful that they aren't in the shot of the other cameras! (: Hope it helps!

    Can you cross the line if you shoot another establishing shot?

    • @KaiCreative
      @KaiCreative  Год назад

      I’d say that’s totally fine - as long as the viewer is clued up as to where the actors are in relation to each other

  • @magicalab5371
    @magicalab5371 6 лет назад +2

    If their speaking cut so then what to do

    • @KaiCreative
      @KaiCreative  6 лет назад

      Great question - so, if you have two cameras, film the scene at the same time with a zoom lens on each camera, so that you can zoom into your actors ensuring that neither of the opposite cameras is in the other cameras shot. If you only have one camera, film the whole dialogue sequence on one actor first, then switch the camera position to the second actor and film the whole sequence again, then edit the two parts of the conversation in post production so that it appears to be a seamless piece, use L and J cuts (with the sound) before switching cameras to continue the illusion of a continuous piece.
