Thank you! I really like to think the 'commons resources' (software/brushes/tutorial) as a public parc that we all need to maintain, bring flowers, prune trees, maintain it to be a happy place. That the internet I want. 😊
@@DavidRevoy Well said, sir. And thank you as always. Educators like yourself are treasures and I look forward to trying these brushes out in the morning! =^.^=

Thanks! Oh yes, I found recently the CC-By musics of www.serpentsoundstudios.com/royalty-free-music/celtic-fantasy , splendid catalog of Creative Commons music. A gold mine for my next videos. 😻 Thank you for noticing.
Woww so awesome!! Thank you so much for the bundle, I downloaded it today and been using it~ Your channel has been very helpful for me who's just started using Krita. Love your art!
I just got into digital art and brushes are one aspect I’m finding rather overwhelming, I’ve downloaded your other brush set but for the time being I might just use the default round brush and get used to using that, I’ve heard that’s a wise idea. Also I’ve heard it’s best to start by painting black and white, what do you suggest?
Hi TheBulletKin. Yes, it is good advices; but it's also a difficult disciplin that can 'kill the fun' of playing with brushes rendering and enjoying color. But for building skill, and getting memory muscle, it is good recommendation. Grayscale will help you to focus on light and shadows, modeling, getting values of foreground/background/middle ground, that kind of fundamentals. Limiting to only a single brush or a mini set of 2 or three can be also a good idea. The round brush (with a bit of opacity on pressure) is perfect and can do splendid renderings. But also, don't limit yourself to rules/disciplin if you don't enjoy that. Remember we are all different, and I see many RUclipsrs starting to standardise a method; and tell that as if it was 'universal rules' and repeat the same advices over and over (they monkey repeats some well known books for most of them, it's easy to trace). We are all different, we all learn differently. How did you learnt how to learn? (philosophical question xD) Look at all the style of artist, in history, on social medias. You also will bring one style, one tone, one design unique to this world. How all we can learn with the same methods? That's why I'll advice you that your true compass in this quest is "Enjoying the experience" −imo− the most important, because it's a best investment to painting on long term and keep the passion/fun. So, if you find fun with grayscale and round brush. Good. You'll skip many issue with selecting brushes, selecting colors, etc.... But if you find no fun, and have frustration of getting no texture, no vibration of color; then it's dangerous to start this way for you. I hope it helps! sorry for the lenght.
About the brush aspect, I'm not a professional in digital drawing, but i think that it's like in spiderman. If you struggle to use basic brushes, more complicated brushes won't help. You should get used to the basic ones, see how you like to work, and then find something that really suits your art style :D
@@DavidRevoy thanks for the response, I appreciate it. I think that starting off with great scale only for a few pieces to understand the software and brushes would be a good start. But all my attempts at colour recently have been really bad, so at some point I will begin to use colour more and step out of that comfort zone, I don’t want to be stuck doing greyscale because it is bland, but I still feel it’s a good starting point
Hi David, thanks for great work on Krita and for new brushes. Unfortunately I run into a problem, after I load brushes they appear correctly but the "tilt" doesn't really work for me in the tilt version... Any idea what could be the reason? Thanks in advance!
@@DavidRevoy Hey, thanks for the answer, I thought it worked... but now that I checked different brushes, the option that works for me is "drawing angle" but not "tilt direction", do you know any brush from Krita preset that uses tilt option so I can double check? The ones I tried seem to do nothing... the brush should change the painting direction, right? If it doesn't work, then I guess my tablet doesn't support tilt :( (wacom bamboo pen) ...thanks for help!❤️
@@ladymagveg A default brush with tilt is a pencil; "c) Pencil 5 tilted" . "Drawing angle" just follow your cursor (and it's nice; it works even with a mouse and doesn't require tilt). Tilt really change the rotation depending on the inclination of the stylus ( continuing the direction of the tip, as if the stylus was an arrow; from top view). This way, rotation of the wrist adds a subtle rotation here and there of +15 or -15 degree (it's rare to use tilt on my side for going a full perpendicular angle).
@@DavidRevoy it sounds very nice:) after 5h of testing different brushes I guess it just doesn't work with my pen, what a pity... but the bundle is so nice anyway, already did one painting while trying this out:) I think I am going to use it even without tilt (maybe rotate canvas slightly instead)
@@ladymagveg Thanks! ha true, more and more company who does tablet now only offer the tilt for the 'pro' model in their hardware. It's nice, but also a bit overrated; it doesn't really change the whole experience ; it just add for me a bit of rotation randomness; I made a second bundle in description named NO TILT at the end, that at least keeps the brush shape horyzontal instead of vertical. Feel free to modifly them; activating the drawing angle can be a good workaround.
Hey, have you reported it to the developpers? (bug tracker, or on Krita forum; please indicate on it the system version and hardware CPU/GPU/etc). If not, there is a small chance for it to be fixed one day. But it is fine if you don't have the time for that, I understand too. About the brushes, they'll probably load, but not work as intended. Especially the 'Creamy' one risk to produce a bug/crash because it was made with a new part of the Smudge brush engine in Krita 5. Same for the texture of the two others, it uses Krita 5 too. Krita 5.0.2 is out, and brings a lot of post corrections and fixes; I had good feedback about it from two user who also prefered to stay in 4.x until they had success with 5.0.2. It might worth to try it again.
Can you load other artist's bundles? or only mine fails? At what point does it fails? Can you report the issue to the developpers (it's a bug on your OS/platform release, it's not supposed to happen). Thanks!
@@DavidRevoy I have been able to load brushes in the past. When I get to the last command to import the bundles the open button is grayed out.I am using Mac OS 12.2.1
@@thomaskauffman983 It does sound like a bug: sometime operating system requires a permission for software to access files. Maybe the file dialog on this button doesn't have access (or maybe you try to import the ZIP file? Have you extracted the bundle file from it?). In any case, please report it to the developpers; so in Krita 5.0.3 or later you'll get this option back. Thanks
Hi Anne, thanks! Yes, they are pretty resources intensive and require a workstation or a gaming laptop to enjoy them at full potential. If you want; you can modify them: a larger spacing might help boosting the performances, unactivating the "overlay" effect too, and finally the dynamic on the stylus for the tilt effect. Good luck with it, I'm sure you can make them usable.
Hi! Thank you. Krita uses brush preset for smudging; in the Krita default, they should be color coded with "light blue color" stroke. But all the brushes using the "Color Smudge" engine (color code on the brush thumbnail: pale purple color) can be also easily transformed into smudge tool; just open the brush editor and uncheck the "Color Rate" option. After that, the brush should only pick the color from the layer. If you want the brush to interact with the full canvas (all layer under) activate the option "Overlay" in the brush editor.
I'm always impressed when someone does so much for the community and does it for free. Thank you so much
