Just copped my first pair about a month ago. Me being a nike sb og fan and coming out if retirement with sneakers that I dont have to wait on long lines for. My GOD I love the gel lyle III. I wasn't sure if I got them too small cause my socks are exposed a bit when rocking yet they dont feel tight. I think for future pairs might do a half size up. Gottacheck out the gel lyle V now because of you. Amazing vid bro keep up the content.
Haha yeah man. As we get older, it isn’t as much about the hype anymore as as the convenience and accessibility of getting what you like. I’m glad you like the GRIIIs, but yeah, most people recommend 1/2 sizing up. If you’re into the sock-like fitting sneakers, then you’ll love the Vs. Thanks for stopping by and leaving an insightful comment!
I dig both shoes but I think I have to give the 5s an upper hand on the silhouette! I've never owned a pair of Asics before and have always admired from afar, but they have definitely been coming up in terms of their designs and colorways. I like that tip on matching your socks with the inner sole though -- I've never thought about that before 🔥 🔥 then again my socks are either no shows or black Nike mid-calves lol
Great detailed comparison review! Both really good looking kicks, but not sure how I feel about the split tongue design of the 3’s. Either way, ASICS makes some top quality sneakers, & I’ve always liked the brand. PS: You just reminded me that I have a few pairs of the ASICS Kinsei I bought a few years ago that I have to finally start wearing! Hands down some of the most comfortable sneakers I’ve ever owned.
Damn love both colourways. I've been seeing more and more people rocking asics. I always just thought they were for more for utility/comfort but loving the style they've been coming out with.
Gel Lyte iii for me. The Vs have a slightly narrower toe box and the sockliner has been done to death by other companies. I prefer the roominess coupled with the cushion of the GL3. More collabs too for GL3. The split tongue is that little thing that sets them apart. 🙂
Asics have been my goto runners for years. I tried nike, brooks, adidas, and new balance but they just fall apart too fast. Thanks for the review, I opted for the Vs for my first pair of casual asics. Amazon had a pair stone grey/blush with some delicate kanji detailing that really caught my eye for a type of shoe I don’t typically wear.
That pair looks interesting! I like that stone gray/blush colorway. I have a lot of friends that run in Asics and they love em as well. Thanks for sharing 🙏
Ooo nice! Is that the crazy polka dot one? Those are head turners for sure 🔥 thanks for watching , I’ll look out for your ASICS review if you do a vid on them 👍
I remember seeing the asics with the double tongue for the first time and thought it was so weird, but then the 2nd i put it on I thought it was so revolutionary lol. They have some dope shoes, and this might be a hot take, but I do think it's up to par with the comfortability of ultraboosts
I still need a pair of Asics... These look comfy. Great review bro. 🙌🏼 also, the split tongue is unique, just not sure how I'd vibe with them. The way you matched them is the way to go tho 🔥
Thanks for the video. AFEW x Asics "Beauty of imperfection" is about to release in the U.S., and I want to get a pair as my first glmel lyte 3. I noticed that there are barely any gl5 on the asics website. Maybe a redesigned model will come out?
Nice 👍 I like that AFEW colorway ! Either true to size for a (very) snug fit, or half size up if you have a wider foot for GL3. And yeah I also feel like the GL Vs have been quieter in terms of production and less colorways lately
I'm interested in the Gel-Lyte V, but am having trouble finding a place with one to try on. I'm a 9.5 in my Onitsuka Mexico 66s, Vans Sk8-Hi's and Authentics, and 9 in my Stan Smiths. Do you have any of those that I can compare for sizing relative to yours? I'm probably a 9.5, but I have been a 10 in some shoes. Thanks!
You can probably go with 9.5 . I wear 9.5 both Stan smith and asics, but asics runs more snug with a sock like fit. Size up to 10 if you want more room 👍 good luck!
I think 1/2 size up is a safer bet . And yes midsole responsiveness is fairly similar to AM90, although I’d say that these asics are a little softer and lower to the ground
Sorry I haven’t tried 97s personally, but I went 1/2 up from my other Air Maxes and it worked well for me. so if I were you I’d go up to 11.5 in GL3s assuming all air maxes run similar. Good luck 👍
As to sizing, if you know your Adidas size in UK, buy the same in most Asics shoes. All my III are UK12. In Adidas that is 12.5US, in Asics 13US. I have 10 pairs of IIIs, Kayano 21s, Nandi OG, 1030, Quantums, all 13US. Out of all of them, probably the Quantums are just a bit larger, i.e. longer, 1-2mm longer to be precise, so those are the only ones someone can size 1/2 down, IMO. The Vs are a completely different beast. I feel like they run probably 1/4 to 1/2 size down. The 13s press a bit on my big toe, and I find that very uncomfortable, it's just the way the shoe is structured, so going 1/2 size up would be best, unfortunately there is no 13.5US, it goes to 14, and that is too big for me. The Vs look absolutely stunning though, I love the silhouette, too bad I can not fit in it property.
I agree, adidas UN fit pretty close to most ASICS. I have not tried the Quantums or Kayanos models yet, but definitely interested one of these days. I personally enjoy the Vs for casual wear and they fit great for me, but everyone’s feet are different I suppose haha. Thanks for the insightful comment!
@@kickitwithdang The Kayano 21 is an absolutely stunning looking shoe. The 14 is also a beauty, the new 14 RE is straight 🔥. The Quantums look nice, they have this "techy" vibe to them and are very comfortable, close to Ultraboost in comfort (i find the early pureboosts more comfortable than the original ultraboost, so there is that). The IIIs are my favorite still (just because they fit great on my feet). If you love the IIIs and and Vs, may I suggest the Saucony Shadows, the Diadora S8000, V7000, N9000, and Le Coq Sportif any of the R models and Kangaroos R1s. All awesome looking shoes, albeit for a more refined taste, outside of the typical hypebeast culture. Sidenote: I'm a big Adidas ZX and EQT fan, I always found most of the ZXs to be very comfortable and stylish and I'm happy adidas is retroing a lot of them.
Iliyan I am very much interested in trying all those ASICS models in the future 👍 I have a handful of Sauconys (shadow 5000, 6000, grid 9000, Azura) and I like them all also . Diadora N9000 are also great . Thanks for the recs! I’m always looking for lesser known models and sneakers that have less hype behind them 👍
I am also a 9.5 in Jordan 1s and NB550s. You can size up to 10 on these ASICS, especially if you have a wider foot. You can get away with TTS at 9.5 if you have narrow feet 👍 hope this helps!
I never owned a pair in hand, but they look great 👍 they look very similar to the III on the top, but with a little different technology on the back and bottom , I’m gonna guess the comfort is equal if not better than the III
Yeah, most people will say to size up for both kicks, i can see going full size up on GL3 working out esp if you have wider feet. Appreciate you sharing bro 🙏
Asics really are a notch above nike in terms of craftmanship. Examine a nike shoe closely and you'll find a lot of loose stitching/ other minor defects. Not so w/ asics
Agreed, ASICS are just generally made better👍. A lot of times they’re even more comfortable too . It’s unfortunate they don’t get as much praise as Nike
Thanks for the video! I went with the GL3 as I dig the split tongue. The size you mentioned to the ultraboost is spot on.
Thanks man! The GL3 is a great shoe 👍
Great video. Helped me pull the trigger on the Gel Lite III's 1/2 size up. Subscribed.
Yeah 1/2 size up should work fine, most ppl have said the same . Thanks a lot for stopping by 🙏

Just want to add on, gel lyte 3 only has gel in the heel, whereas gel lyte 5 has heel and forefoot gel units.
Makes sense, that’s probably why I slightly prefer the comfort of the 5s over the 3s. Thanks!

Those Kinseis look very comfortable and the design is unique - I might have to give them a try for running/training ! Thanks for stopping by Aaron 💪
Is the split tongue design a matter of concern and can we use it for daily pueposes
Never owned a pair of Asics but the green ones are TUFF !
Damn love both colourways. I've been seeing more and more people rocking asics. I always just thought they were for more for utility/comfort but loving the style they've been coming out with.

Can’t disagree with any of your points👍IIIs are solid for sure. Thanks for sharing !
Split tomgue lets it down fpr me but cushioning and stability is better in it than vs
How does the older ASICS gel respector differ from those ?
Asics have been my goto runners for years. I tried nike, brooks, adidas, and new balance but they just fall apart too fast. Great video!!! I learned a few tricks. I own several pairs of 3 (49 to be exact) vs 4 pairs of the 5’s.
Wow that’s a lot of pairs! Thanks so much for visiting the channel 🙏
hey bro, im 9us on most of my air max (8.5us on af1 and 9us on dunks) should i get 9.5us for the gel lyte V?
@@mauri1400 im 9.5US on Airmax, but 9 on V’s….Got a pair of 5 all leather and went 9.5 on those because of the material but still feel a lil too big…
@@pit32s ooh maybe i fucked up because i ended up ordering a 9.5us pair, maybe i gotta return them and order a 9us
the III and V do fit the same ? i got the Vs in 9us and i feel them a little big, should i get the III in 8.5us ?
I'm planning to get the Gel Lyte III X Collete, this is a nice video and I got a lot of information about the GL3.
Ooo nice! Is that the crazy polka dot one? Those are head turners for sure 🔥 thanks for watching , I’ll look out for your ASICS review if you do a vid on them 👍
thanks for the video bro, im 9us on airmax, should i get 9.5us for the gel lyte V’s ???
Hey bro , i am planning to buy the Gel lyte 5s , for reference - I wear Asics Japan S 9uk , should i stick with 9uk for gel lyte 5s as well?

Nice comparison man! I really like the 5s creme tones for the win! 😁

True to size or half size up? Does both shoes have firm midsole? Like nike air max 90 firm feel?
I think 1/2 size up is a safer bet . And yes midsole responsiveness is fairly similar to AM90, although I’d say that these asics are a little softer and lower to the ground
