Finally! A video that’s not slow paced and is straight to the point and very informative! Thanks so much man!
Thank you pal! :) Really appreciate that! :D
You talk like a machine gun as well.
This is the channel I was looking for... Blender and Krita together! High quality videos with a good tips, thanks
Aww thanks pal! Glad you found me :D More on the way! :)
For all you people struggling with pen pressure! Check from your tablets setting if the pen itself is working. I thought for a long time that the problem was on krita, until I checked and the problem was on my pen xD
^^^ x1,000
@@TutsByKai my pen pressure works in every single other app but this one, did everything in the video and it doesnt work
I checked my pen pressure yet it won't save my changes which confused and frustrates me so much. I do that same stuff as the video describes and it won't save the changes I make. If you could help that would be great
I was getting so frustrated with my pen pressure not working, but I closed Krita and reopened it and it finally registered. Thank you so much, your comment helped me not punch a hole in my screen xD
I was struggling when it came to brushes and didn't know how to customize them so this video really helped me! Thank you for making this video it really helped!
This by far is the BEST GUIDE to KRITA for greenhorns like me. All the other TUTORIALS are good but learners just cannot follow the TIPS and TRICKS just because we do not know the behaviour of the brushes and how the tutors got them to behave like so. This, in essence reduces the steep learning curve in KRITA 4.3 by 75 to 80%
... thanks to you.
Thank you VERY much for the kind words :) Glad that I was actually able to help that much
I’ve been using Krita a while now but with programs I‘m kind of a slow learner so there are many things I‘ve never used before and recently I wanted to use like a more rougher brush for lineart so thanks for this, it‘s perfect :)
Also I really like your voice
Aw thank you! Glad to be of assistance
You would not believe how long i spent trying to figure out how the brushes settings working the way i want them on my own. Thank you for this video, just wished i looked for this sooner, lolz.
I can finally use the airbrush without the entire canvas turning one solid color
Kai yer great.. but for the love of fudge.. please pronounce KRITA (KREE-ta) and not (CRY-ta).. k thanks. :)
Also, what graphics tablet do you use?
I agree xD
Lolz! Thank you, and I said before that I don't know how it's pronounced ;D "I usually say Cry-ta, Crit-ah however you say it" but didn't today XD I've seen many people say many different things... so I decided it's time to look it up. Is it really Kree-ta? Strange! I would've guessed Crit-ah. I've seen many people say many different things... so I decided it's time to look it up. Heard the devs mention Kree-tah, Critter, Kweeta and Kridda! Apparently they even say different things around the office :D Tomato tomato I suppose! Oh! And apparently Krita means 'chalk' in Swedish! Pretty neat :D
I mentioned it before many a time, but it's the Huion H610 Pro! An amazing little tablet for pretty cheap! I love it :)
@@TutsByKai LOL yeah this is where I found reference.. forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=137&t=125338 I figured someone should give you a hard time :D
Your the first person i know who pronounces "krita" into "kraiéta"
How do you even pronounce kraieta? Kruh-eye-ey-tah? I say cry-tah.
@@TutsByKai He means the most common pronunciation is cree-tah instead of cry-tah (which is commonly written as crAI-ta. The english sound of Y is mostly transcribed to ÁI in most languages out there, such as Portuguese, Spanish and Italian)
By the way, great video! It's helped me a lot
Your channel is amazing and so helpful. I watch your Blender and Krita tutorials. I really like your style of teaching.
My brush palet was not popping up. Thankfully that has been resolved. I think it was because I selected animation? Not sure, but now I can change my brushes at will! Happy Krita days ahead!
Yes!!! I've done that! I remember not being able to figure out how to switch! It was killing me :D Glad I helped you out!
Dude...this is literally everything I needed! Thanks!!
You are magic man and so clever as well! I am learning heaps of tips from you just watching. Love the fast pace you use. It stops boring... thanks so much TutsByKai
Awww, thank you so so much :) I really really appreciate your comments Marie! I'm just happy you're enjoying these videos ^__^ More Krita coming soon!
I don't know why my brush tip not sharp even i was adjust the size like u do in 5:55
hey there, is there somewhere to see the history of used brushes? i used one and then changed to another and can't remember which i used first! Or at least see what time of brush is used on a certain layer maybe?
Nevermind, found it.
In case someone else wants to know:
settings > dockers > brush preset history
Thx dude, now I can sketch
change all the settings as you do but it doesn't show in the sketchpad and it doesnt show any difference at al if i save it..can you help me with that? im losing my patience over here haha.....
Thank you so much!
This video was really helpful
Awesome tutorial mate.
Thanks pal!
@@TutsByKai thank you very much partner your tutorials helped me a lot and you re totally awesome keep it up support you all way mate best wishes at all times.
Hello again Kai! Just want to say thank you again for all these wonderful videos. I hope this isn't too weird to say, but your voice is very soothing.
Aw, well thank you so much
@@TutsByKai You know what, I think you're correct lol
This is really helpful. I can finally get started on my projects!
Yay! I'm very glad! :)
This this did help with getting me closer to 100% of what I could do in Ps
4:30 the opacity with the pressing is not working for me
So when I go into the brush menu it’s not a pop up window like yours. It’s FULL screen and cuts off the “tester” area. Any idea on how to fix that? The little brush testing area would really come in handy so I’m not constantly testing and erasing on my canvas
Thank you so much - no ads. Refreshing.
Haha! I feel you! :D Glad you enjoy the uninterrupted video :)
All my brushes look the same and don´t reflect the change in settings They don´t look like the brushes in your video. I don´t know what to do. So this doesn´'t work on pc?
You’re a life saver
6:21 I like how he is says *Yada Yada Yada*
Above all it means a lot.
Thank you a lot this helped me set my brush how I wanted it, Thank you
Very helpful, clear and to the point, thanks!
Thank you very much :)
Changing any of those settings doesn't seem to do anything at all to my brushes. Is there some other way this needs to be enabled?
This is PERFECT! This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thanks a ton man!
Anytime!
I'm using the hp envyx360 and I just cant get the brush you have with that sharp tail!!! Its really frustrating me :,)
Same here! Have you managed to figure out how to fix it? Im looking to make my brushed more tapered at the end but nothing works... Im also on a HP Envy, im not using a £30 pressure sensitive hp pen though, just a £10 one i found online, could that be the problem? (The pressure-tapered effect works on other consoles so i'm really not sure)
@@freyagreenland9836 honestly I have a stylus with 1024 pressure sensitivity but it still doesn't work
@@mesia2453 Wow... I'm using my digital art as a part of my Graphic Communication GCSE so i got pretty frustrated and switched to Autodesk Sketchbook because i know its free and works alright. I managed to edit a brush so it's tapered but it doesn't always work so i just kinda wing it i guess
6:05 I tturn size on but my lines don't change why? my lines don'tt become finner att ttthe end help IM USING MOUS
so i do art on a hp laptop touch screen with a digiroot stylus and even tho the brush at the top shows in tapered, when i draw, its just the normal brush with round ends and no taper. i think it has somothing to do with pressure but idk how to turn pressure sensitivity on
why do all my brushes look the same (all of them are circle) even tho my brushes show tip sharpness
I use mouse
Is it possible to use the pens which needs pen pressure without it? Mine doesn't support it...
great insight on brushes!! thanks!
Hey how do I fix the flow of my brushes on Krita? Mine won't look like an actual paintbrush's even when I change the settings, it all comes out the same width and its really annoying.
very informative and concise.
Hello there Kai! i've been struggling for a LOOOOONG time with 1 problem. My brush doesn't sharpen. it's always the same round end and start, and it doesn't have the nice sharp beginning and ending. I've been trying to follow these tutorials and get help but nobody seems to have the same problem as i do. Could all this be caused by the fact that i use computer instead of a pen? PLEASSEEEE help me out!! 🙀🙀😢
Yeah! Unfortunately, you can't get the same type of edge if you use a mouse! :/ Pressure sensitivity only works with pens!
heyy there , I had just began to use Krita , but I have a problem my Basic Brush 5 size cant make sharp line at end it same through out the stroke no sharp at the end , even after cahnging the size pattern it shows in that box that end is narrow but i wont able to made it m can you help me with that ???
Tysm! This helped a lot!
Thank you for this!!! ♡ Helps a lot!
This was SUPER helpful! Thank you!😃
Fade ends of the brush strokes won´t work on pc, i tried changing the opacity pressure with no results... is there something i can do?
Thank u very much gave me a lot of knowledge
I changed my brush presets to opacity and pressure, but all I'm getting are brushes that are blunt, with no change in opacity or size by pressure. I swear I clicked save.
Same this is happening to me, what are you using to draw with?
same :c
Great video! Thanks!
No problem!
I have a question, can you make a video on how to import brushes? Thanks
love this tutorial!
I overwrite the spray brush into texture brush . How will I recover it to spray brush
How do i have those line they use for digital art i tried to edit my brush ended up messing all around :S
Stupid request, but my basic 5 brush is acting weird, and I don't know how to set it back to the way it was before. Each stroke is translucent, and the opacity is still set at maximum. I don't know how to change this, do you have any suggestions?
OMG OMG OMG IT HAS EVERYTHING THAT I NEED I LIKE IT THANKS THANKS THANKS
How do I reset the brush tip to its original settings?
dude I'm drawing on my laptop using a wacom graffic tablet and the pressure sensisivity jus doesn't work on my krita. :[
i do sharp start to brush, but it doesnt work, or doesnt change at all
Could you tell me what brush and settings to use to make a calligraphy brush pen?
Kraiiiiitaaaa 👌💖
I love it! One of my fav programs of all time :)
Whenever I change up some stuff the brush doesn’t respond to what I changed, I tried messing with the pressure but it’s still the same and it won’t respond to anything
i have the same problem too
Zerek! I switched to a different software, I highly recommend sketchbook pro, it has more brushes, and good settings. And it’s free
thanks
Anytime! :)
this saved my career
How do i set my brush to just do a dot when i tap?
Nice tutorial
But I am unable to open brush size. You showed in the beginning of tutotial. but it is not opening to adjust
im new to using krita. but ive noticed when i click on the brush icon it doesnt give me all of those settings
nevermind i have spent days hitting the wrong button
I have a question. About your brush settings I wanted to make it like yours for the basic 5 and the settings are the same as yours but my brush is really thick and I don’t know why. I changed the size and stuff like yours but idk can you help?
Never mind I read some of the other comments and I will try those I am sorry :)
No problem! 98% of the time, it's something about the tablet or pen's sensitivity! Let me know if you still need help, pal!
TutsByKai thank you! And I’m pretty sure it’s my own sensitivity because I don’t have pen pressure on. I was suppose to download a guide thingy when I first got the tablet but I didn’t maybe that’s why. I just took out and plugged in the tablet and got Krita 😂 nothing else
For some reason the size part of the flow wont work, it just stays the same size and has the round outline. (I'm a PC user btw)
is there a way in Krita to add a hotkey to single brush ?
can someone help? non of my brushes leave any trail or a tail, i tried changing the sensitivity on the tablet
I don’t know why I have the same effects when I change the flow or opacity... is it because I use a mouse?? If yes then please suggest something... also, a very nice video for beginners like me..!
Yes, mouses don't have pressure sensitivity.
Hi thank you for making this video! At 5:52 was exactly what I was looking for! I tried to make my brush look like the variable "U" but upside down which is displayed to choose above, and tried to paint with that new brush BUT nothing is happening, literally nothing is coloring or sketching with that set of variable for my brush. Why is that so? Im using it on a laptop, does it have anything to do with that?
It could potentially have to do with the laptop & Krita itself... but I couldn't be sure. Try downloading another painting program like GIMP, to see if you can draw - and if there's pressure sensitivity!
@@TutsByKai Thanks and I will! Thank you for responding I'll let you know if I fixed it lol
I changed my settings to match your brush but it doesnt change, its still the default brush :(
I had the same problem make sure your instant preview isn't crossed out and make sure your flow is off
@@williammorgan1452 thanks I will try that
@@Rose-lz2et same thing.
Thank you it is very informative
u know the thing u did to the brush at 6:03 , it looked smooth and fine, mine doesnt for some reason? can u help pls :(
This could be the issue :) ruclips.net/video/H88x09Gz2-M/видео.html
Im doing what you are telling us but my burch don t change it s sty the same as if i didn't do anything
Thanks man
Thank YOU!
I would love to see a video on how to create impasto brushes in Krita.
Only one brush actually works on krita, I use a huion pro 20 but I don’t know if it’s an issue with the tablet, it’s drivers, or the software
If one has sensitivity, then it's not the tablet. Try uninstalling and reinstalling Krita from their website krita.org
I'm struggling with getting my brushes to do what you did at 6:00
Just the tapering edges? Turn everything off except for size :)
Literally have tried that like 20 times, even tried messing with the size settings and nothing it stays a big fat round end D':
Oh, well then Krita must have messed up your actual pressure settings! Krita also has a really finicky way of needing the tablet to be plugged in first, before the application is open. I really need to make a pressure sensitivity video - to try and combat all this crazy Krita settings stuff :D A lot of people have been having problems since Krita's last update or so :/
@@TutsByKai thats what i was thinking as well, or maybe its my tablet? its a wacom bamboo pen.
@@TutsByKai Also a cluster of my brushes look EXACTLY the same XD
How do you change brush engines?
I watched few of your videos about lines and how to get perfect brush, but with all settings, I can't get the same tip as yours. I don't want my line to end sharply, but sharp, and I copied your settings and my brush is still not good enough :(
Hmmm. So you want the brush to be sharp, but not end abruptly? Try taking the line, and dragging the center of the line down and to the right. Add some points and move them around until you get a tapering that you like. Playing with the bottom parts of the line will give you a more smooth end :)
im doing the things to the brush exactly like you did in the video but the brush isnt changing at all pls help
Do you have pressure sensitivity in other programs?
TutsByKai krita is the only program i have also does the brush only change if you have a tablet cause i only have a mouse maybe that's why it isn't changing
what brush setting would you recommend for a rubber hose style?
i was adjusting my brush and now all of a sudden my eraser does not work properly anymore. My pen has an eraser just like a regular pencil. And the standard erase mode that would engage everytime i put that eraser on the screen was phenomenal. Now all of sudden it completely changed my eraser setting even tough i did not change anything except some basic characteristics of my brush itself. I dont know how to change it back.
i accidentally deleted the brush presets thing, how do i get it back?
i know allthis is from 3 years ago and you prob dont rmemeber but do you know how to make your brushes sharper or do u know any tutorials oh how
How can i make the cursor circle smaller. When i try to draw its very distracting and i cant be as accurate.
The cursor's size is dependent only on the size of the brush. As far as I know, there's not a way to change it other than making the brush smaller :/
@@TutsByKai found it myself . Thanks though 😄
Thanks!
No prob!
8:43 How do you raise the minimum thickness like that? When I try to do it, it gives me some curve shape and not a straight shape.
That should work exactly the same. The same brush? The same line curve? No reason it should be different. If you have no other points than the ones I have, it should be exact.
@@TutsByKai Ah yes it was the brush. Thank you! I've been trying to find a brush that isn't infinitely thin.
Hi Kai, can u show, how to save .abr photoshop brush in krita 4?
Sounds like something that needs to be done! I'lll see what I can do! :D
when it comes to the brush window, (when you click in on the brush icon on the top of the screen) how do i change the size of that window?
I don't believe you can do that, unfortunately :/
Can you change the setting that increases or decreases the brush size with shift and moving the pen. Please someone told me how, because i HATE IT
Head into the keybinds up in the settings and search for that hotkey combo :)
THANK YOU
+1
Anytime :D
Thanks Man
No problem!
where i can find the "kk lineart" brush?
Hi Kai!! What do I do when some brushes have an X on the icon ? the brush just takes a random unrelated brush tip from the predetermined list of brush tips instead of what the original brush was meant to look... help!!
Hi!!! How are ya?! :) Ohhh, dang! Krita has done this to me before... and I can't recall how I fixed it. And I believe that I remember uninstalling and re-installing - but the brushes stayed the same. You could try (if you're on Windows) going to you Krita folder and deleting all the brushes. Krita should re-add back in a FRESH folder with new brushes set back to default :) Hopefully that works!
Um I don’t have that brush button. How do I get it?
Brush button? Sorry, not sure I'm following. What button do you mean specifically? :)
TutsByKai the one to change ur brush settings like let’s say I have a pencil brush and I want to change the opacity and it’s angle. I wouldn’t be able to since I don’t have that brush button. Or simply the button underneath the tools tab
TutsByKai well the button under the tools tab
I have a problem. On Photoshop I have no lag but on krita there is a slight lag between the stylus and the trit.
I do all of this on a computer. The pressure/pressurein, fade/opacity don't work for me, they're just ugly fat lines with no special features. Is it possible for these to work on a computer?
Of course you're using a computer :D That's the only thing you can use: a computer. That's like asking if you can play video games on your PS4 :D So you're all good, don't worry about that.
I suppose you could hook a tablet up to a laptop... but I don't recommend it - unless you're always on the go. If you have your tablet plugged up and are able to move around the canvas with your pen - but there's no pressure sensitivity, you may need to install your tablet's drivers (if you haven't already) :)
